With the skills of Andreas, are you tempted to fix the obvious cg additions to Star Wars especially the approach and drive through of Mos Eisley when you get round to the HD revision of SW:R

Andreas is the guy who is doing the CG work for me
I guess I only knew his screenname... He does amazing work!adywan said:

I've seen many attempts to re-create the crawl but everyone i have seen have had the same problems: as the crawl recedes the texts begins to flicker & strobe. It's an anti-aliasing problem which after effects really suffers with.
Yeah, the aliasing is indeed a problem, it's the only thing that bugs me about my 1977 crawl I recreated using the original elements. I tried blurring the end slightly but it only helped a little.
Maybe Ady can help...Harmy said:

It wouldn't be any good to anyone that wants to recreate a crawl for a preservation because it just wouldn't match because of the timing, sizing etc. otherwise i would be more than willing to help Harmy
Thank you. I responded in my thread :-)

I really don't see what the problem people have with the entrance to mos Eisley is. There is hardly any Cg in there at all. All the buildings etc were models. Only the speeder and some minor stuff that is left in the revisited edit was actually CG. People complain because they see Mos Eisley as this small spaceport and the SE turned it into something larger. Well it was always supposed to be a lot larger and , before anyone says it, no i'm not taking this from the Lucas revision. The falcon was parked at docking bay 94. that means that there is at least 93 other docking bays so it has to be a larger place than we originally thought. It was actually one of the only additions i thought was right in the special editions (apart from the crap droid and ronto/jawa humour and stupid ronto blocking the camera). The only thing i would probably change is the mirrored stormtroopers
Fair enough, no problem.....
J
Yeah, even the original matte painting overlooking Mos Eisley suggests a bigger place.
I don't disagree with the trying to make Mos Eisley larger....it's just the way it was executed. They may have used physical models, but to me the scene doesn't blend with the rest of the movie, beforehand (apart from the Shuttle, Dewbac & CG troopers) any CG improvements work well, the hovering speeder, the sandcrawler etc.
The Mos Eisley just has a 'new look to it', the high jib shot of the port isn't too bad but the speeder heading up the street with the CG Troopers,....I dunno, Its maybe just me.
j
They aren't CG troopers during the street shot. then only Cg trooper is the one that gets off the Dewback when the droids are outside of the cantina
They mirror each other.....
Look lets leave it, I don't like the new shot & wish it were better done, you like it and thats it......no problem
J
yeh, it was 2 people in stormtrooper costumes shot against blue/ green screen . It was pure laziness on the part of the effects team that they just composited a mirrored copy on the opposite side of the street. Did they seriously think that no one would notice? Like i said before, that is one shot that i will be changing

Found this video with all of the openings overlayed, so you can see how different they all are, and why I'm excited Ady is recreating them all from the same template.

Looks like a race: "And Episode V takes the lead, followed closely by Episode IV...!!!"
:-D
The 04 Episode IV STAR WARS logo is stupidly fast for absolutely no reason.

I am looking forward to the next clip. I am hoping more people will join the facebook group.
Yeah, if we get 2000 "Likes" by May 21, Adywan will release another clip!

I thought I was the only one who noticed that, like you said it was so obvious and it wasnt even like they took the effort to retime them to offset it. Nope they said keep as is. If you change this I will be very grateful, again your comparison video of ESB:R is getting a workout with my kids watching it again and again trying to spot the differences. December cannot get here fast enough. Great work!!
Opening crawl consistency? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! This is so awesome!
Absolutely fantastic news about the 3DSMax crawls. Maybe after you're done, you could create a template so other can follow suit with their own edits. Consistency between episodes is very important to me. I've never found a preset/template that looks right for After Effects or that Star Wars TSG Crawl generator for Mac. Man, the revisited saga just keeps getting better and better.
