I've got no problem with Slave 1's changing paint job.  It's not like it changed shape or anything over the years, it just got a different paint job in the last 30 years.

REMEMBER THAT JANGO'S ARMOR MATCHED THE SLAVE I'S PAINT JOB IN THE PREQUELS, AND BOBA'S ARMOR MATCHED THE SLAVE I'S PAINT JOB IN THE OT.

I never liked Ben Burtt...

Lets leave it at that lol

As for the Jacket... As I said earlier in this thread... what something looks like in reality, is NOT what it looks like on film. Clothing, walls, paint, everything looks different after being filmed due to lighting and other affects.

You ahve to take that into account and kinda accept it as a form of... stylized reality...

What may look blue to one camera is brown to another and so on and so fourth...

I couldn't agree more. And the filmmakers do this on purpose. Look at City of Lost Children for example... the weird makeup everyone wore, and then the colors were done in such a way that it didn't look out of place, but it gave everyone a certain stylized look. I didn't even realize it until I listened to the commentary. Key thing to remember.

I also agree about the paint jobs on the Slave-I. There's simply no need to tinker with stuff to make it "match the prequels" as if such a thing is necessary. If we're going to do that, the Prequels should change to match the originals (like fixing the wrongly shaped Death Star and Tantive IV in Episode III). But really, I think differences in style and tone and visuals from the PT to the OT is a GOOD thing. Why would we want everything to look and sound the same? It's twenty frickin' years later. Stuff changes, even if it's not a leap forward in technology. Look at cars and military craft from the 80's vs. today. Heck, look at how the styles change within the prequel trilogy itself. You can't "correct" that, since it's now part of continuity. Same with the sounds, styles, colors, etc. I think a few folks are overthinking ESB:R. It's been said before... ESB is the movie that really "needs" the least. We shouldn't pile on the changes for Ady to make just because they can be made. This doesn't have to be as extensive an edit. What needs to be fixed first and foremost is the poor color restoration job done in 2004, and second: correcting the excesses of the Special Editions. Third: fixing continuity gaffes ("gaffes" within the same film, not with the prequel trilogy) and bad SFX glitches.

My plea is that we don't go all "fanboy" on this one, it just doesn't need to happen, or it'll end up as bad as Lucas' SE's...

From the sound of it, it's going to take 2 years just for Ady to do the color and sound fixes. He's got plenty of work ahead of him if he's going to do ROTJ:R and the Prequels after that, without throwing in more unnecessary changes.

As far as the Wampa is concerned, I'd love to see the 1997 Wampa look more like the original 1980 Wampa (though I realize his scenes are getting trimmed). Whatever.

Excellent call that was made above about the colors of Boba matching HIS Slave-I and Jango's colors matching HIS. This stuff about modulating Boba's voice to sound more like Jangos... no, just no. And adding a filter to the 2004 lines just makes him sound like a Clone trooper, not as the "best bounty hunter in the galaxy" (thanks SWHS), an evil badass, should sound like!

What you talking about Savage man? The kenner figures are cannon.. Final.. Nuff said. How dare you!!

Joking of course.

I know, they are Lucas approved after all. After all, I try to live my life the Kenner way. I haven't bent my elbows or knees since 1978! :)

Ha...Same here. Still have them all in a nice little shoe box in my parents loft, all in pretty mint condition.

I have seen the coat first hand at Celebration IV, and it is 100% brown.

Yeah, it's not like LucasFilm would ever display something that was inaccurate or in any way re-created.

I think you'll find that when Han Solo encountered Darth Vader on Cloud City his underpants were most definitely brown.

I personally think that ESB needs the most effects work of any of the OT. Lucas barely touched the effects (unlike ANH, where many shots were replaced with CG). And thus, ESB feels very dated (effects-wise I mean, the story is great). ANHR has a very pristine feeling because Ady chose to keep all of Lucas's CG as well as touch up and clean up the effects himself. Coming off of ANHR and watching ESB 2004, the movie looks like it was made 30 years earlier. If Ady wants his OT to feel consistent throughout, then he needs to do a LOT of work on ESB. The only elements that aren't noticeably badly composited are the walkers, and even they could use some stop motion blur or something. Everything needs it's color tweaked for consistency and I think Ady needs to really clean up all of the effects scenes. As long as we get at least as much work as was done on ANHR it should be great. This is a Revisited project, not a Preservation effort.

Adywan did not "keep all of the 04 CG"....most of it was pure crap. Adywan replaced GL's CG (or added to it) with his own CG. Adywan also dumped quite a bit of it into the bin.....thank you Adywan. :)

As a huge fan of the movie in general, one of the great things for me, when watching 'Star Wars:Revisited' right through for the first time, was the fact that from the beginning until the end, there seemed to be some unexpected new addition or tweak just around each corner.  It felt new and refreshed, with a lot of thought and care given to the additions, which included some things that weren't necessarily needed, but sure were nice to have been included.

Having seen the many suggestions so far (with quite a few yet to come no doubt), it seems there are many things throughout 'Empire' that can be added to or enhanced.  No doubt an 'improved' release of the unenhanced Original Trilogy movies will be along sometime from Lucasfilm, and that will be welcome (if a bit late in the day), but in the meantime, I for one hope that this 'Empire' will be very much 'Adywaned' from start to finish, with plenty of surprising little touches to marvel at.  Call me an 'Additionalist', and make 'Empire' even more than it already is Ady, as it is sure to be done with the same care and attention.

Actually I think the reason he kept most of the ESB effects is that they weren't that bad.  Later on in the OT SE less CGI is needed to recreate effects because of the (then) new technological advancements used in creating the original effects.  After all, they did learn new things while creating the movies.

Ady, think you could add some starships to cloud city?  There aren't any ships other than the Falcon and some cloud cars.

Also, I noticed there are no (or hardly any) Mon Calamari cruisers (like the ones that appeared in Episode VI) in the end scenes.  Don't mind adding some of those?  Other than the medical frigate all I'm really seeing are the same rebel transports present at Hoth...

I agree with GoodMusician, that the coat coloration is due to the nature of the camera, combined with the atmosphere/snow/sun.

Well....

Thats it settled then....

Ady -You obviously MUST do TWO versions of this new one.. One Blue Coat, One Brown... Maybe for the surrealists in the audience you could do a special musical edition where it's a coat of MANY colours !?!?!?

Forget the coat I dont care wether its blue or brown, as long as it is one or the other. I just hope something can be done with Luke's arm after he gets his hand cut off. The scene when he is on the weather vain at Cloud City looks like a bad party joke.

Actually, the only cg Ady added were new TIE fighters in the Yavin battle and the only CG he removed were some of the silly and intrusive creatures and robots in the sequence entering Mos Eisley

Actually he is correct. The only CG that was used (apart from graphic displays) was indeed the TIE's for the Death Star battle approach. All the other FX were created using photos of the models and other elements , like the planet and composited in after effects. The explosions are real explosions originally filmed against a black background that are available from the artbeats collection cd's.

But i think the FX in ESB are far superior to the ones in ANH. All i did on ANH:R was some recompositing and colour balancing. The original FX are still there. I'll just be doing the same with ESB. Admittedly more matte lines were cleaned up for the SE version of ANH than the other 2 in the OT, which does make a difference, but the quality fo the FX in ESB & ROTJ are far better than ANH

I like the sounds of the pods in Episode I. But then in Episodes II and III EVERYTHING sounded like a pod racer!

That's pretty much how I feel. When I saw TPM, I did like the sounds of the various pod racers, even the ones that warbled or just had that 'thumpthumpthumpthump' (Sebulba?) sound. But then he just overdid it with the warbling and whistling and whathaveyou.
