Does a thread exist to discuss Adywan's PT edits?

I believe the only Adywan Revisited threads are this, the IV thread, and the suggestion thread for V and VI. It might be a good idea to have a floating thread for those, but it seems like it's a bit early. I mean, based upon the estimates so far, it'll be at least 3 or 4 years before Adywan gets to the prequels.

It's Ady's fan edit, he can put pink TIE fighters in with yellow spots on if he wants.
He has made his justification for going with grey and that is surely enough for a fan edit.
If other people want to have ESB:R with blue TIE fighters they can (giving credit where it is due) put them back in themselves.
Some of the people posting on here seem to act as if this the Adywan Pizza Palace where you can insist on the toppings you demand.
These threads are for making suggestions, not barking orders at the poor chap.
We aren't paying him for these fan edits so there isn't any space for foot stomping.

Ok, it's not that simple. In space, the Empire has green lasers. The storm troopers shoot red lasers, and the Sith carry red light sabers (and Luke had a green one in ROTJ). Now we need Star Wars ANH Revisited Revisited to fix these anomalies. ;-)
In all seriousness, the AT-AT's are much larger than hand-held weapons and deserve the green lasers in my opinion.
Adywan (or anyone who knows) when doing ESB revisited, is the source material HD or SD? In other words, will we see an HD version of ESB Revisited?

Anyways, Adywan's made it clear he's stickin' with the red AT-AT lasers, and as many have stated, it's his show. While I think it would be cool and maybe (maybe) more fitting (again: big stuff, green, small stuff, red), this is going to be for me or someone else to do editing-wise. The bottom line is that Adywan is doing all the work, so HE gets to do what he wants since he is the one doing it.
Adywan: sorry if you've gotten an ulcer or migrane or slight pain in the rump because of me or others - I understand, as a previous poster put it, that we are DAMN lucky to have a dude who is willing to spend a YEAR or more of his time to do what an entire corporation couldn't. While I have my niggles, I'm sure most of us will be blown away.
BTW, have you thought of sectioning out some of the work to other editors on fanedit.org to take some of the load off of yourself?

I'm guessing Ady's mantra is "If you want to do something right, you gotta do it yourself."
Here's a small idea you could possibly use in both ESB and ROTJ:
add Boba saying "Friend" after one or some of his lines (like when he's talking to Vader or the guy loading Solo's body onto the Slave 1), along the line of dialogue he had with Luke and Han in the SW:HS cartoon. You know, just a little something to connect it to the fact that they have a history and its part of Boba's character. This would be easy because you could use the audio from the cartoon.
Not a biggie but just an idea - maybe something to tinker with just to see how it sounds.

Hi Monroville! Yes I just recently discovered Adywan's great work when he released the HD version of Star Wars for PS3 and Blu-Ray players. I was very impressed with the color correction. Then I discovered Star Wars Revisited and got very excited about it and told tons of people and made copies for them. Strangers have even asked me about it when I am at restaurants talking about it with whoever I am there with.
I haven't taken the time to read all 159 pages for ESB Revisited, but was under the impression the AT-AT lasers would be green. My bad. Oh well, I can imagine how cool it would have looked, but I am not going to get all upset that they will be red (or blue or gray, lol). It's funny I never noticed the blue TIE's before. I had the Darth Vader Tie as a kid and it was gray.
Earlier I asked about HD, but it hasn't been confirmed or denied yet. Will we see ESB-R in HD? I am very much looking forward to the regular ESB in HD with the color correction and don't mind if ESB-R is only SD, but just asking... :-)
Ady made an attempt at doing ESB:R in 720p HD but it seriously limited the amount of alternate source material he could use for corrections and changes. It also took longer to render out, so he went back to SD.

First off, I'd like to offer my sympathy to Adywan for his recent loss. I've been so busy lately, I've fallen behind in keeping up here. I'm glad to see you're back at work, now. I know that work can definitely take the mind away from sorrow, at least temporarily.
This latest debate involving the tie fighters is interesting. Funny how I guess I've never noticed the difference before. Now of course, it's something I can't not see if I tried.
I wanted to share a thought I had earlier today after I watched some old trailers from the Editdroid 4-disc extras, which Adywan has posted to a.b.starwars. I almost hate to bring it back up, as it involves the green AT-AT laser debate, but this really struck me as a Holy S__t moment, so I wanted to share it here and hopefully get an explanation. I was watching disc 3 of the Editdroid extras, which contains many different trailers for the original trilogy. Suddenly, as I was watching the german trailer for The Empire Strikes Back, my jaw dropped. There were a few seconds of footage of the Hoth battle, and the AT-ATs were firing green lasers. I kid you not. There was the shot when some blasts hit a Rebel turret, and other blasts zip by, and they were all green. Then, when you first see the front AT-ATs, they are firing green lasers also. The Rebels were still firing red lasers, but the Empire was firing green. At first, I thought I was just seeing things, so I went back, and stepped though the shots, frame-by-frame. Pure green lasers. But how could this be? Then I watched the first USA full trailer, which must be rare, as it appeared to come from 8mm or 16mm, complete with severe flicker, and although the color was faded very badly on this trailer, it also featured the green lasers, as this was the same trailer as the German trailer, only in English.
If anybody has this set (and if you don't, here's your chance to get them--it is an amazing set--thanks, Adywan), please check it out. Does anybody know anything about this. As it was an early trailer, a year before its release, I wonder if they did indeed plan initially to give the AT-ATs green lasers, then changed their mind during the production. I know this topic was already beaten to the ground, but I thought this deserved to be mentioned, at the very least to hopefully hear an explanation. I also noticed a Revenge Of The Jedi trailer which featured Luke swinging a blue lightsaber on the Sail Barge, not green. Interesting...
RE the Luke with a blue saber in Jedi, that was changed simply because the blue did not stand up well against the Tattooine blue sky. My assumption would be that the green was changed to red on Hoth for a similar reason.
I don't doubt your explanation. Most likely, Lucas made the decision due to the contrasts in color. But that does make me question the AT-ATs' laser color, because that trailer proves that he himself intended to give the AT-ATs green lasers. This means that the correct and appropriate color was green, but was changed only as a cosmetic decision, with the thinking that red would stand out better on Hoth. There will certainly be people on both ends of the spectrum here, as far as which looks better, but the bottom line is that it was supposed to be green, and was changed later in production due to color contrasts with the snow/sky. Based on that, I feel that the lasers could certainly be changed to green without upsetting any continuity. I understand that Adywan is against this, so I won't be mentioning this again, but my feeling is that if Lucas had planned for green lasers, and only changed them because of how they looked against the sky, then this whole suggestion of changing them back to green was certainly not out of the realm of possibility. Myself, I thought they really jumped out in the trailer, but then I didn't really have a problem with Luke's blue lightsaber on tatooine, either. I think Lucas was more concerned about those contrasts than he needed to be.

Gotta call you out on the bolded parts there, man. That's "Modern Lucas" mentality, that he always had ultimate dictatorial control over every bit of minutia. Back in those days, he wasn't the control freak he is now. It's just as equally possible that ILM did the green lasers on a whim because they were under a deadline to deliver a finished shot for the trailer, THEN Lucas took the time to look at it after the trailer was out and said "Make them red in the final film".
I'm also in the "don't care either way" camp, but Ady's attitude since the beginning of ANH:R has generally been "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Lucas changing things just because it CAN be changed is what got SW into this mess in the first place.

That is purely speculative and is not an arugment that you can adequately back up soley with a tralier that was released "a year before" ESB hit theaters. Based on such limited evidince there could be an infinite number of possible explanations for why the lasers were green.

And The Incredible Hulk was originally grey. It was only problems with inking that turned him green. Haha. (and there's a red one, too!)
I'd settle for just a color corrected version of Empire. I'm like Ady as I think that it's a nearly perfect movie. Don't care about lasers.
Can't wait for some of the new effects clips.....color looks great, but the tweaked scenes are what's really going to complete an already great movie....
