One thing I noticed is that when the Star Destroyer is shot and disabled by the Ion Cannon, the Rebel Transport that flies by has a noticeable matte frame around it.
yeh, thats always been there. things like that won't be cleaned up until i get around to the FX stage
personally i wouldnt like to see veers die, it would appear that the empire has lost slightly, and would lessen the defeat for the rebels. if anything more rebels should be killed, and maybe transports shot down just to sour the end of ANH further.
but a bonus scene would be cool!

Excellent work as always Ady. However, when you get into the FX stage, I really hope you do something with all the obvious matte painting shots like this:

I don't mean to drag this on, but has anyone considered the addition of 'drop ships' towards the end of the ground battle? - rather than interfering with the awesome reveal of the walkers and such.

Removed SE elements of Vaders shuttle leaving Bespin & docking with the Stardestroyer.
Isn't there a way to put back the "Bring my shuttle line" and keep Vader' s shuttle?
I think a lot of fans hate that addition because we lose the line. Isn't possible to have the best of both worlds?
The first rule of a director is show, don't just tell. Yeah, we know how Vader got back to the Executor, but shouldn't we see it?

The Vader shuttle line/visuals isn't just a matter of whether or not to show the shuttle, it's a pacing issue with the editing and music. It slows down the flow of the entire sequence.
As for Ady's latest clip - was that new graphics on the sides of the binocular shot? :-)

ADYWAN seemlessly added ROTS music to the Obi/Vader duel and didn't miss a beat.
It flowed great.
As far as pacing goes, we're talking three scenes (platform, view of shuttle approaching Star Destroyer, and landing/Vader exit). At most, it's fifteen to twenty seconds total.
I still say the dislike comes from losing the "Bring my shuttle" line. It's misdirected anger.

I think it's safe to speak for many, many members here in saying that the bigger problem isn't losing the "bring my shuttle" line, but that the pacing feels messed up by adding in the extra scenes, even if it is just 15 to 20 seconds. Even in the theater, I thought "why did they get some guy [yeah, I know, I know... ;)] to voice Vader for such a throwaway scene?"
Has Adywan already made the choice to remove it? If he already has, well, it would be silly of me to bring it up.

I came in late on that one, but read most of it. (I think it was up to 83 pages or so when I started) Really fascinating. He went through a lot! Some of the technical and financial issues are popping up with ESB:R, but hopefully not in the way of more personal issues. A less determined person may have given up with some of the abuse he received at times.
Man, I hope he doesn't give up.

have seen ANH:R of course, which I found very bold and well done, and now here I am, willing to add an (minor) idea which I think you didn't talk about in the previous posts: Adywan, I was wondering if you, when you'll be at the FX stage, intended to improve the horrible matte of Han Solo carbon block when being taken to the Slave 1. This is kinda horrible when you at it in slow-motion, so if there was any idea to make it look better (3D model of the carbon block?)...
I know, this is just detail, but I love details :P
To change the subject, Adywan, what are the softwares you use to edit (I like editing)?

Hey Adywan... in the latest clip, when vader is seen in his little chamber thing, and he pulls up the video feed of the admiral and eventually chokes him......is there any way to make that kind of black and white channel search part before the admiral is shown, a little less 70's-80's looking? I don't even know what you would do, but it just gives the scene a Buck Rogers, original Star Trek TV show type of feel in my opinion.
I had a idea for the ion cannon after watching the new clone wars show tonight. Wouldn't look cooler if instead of it shooting a standard laser shot, if Ady could make the laser bolts look electrical. They should maintain the same shape and size , but have a more electric look. What do you guys think?

Actually, I think that's worth a try. Sounds cool.
I like seeing different looking explosions/laser/blasts and stuff.
I wish the stun effect on the troopers weapons had made another appearence in the saga...it's cool but we only see it once...

If you mean the ion cannon on Hoth, that would work. The regular troop blasters don't need any extra blast animation.
