Well spotted savmagoett, seems the inaccurate ramp was added for the SE's as the ramp was up in the 'Classic' version.

Hey Ady,

I have been quietly following this thread with enthusiasm.  Hope things have settled out for you a bit in recent months.  And I hope that monitor has gotten a ton of use!

In any case, I wonder if you would briefly update us on how things are proceeding as a whole....  Sure, we get bits and pieces from time to time, and they are quite appreciated, but unless we are truly in the KNOW, it is difficult to guess where the project is in its entirety.  Is there a glimmer at the end of the tunnel, yet?

Actually as the last fighter group out of there that would make sense. Maybe show a ditched T-47 snowspeeder somewhere in the background as it would take too long to load them apparently. ;)
I thought we addressed this? There's no way that "T-47s" are snowspeeders, EU be damned. They're some kind of heavy equipment that a MEDICAL DROID is interested in loading, and can't.  Does that make sense as a snowspeeder? Of course not.  BAD EU! BAD!
Angry Imrahil, is angry.

While I do agree that it makes no sense for a Medical Droid to be interested in snowspeeders, its ok for Rogue Leader to refer to them by their EU name.

Mmm... "EU be damned..." lol... I could care less if you dislike the EU, object my use of it, or what have you... I never once suggested adding more EU to Revisited if that where this objection is coming from (but I have said that sometimes Ady's additions supports the EU inadvertently, not on purpose, nor have I suggested anything as such to Ady for adding more...). Regardless, it was understood what I meant so the point was clear and that is the bottom line, that my communication was understandable. So I don't understand this dramatic objection as it helps no one nor Revisited.

Actually why can't medical droid be interested in military evacuation procedures? The entire Rebellion is a military op, even a medical droid who's in the service of the military is perfectly entitled to question even minor things about the topic of the day: getting the fierfek off of Hoth... We see 3PO bitch and whine about all kinds of stuff on a variety of topics. How they hell does a protocol droid know that navigating and asteroid field is 3720 to 1? Perhaps 2-1B concern about space in the transports and doing things efficiently so that there is room for medical equipment (actually he IS medical equipment) and avoiding a logistical nightmare... Sounds reasonable to me.

Perhaps your objection is with the word "modules"... No... they can't be snowspeeder aka T-47s. Although, just for fun let's pick this apart. The word module can relate to the word "modular" in which leads to the idea of modularity, which means

  • In industrial design, modularity refers to an engineering technique that builds larger systems by combining smaller subsystems.
  • In manufacturing, modularity refers to the use of exchangeable parts or options in the fabrication of an object. (special thanks to wikipedia for existing)

Snowspeeder (I'll use your terms, for now, as not cause further objections) are based off of standard military class speeder. They have been MODIFIED to work in the snow (or do I have to quote several lines from ESB to support this...) and therefore their design is.... wait for it.... wait.... MODULAR (mmm... this one thinks "modified" maybe related to modular or modules... interesting). That is not EU, that is in the movies and thus canon. Furthermore, there are many kinds of speeders which are typically named with a prefix of the type of environment they are being used in ie swampspeeder, skyspeeder, sandspeeder, oh and our fav... snowspeeder. That is EU mostly, although it makes sense to me, sorry if it's too complex or overly EU, but like I said I don't care about such objections. Heh, I guess if I don't care, I'm not sorry then... sorry bout that. =P

So in my opinion the T-47 could be the snowspeeder and "smaller modules into the transports" mean something like snowspeeder bikes? I don't see why not... Maybe they couldn't get them to work but they could pack'em up and use'em else where, thus "getting the smaller modules in to the transports". Mmmm... "but we don't SEE speeder bikes..." some would say... no we don't... but we know they exist (at least on the Imperial side lol). In a galaxy full of fun and fancy repulsor tech why use a smelly bipedal animals (other than the cool/interesting factor)? Mmm... ah well. In my mind it make sense... then again I am slightly crazy... =D So whatever.

If you have a problem with the way I phrase things... err.. I was gonna say "sorry" again but then we've established that I ain't. ^^  Therefore... meh.  Object all you want, but prepare for an very long reply which takes away from concentrating on Revisited... It's probably better to PM me of your objection(s) concerning me/EU... Then I can just reply in kind. I look forward to them. ^^

Thanks OO5, I have a more round about way of making my points... Wish I could make it short and sweet but I'm neither of those. XD

PS I could of gone into the several models of Incom craft designations that start have "T-##" but that may cause more discussion not related to Revisited. PM! =D

Maybe the medical droid is just chatting to Luke about the evacuation to make him feel better and to check he is fit enough for flight duty (he did take quite a bump to his head recently and behind the wheel of a snowspeeder he could be more dangerous than useful if he hadn't sufficiently recovered).

It makes more sense than having a surgeon and a nurse droid in a military briefing as in ROTJ (it's stretching things having that fussy uncamouflaged protocol droid on the Endor raid, even if he did later become useful and they must have better and more portable military scanners than a loud and very visable astrodroid).

There are military protocol units. They're charged with quartermaster duty and procurement. M-3PO units also know all military regs which at this point in the Rebellion they're loosely obeyed... =D

Yes, a shiny gold droid really does kinda take away from commando level insertion into enemy territory. ^^

I'm with Bingowings. I think the med droid just said that as he could've have talked about the weather.

To me, that scene always sounded like when, in real life, the doctor fills with some trivial remark that silent moment that almost always happens as the patient finishes dressing up :)

I have personally seen situations like this, having been to the doctor's a couple times the past few months. Acne issues.

Me and the doctor would occasionally switch to casual talk outside of the reason for my visit. I don't remember what, but still...

Just some secondary verification.

Wow, I didnt read the objection to the subject as dramatic at all, maybe you are taking things a bit to personal. I took the comment as a jest.

If anything your the one who came on with the arrogance and dramatic comments that we have come to know you by. Sorry if that's to harsh but I've been reading this thread over and over just to stay on top of things and most of your comments get personal if anyone say's anything about the EU that's in disagreement with you.

Maybe other's dont want to ruffle your feathers because of your working relationship with the great Ady but like you I speak my mind. Maybe you should be more tolerent of other's when they voice their opinion on the EU and not reply with such contempt and arrogence. You may know alot on the EU (and that's commendable) but you dont have to berate someone for disagreeing with you.

I'm sorry if this offends you but like you (again) I see no reason to take something out of context and berate someone else's opinion.

It's funny how you posted: "...Object all you want, but prepare for an very long reply which takes away from concentrating on Revisited... It's probably better to PM me of your objection(s) concerning me/EU... Then I can just reply in kind. I look forward to them. ^^".....you want to people to reply to you in the PM but you didnt reply in PM to the person(s) who brought up the subject. I look at it like this...if you reply on the thread for everyone to see then they should have the right to reply to you in kind.

Just my humble opinion and I'm sure other's feel the same even if they dont voice it publicly.

Oh by the way make sure you PM me if you want a reply...;-)

Actually dont PM me cause I'm done with the subject.  Now to make this Revisted related....I love Ady's work so far on the ESB:R and can't wait to see more and the new pic is awsome.

In a roundabout way, you answered your own question.  Maybe they resorted to riding Tauntauns BECAUSE they couldn't get the speeder bikes to work in the cold.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Once again, I just think it was someone completely failing to understand the original scene and then making a mountain from a molehill.

So you're going to provide us with the location of the rebel base?

Author
Time

Indeed. I know a lot of "factual" info from the books, but if it defies logic (as it often does, as they pay very little care to what they write and even less so to maintaining continuity with the old info once the prequels came along) then I'm going to use the films as my primary source of "canon". Not an accompanying book.

You're arguing about info that the writers pulled out of their asses and Lucas probably ok'd without even reading. This info changes all the time. It's not important at all.

yeh, things are starting to get back to normal now, thanks. The monitor is getting very good use and  looks great on the workstation.

I'm going to get right back on the model making later next week and will start posting some pics shortly after. A few things have to be redone though because they got damaged when transporting them to my Dads for storage while i was having the work done. The completed sections of the asteroid trench have to be completely redone. These were never meant to be moved in the first place but i did hope that they would survive it, but alas they didn't. Shit happens though and you just have to carry on. :)

I'm working hard on the video side of things at the moment. Getting quite a bit done but it's still going to be a June 2011 release so i will be working on it until May .

The Falcon matte problem has already been fixed. The ramp wasn't closed in the GOUT but they had completely scrubbed out most of it, but you can see part of it. But the SE still screwed this up when trying to fix it.

Any chance the ramp will be closing in this shot?

^^ I think the ramp might remain open b/c Han mentions Lando's people looking over the Falcon.

Hey Ady,

Been following this thread since the very beginning, all i can say is well done mate! You are truely a genius! Because of you i have come to love star wars as much as i did since i was 7, the changes made to the offical dvds were just plain awful and I am glad someone with your talents and eye to detail has come on board to make star wars a true masterpiece as it should be. I am highly anticipating the release of your edit and can only wish it was being released sooner. I congratulate you on all the great work you have done with a new hope and empire so far. Keep it up mate ;)
