Adywan, have you seen Building Empire, there are some great things to composite, wink wink wink wink ect.....

I with my limited brain power will create my own mock ups, rather in words than images, becase a 1000 words make up an Picture; or something like that!

Don't kill yourself, I need you :]

well the colour correction on Empire is coming along nicely. Vaders saber is again red and not pink. The walls in Cloud City are no longer blue. But there are many shots where most of the colour information is almost gone. I've said it before, and i'll say it again: Whoever did the colour restoration on these movies needs to be shot.  I'll post some more screenshots later

"You are free to use any methods necessary but I want them alive. No disintegrations."

You can't show them how to do the job properly if you vaporise them.

So are you just color correcting Vader's saber to be red, or are you going to go through and redo all of the sabers and laser blasts like you did with ANHR?

I'm recolouring the red for now, just for the AVCHD version, but for revisited i will be re-rotoscoping all the sabers

Excellent!  I don't envy you re-rotoscoping the carbonite pit duel with all the smoke.  I still can't believe they were able to do that by hand back then!

First Post!  Yes please keep the new boba voice.  He IS a clone of Jango remember?

I do realize that there are a lot of pages to go through so you may have missed it, but Adywan already said the old voice will be restored, because the line readings were better and the original voice was more menacing. (And keep in mind that Leia and Anakin both had different voices with their helmets on :)

Do you sound just like your dad?  I didn't think so.  Lucas suggesting that since he's a clone that he should sound just like him ignores everything about speech patterns.  Take someone from the southwest US and plop them down in Ireland.  Within a year, they'll be speaking with an Irish accent.  Accents are learned, they're not something you just grow up with.

Without hearing his fathers voice on a daily basis, Boba would surely develop his own speech patterns.

yeah people were having this "debate" on another borad i am on. just because someone is a clone doesnt change the fact that they're human.

when skimming through this mammoth thread i remember it being mentioned that the emperor dialog was being updated aswell as his face but i cant find the post anymore.

can anyone remind me what's being changed/updated?

We don't have an official list yet (Adywan is working on it, I think).

Basically, my understanding is that it comes down to an un-Special Edition with some tweaks here and there.

The 2004 Emperor voice will remain, but the dialog will be modified to match as closely as possible the original dialog.  The bad Revenge of the Sith makeup job will be replaced with modified video/images from Return of the Jedi (see the ESB Revisited Teaser Trailer).

Windows in Cloud City will remain open for the most part, with windows that disappear all of a sudden remaining open.

Boba's voice will be changed back to the original, and Jango's helmeted voice will be modified in some way in Attack of the Clones Revisited.

There will be no noticable score, plot, or pacing changes as for the most part ESB is already perfect.

Now this is all to my understanding of Ady's past posts.  There might be other changes he's willing to share shortly.  Part of me wants to know every tweak he's going to do, the rest of me wants to be surprised.  I think the "know-everything" part will win though.  It's in my nature.

Look how a helmet changed voices in ROTJ for Leia as Boussh....evrything was "Yo-to!" like a Galactic Teletubbie!

Oh man... The voice work in Jedi is so lazy! They re-use Greedo lines verbatim, "Boussh" has an incredibly limited vocabulary, Bib Fortuna doesn't know whether to speak Huttese or "basic", etc... It would be cool if Ady had the exact method to make Boussh's voice and record something new. :p

I assure you we are quite safe from your friends here

It sounds more like the Dalek's friend the good old Ring Modulator to me (at a lower modulation than the fascistic pepperpots use).

YES! Nice!

Just a question, are you going to change the falcones engine to blue?

Some new colour comparison screenshots:

Loving the return of the white walls and the red Sith sabre Ady but I also noticed that the blue tint actually helped the Cloud City exterior shots (possibly because it created an illusion of natural sunlight and hid some of the thick matte lines) those shots seem to be the only ones which looked not so bad (in thumbnail at least) on the dreaded DVD version than after your clean up. Perhaps experimenting with a bit of blue tint in just those scenes might uncover a happier middle ground (just noticed how mauve the Rebel transport looks on the DVD side in the final selection, how did they get away with it?).

yes. That will happen in the FX clean-up stage. But even in the GOUT the engines are red/orange in many shots. heres one of the mate shots taken from the GOUT:

Actually the exterior matte shots have ahd a very pink tint added to them and other exterior shots have been reddened, which makes them look terrible and totally un-natural. If you look at the sky in the matte shots of the 2004 transfer the sky has had all blue stripped from it. There is a lot of work to be done on this edit.

You may notice I amended my earlier post as on closer inspection they didn't look better but not quite so hideous as the rest of the DVD alterations. The DVD version does hide a lot of the compositing hiccups but loses some of the contrast in the process.

I do appreciate how much hard work has already gone into this project, just looking at the comparisons shows that.

White walls?  Red sabers?  Grey ships?  It's almost like they were meant to be seen this way!

Now that i think of it, why does it have a red/orange glow, was it ment like that, or an accident during post production?
