So.....the blank shells stay?
As Kurgan said they add more realism. It makes the guns look like they are actually firing, which is more than can be said about the PT blasters. God, when Natalie portman is firing the blaster in AOTC it looks like she just can't be bothered to put any effort into it and it makes all the blaster battles look totally fake. So the shells will be staying.

hey just been catching up and saw the new clip. impressive..
just happens to be the one part in the film i've posted on previously - i suggested that once lando put out the warning it should go onto a continuous repeat so if you were, let's say....drying your hair or hammering a nail in something.. you may have missed what is quite an important, yet short message. it would make sense to put it on repeat. it could just be going on in the background while chewie kills lots of stormtroopers.
the last time i mentioned this, my post was lost in what was quite a heated debate about copyright issues and was ignored by all. just a good time to mention it again i think.
unless you all think it's a rubbish idea. if that's the case, then feel free to ignore it again! :oD
really looking forward to seeing the full film.
I think it would be a distraction to have the same short message repeated over and over, even if it is in the background. It would become very irritating after a while and the focus should be on whats happening in the scene and not something going on in the background.

Seriously, there is no reason to kill off anyone in ROTJ. The MAIN CHARACTER OF THE ENTIRE SAGA dies... isn' t that enough? Luke has just lost his father, I think he's lost enough for one movie.
Well Vader was not one of the heros of the OT saga and it would have added something to ROTJ if one of the main characters was killed off, which that film really needed something. Harrison Ford wanted it to be Han early on in the movie and then there was suggestions that it should be Lando. I'm actually all for someone killing off one of the heroes in ROTJ, so maybe i wasn't joking after all;)
God i love controversy.

Ady, mind if I ask a technical question? How do you go about draining all those blue hues out of the film? I've tried everything I have in Final Cut Pro. Is it something that can be done in an NLE, or do you have to run through it a separate program? I ask because I'd like to do this with my prequel edits. Thanks much.

I did a first pass colour correction in Sony Vegas and then switched to After Effects to do the bulk of it. I use the Hue/saturation filter which lets you control the levels for each colour separately, which is invaluable when working on one of the 2004 transfers. But i had to do a lot of masking of areas to retain a colour where in other areas of a shot it needed to be altered or removed. I'll be moving the whole part of the colour correction over to after effects now as it does have a lot more control

Are there any plans to remove the lines on the ground when C3PO is dragged by R2D2? I am sure this has been brought up before, but I just saw the new clip and nothing appears to be done with it. This always took me out of the experience and reminded me I was watching a movie because I felt like they did that shot several times to get it right and every time they attempted the shot, they left a groove mark.
Great clip though!
Mike
You can't see the lines until 3P0 is being dragged over the top of them so i have never been able to see why a lot of people think this is a mistake and something that needs fixing. Looking at that shot frame by frame it does indeed look like that 3P0 is making those scratch marks and they were not there before. So no fix needed here

I've only ever seen the preview test one you did ages ago and i didn't know you had a finished version. Do you have a link to it?
Hmm, don't seem to remember owning a droid... I mean remember showing a clip I called a preview... anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1TQ11frJ0A was pretty much finalised as far I'm concerned (though it'll need HDing for any new release I make). Comparison version is there as a response.

Sorry, i though i remembered you or someone saying it was a preview/test shot, but i guess that was 4 years ago now
