I've seen some of the color correction split screen comparisons on youtube. If anything those are great to point out just how bad the 2004 transfers were. I don't know if those are the final look or still in progress but there are a few cases where I think the part of the shot should stay blue.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTp8mKFxmbg&feature=related

In the Milennium Falcon. There's a bright wide light in the cockpit. One example is at 50 seconds above Leia's head. I'm pretty sure that's part is blue even on the gout.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaskolmE944

Some of the exterior shots of the walkers. The sky looks like it loses too much of the blue hue with the color correction. This occurs at 29 37 49 53 seconds. Now I saw another comparison uploaded about 3 months later in October called Hoth Split Screen. It seems to be the same part but with different color correction. The sky appears to maintain it's proper blue color in this sample.

The hoth battle clip you posted the link to was a first pass of the colour correction. The later one you mention is the final one

as for the cockpit lights here's a comparison between versions:

Well I guess it's a matter of culture :)

Let's close the brackets then.

To get back to the topic, I've just noticed  something on moviemistakes.com (great site):

Is this fixable in any way?

Those are terrible mistakes that should all be fixed. Most of them are a lot more noticible than chewie's foot. Especially the one where Han's jacket just appears on him. WOW

^That's a really old one that was "fixed" in the 2004 DVD. And it was never his jacket, it's just a shadow trick. There's a video somewhere that shows him stapping back into the shadow and the difference in lighting on his shoulders is tremendous.

um, sorry to knock on your bucket, but that's a jacket, not a shadow.  There's no way his shirt can be white AND black at the same time if he is in a shadow (which would shade his entire shirt, including his collar).

Because you know if this isn't fixed, the whole movie will be ruined for me.  FOREVER!

First of all, it is already fixed on the 2004 DVD...

Secondly, can someone find the video I'm talking about, please? It may be in Building Empire... *checking* YUP! At 1:40:28. Take out your copy and watch. The lighting is high and shows his white shirt clearly. Then they clap the clapperboard in front of Harrison, and the lights go down. His collar remains light, but the rest of his shirt gets very dark...as if he's wearing his jacket. Shadows are tricky things, and that's all this ever was.

Here, at 1:28 (and it's even more obvious on the DVD): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4Md_A2Plug&feature=channel_page

Now, let's put this to bed. ;)

u got a point, but he did live some small part of his life on mandalore, so he should have some hint of the accent.

That's not a jacket on Han, it was a lighting continuity error. As said above it was shown to be so on a BTS clip.

Adywan, are you going to the look at the stills on moviemistakes.com for a guide on errors to correct?

wuuuuut that can't possibly be a lighting issue

As has been said MANY times before: your eyes are playing a trick on you

see the dark jacket here and the white colar of his shirt?

Well, it's no jacket.

I cut the above picture out of this one:

You must've seen this before:

A and B are the exact same color. Test it in Gimp, Photoshop,  Paint, ... if you don't believe me.

Sorry to knock your bucket (lol) but it is you that is wrong. It is not his jacket at all but just the lighting that created this illusion. Here's the proof taken from Empire of Dreams.

So there you have it. Solved

yes, i've been looking through that site.

We also have to remember that Adywan has already gone through the film literally frame by frame to do his color correction.  Ady, did you find anything on your go-through that any of the "mistake" sites have missed?

Case in point, Ewan McGregor in The Island. He plays two characters in that: a clone and the template. The clone has an American accent (and Ewan does a FANTASTIC American accent, for anyone who's seen this or Down with Love), and the template has Ewan's natural UK accent.

Sorry, but I had to respond to that. I think that this illustrates that accents are not hereditary fairly well.

Here is a new, updated version of my TESB alternate opening with isolated music score:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JWJ3Gadwuk

The first version had some odd jump cuts and image quality was so-so. Now image quality is better, jump cuts are gone and I've updated the aditional shots needed to sync the music. I think is nicer now, hope you like it.

There's been some talk before about the two different probe droid landings. In my clip I have "corrected" it (now there's only ONE probe), even though I'm not sure of the results.

Also, insisting that Boba must be Jango's clone is a bit premature since AOTC:R won't be released for quite a few years. Continuity in the revisited universe thus far has only one established film which is must recognize...

Okay, I'll admit defeat... but I would not have believed it until I saw it.  It has to be the material his "shirt" is made out of, because if it was a regular good ole fashion cotton shirt, there is NO WAY his shoulder could be dark black and his collar white like it is above, especially when you have the right-side light source illuminating Han's entire left side (which should have made the left side of the image dark and the right side lighter in color).

Regardless, there you go..

And Ady: you should have said "not to tug on your beard (especially during Christmas time)..."  Riplin has the bucket.  >:)

Thank Christ the jacket debate of 2008 is over.

That was one change in the 04 dvd that they just didn't need to make.

Adyman, I say go back to the original and not the 'white' enhanced version  :)

Talking about colourcorrection...

While watching the colour corrected AVCHD I noticed that in the close-ups of Han in the carbon freezing scene his cheeks (and shirt) look rather yellow.

It felt a bit unnatural to me, comparing to the colour of the rest of his face.

To clearly demonstrate what I mean I made a quick comparison by desaturating the yellow channel (by about -60%):

(I'll admit I pulled down the red a notch as well because while looking at the still shot in Gimp I got the feeling Han's face was about to explode :P)

Now he looks like he's got peach fuzz all over his face... no offense DarthBo, but I think Ady's is a little closer there.  Like that you lowered the red level though.

Yeah!

And uh...I'm drinking a Tizer. There's some British goodness right there. I was inspired after watching the Monty Python episode "The Cycling Tour" last night. I think I've had it before, but I can't remember. Anyway, it's good. And has nothing to do with ESB. Sorry.
