Adywan, you are doing more than any other individual to bring back the joy of Star Wars to many fanboys.  I just finished my own slightly tweaked personal edit of your ANH Revisited, and am deeply satisfied with it.

Thank you, thank you.  My OOT nightmare (at least for ANH so far) is over.  A dual-layered professional-looking version of ANH that I can rest easy about, with ESB and ROTJ on the way.  Astounding.  Masterful, beautiful, just what we needed.

*Sniff* I'm done now.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Yep, Chips are definitely things you have with Fish, and Crisps are best found in a noisy bag!

So if crisps are chips, and chips are fries, then what are fries?

I've always been tickled by how the American word "fanny pack" is interpreted in the UK as well.

Park on the driveway, drive on the parkway.

Cargo goes by ship.  Shipments go by truck.

A woman has a pair of panties but just one bra.

And while we're on the subject of women's stuff - years ago it was a major breakthrough that they came out with "disposable douche".  What I'd like to know is, who would want to keep it in the first place?  AND, how were they getting rid of it before it was disposable???

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

It seems there is no way to get further off topic than we are right now.

So, Adywan, what has been your toughest shot to color correct so far?  And maybe could you do another Photoshop file showing all the layers just in your color correction?

I have a suggestion..

There's this little scene involving Chewie and flake of snow........

Last time I watched ESB, not only did I see the flake on his foot, but there's one on his left shoulder as well! Did you catch that one?

Well i've only just begun the second phase of the colour correction but i would have to say that dagobah has been the biggest challenge so far. trying to get yoda his correct colouring, or even somehwere close, has been a nightmare but i've finally got Yoda looking the way i want him to. It took many, many masks & layers to try to rebuild the colour . I think this shot alone shows just how bad the colour is with the 2004 transfer

oh , Hotrod, i've had a good look at the footage and i've discovered that it isn't a snowflake on Chewies foot. It's actually Wookie dandruff :)

Still, I think it's down to a LFL error, though, because surely the stiff Hoth breezes would've blown it away. It was obviously a very clingy bit that they missed.

Ady, surely there's an easier way for you to color correct without having to use tons of masks. I did a quick color correct on the original 2004 lucasfilm frame from the pic you posted. Only took me a couple of mineuts in photoshop to find a pure black and neutral color point to bring back the original color in the frame. I also used another photoshop tool to completely remove the unwanted cyan out of the frame.

I hope you don't mind me showing this example.

Adywan... WOW... that is amazing! Simply phenomenal... this brings back soo many memories, the first time  I saw Empire was when it hit VHS. The local AlphaBeta was the first store to offer rentals and they just played ESB over and over... THIS is how it looked! When the 2004 DVD's came out, well, we all know how that turned out, it just didn;t lok like the Star Wars I remembered....  Great work Ady, you haven't just shifted hues here, this is a true work of art, MUCH congrats!!!

Ah I don't get it? Is your example supposed to be the same or close to Adywan"s?  It doesn't have the blue tint to it but still looks off and washed out to me..last time I looked Yoda wasn't grey.

I simply used another method  to get a similar result. Not trying to copy Ady's result directly. The grey you see is the specular highlight from the material Yoda is made from. You can also see that Yoda's wardrobe has a specular highlight also. It's there because it's catching the light from overhead on the set, and there is still plenty of green to be seen on yoda.

Adys specular is not as visible because he is still not finished with his color correction. Mine is a finished example, and I highly doubt Adys finished product will look exactly like my example.

Man!  The 04 tint is so obvious, that even a program that comes with my computer knows its wrong when it "color-corrects" it.

In case you missed it: Will you make Luke's sleeve a little burnt or have tiny flames fade away off of them like in ANH? It always bothered me how his hand was cut clean but his sleeve was left in tact!

Also, is there a way to make ESB's Yoda a mix between OT and PT Yoda? That way in his prime he's in CGI and then we transition to him in his old ages where he still has a lot of emotion in his face and can still move his ears but then you could leave him crippled in ROTJ. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of times when you use muppets some parts get wobbly if it's rubber. For example, yoda's whole body when he walks/Yoda's ears. I'm wondering if you could make his walking more smooth, and have his ears move a little like in PT to be more consistent.

The blue is intentional, GL always meant for Yoda to be blue as you can see on this early concept art:

blue yoda
Apparently he could not do it with the technology available at the time, but in 2004 he was able to go back and fix it. :P

I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Also there are weird color artifacts that are reddish brown on the lower half of yoda's face. The same with his tunic. These types of artifacts would be amplified with video because they would shift all over the place.

I'm really impressed with what Ady has been able to pull off with yoda... black magic indeed!
