Adywan said that it will be release in 2010.  No Christmas release, which is fine by me.  I'd rather have it perfected then have to go through the whole "XVID is different from the DVD5 is different from the DVD9 is different from the PURIST" again.

Yeah, I agree. Just very, very anxious. =)

Still i like the sky has a bit more blue to popup

Unlike most other times, I have to disagree with you Angel. In adywan's shot, the mountain and blue in the upper right balance the concentrated dark shape of Luke and the tauntaun in the bottom right. Add too much blue sky, and it overpowers the image. It's the first thing you see. Whereas, in ady's shot, the eye naturally hits on the dark splotch in the bottom right first, and then moves smoothly to the background where a large mountain gives the scene a dramatic sense of scale.

Oh yeah. This is a Lord of the Rings shot... The scope Star Wars deserves.

And to me the real blue sky should only appears the day AFTER luke is saved. It's a kind of bad weather before it, and the night starts to fall soon.

EDIT: first I thought the picture on the right was a Vaderios moke up, but it is from the original ESB, right? God, I can't say that I am a fan anymore...!

That was good!

Of course its the original 2004 snapshot.

Imagine to not quote that someone wants a comparison!

On the lower right pic, it looks like almost all of the stars on the left of the star destroyer are duplicated on the right side, not just the circled examples.

Here is my 2nd attempt at it. This time I used the screen image from TPM, though I had to blow it up to work, so its pretty pixelated, but its still the type of image I would like to see on the screen, rather than the one in AOTC.

Thanks for the pic!

So now that a few days have passed for me since really having this chance to show my idea visually, I'm beginning to become curious for feedback.

What makes this idea work or not work, in your eyes?

Also, it relates to ESB, so its not entirely off topic! Control, control, we must learn control!

I don't think your idea works.  I feel the scene is supposed to show Leia feeling more comfortable with Han.  The focus is on their faces and their body language.  cutting back and forth from faces to what is shown on the screen is jarring and loses the focus.

On another note, I kinda like that we don't see what the they are looking at.  Similar to the wampa scene, less is more.

I generally agree with you here, but still I would like to stay on the topic of awfull screens throughout the OT compared to the wonderfully explanatory and animated screens of the PT. You get a feeling that the OT ships are old or malfunctioning because their screens are a mess, I was happy to see the improvements in ANH:R because it becomes more cohesive, same here, places to change? speeders, X-Wing talking to R2. I agree with the "if it's not shown don't go out of your way to show it" karma, but if it's shown, let's pump it up. the screens should look killer in the OT....my 2 cts.

MAN that is horrendous colouring on the 2004 DVD!  I can't believe how superior a fanedit can be compared to an officially licensed commercial release.

I always took hans line go find him it's getting dark out their as a joke of lukes youth. Of course on the 2006 edition it is getting dark well really dark blue out their. Is their anyway to make luke look less like he has globs of makeup on. I

I discovered ANH:R a while after it has already been out. I believe I have the DVD5 version. Whats the difference in the DVD9?

I tried keeping the shots of the dashboard screen brief, as that is how I would do the footage if I had better editing capabilities and could do my own quality edit. That way the screentime of Han and Leia isn't interrupted TOO much, and its makes the shots that happen after seeing the monitor feel more like reaction shots than just one long continous shot of the actors with a blue light flashing in their face, lol.

But I get why people say it is unnecessary. It really is only a few seconds that the monitor is shown anyway.

The DVD-9 is the "ultimate" (and final) edition. It has a bunch of extra features that aren't on any of the other editions.

Ah I see. So theres no real differences in the edit itself? Either way I'm about to go replace my DVD5...

The big difference in the edits is the scene with the arm on the floor in the cantina. There are several different versions. Haha. You may have heard about "the great flipper debate," which is where it came from. Ponda Baba (the walrus man) has flipper-like hands, but in the original, it's a hairy arm, like the wolf man might have. Doesn't make any sense. So Ady made a flipper hand to replace it, but didn't use it in the end. It was then determined that it should be Dr. Evasan's arm, but Ponda's (he is the one that screams, after all!). So, the final version is a cameo of Ady's arm, as photographed by his wife. Haha.

Oh, and the DVD-9 has a full trivia subtitle track added. I don't think the other versions do. It's a great insight into how Ady made everything and some of the decisions he made. It's funny at times, too.

9 - "Ultimate" version - Trivia Track, Easter Eggs, Bonus Features, better video quality if you have a super-high end TV.

5 - "Semi-Ultimate" version - Trivia Track, fewer Bonus Features, no Easter Eggs.  Decent quality for most people.

5 Purist - Undoes some more hotly debated changes - some editing, no added music.  Barebones, no menus, no trivia, no bonus, no eggs, nothing.

Xvid - "Workprint" version - still had some FX issues and other tweaks that slipped through and were fixed on the 5 and 9 versions.

Purist is only available in NTSC, everything else comes in NTSC or PAL, I believe.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
