Nice one!

I've been thinking two-dimensional overlooking the Z-axis. But so did three ISD-captains pursuing the Falcon in its escape from Hoth. What were our Imperial space strategists thinking in that situation?

Strategy in that case would to be use superior numbers to box in the Falcon since Vader wanted them alive... While the fighter limit the Falcon's escape avenues, Star Destroyers move in to lock on with tractor beams to attempt to take the ship. In doing this however the Falcon's superior maneuverability index caused what is now referred to in Imperial Academy text holos as "The Incident at Anoat" in which two Star Destroyers collided into each other. XD

I would have use ion cannons in conjunction with turbolasers but that's me... However, since the Falcon was seconds away from the asteroid field I imagine (making excuses for...) that disabling engines as a ship enters an asteroid field would not be condusive for taking a ship alive as it would probably get smashed to bits by stray rocks.

^Imagine if Ben And Luke had met up with the Sarlacc on their way to Alderaan and had and it joined the Rebels for a handsome fee but fell in love with Leia.

That is a Robot Chicken spoof that has to be made.

I think it's fine as-is.  If anything I could see maybe 2 or 3 SDs far in front of the Executor and it's 2 escorts (say add one to the left and center that are the same size or even a bit smaller than the one way out in front directly to the right of Hoth), and show them moving to the left, top and right (spreading out, forming the outer part of the net).  If there was any problem I have with that shot, it's that I'm left saying: "where's the fleet?"

I would at least move that SD beside the Executor's right and move it little bit more to the right (or top) and put some space between the two.  Right now it looks like the driver could easily make a slight left turn and wreck right into the SSD conning tower.

I too remember thinking ages ago that this was a shot where adywan could potentially end up choosing to show more Stardestroyers, making the fleet seem larger.

However, I now reckon the existing layout works fine just as it is, as going by the 'camera-pan' to the left that we see of the fleet here, any 'other' Stardestroyers (the number is unclear) could just be off-screen a little to the side/behind the Executor at this point, and unseen by our point-of-view....allowing you to imagine your own preference about overall numbers and how 'spread out' the fleet could be, if you see what I mean -

Can't say I agree with the idea of moving the Executor's accompanying right-hand SD further up either, as it's on the same trajectory as the Executor, and very unlikely to deviate.  You could just as easily say that the one on the left could crash into it too if it's course was deliberately changed, if that's the case.

This shot comes immediately after the Rebel General has just been told that the fleet is *coming out'* of hyperspace (and I agree with a lot of Rogue Leader's assesment on the previous page), and Vader orders Piett to 'deploy the fleet so that nothing gets off the system' *after* this shot....implying that the SDs may only start to 'spread outwards' afterwards, as they move closer to the planet....which certainly ties in with the eventual SD positioning that adywan has shown much closer to the planet a little later on.

I also remember that adywan reckoned that the Executor would 'hang back' a bit from the main 'blockading' fleet, and Hoth is certainly a good distance away at this point, compared to his later shot where he now shows additional standard Stardestroyers around the planet.  So unlike the standard SDs, I now imagine that the Executor didn't end up travelling too much nearer to Hoth after we see it in this 'approach' shot.

And after having another look at the tight point-of-views seen during all the existing 'blockade' shots that follow after this 'approach' shot....I'm now also content that we might not necessarily be able to see the Executor in any of them.  If it ends up added somewhere in the distance during any of them, fair enough, but the original shots work fine without it anyway I reckon.

I'm very pleased with what adywan has tweaked though.  :)

By the way, my heart nearly stopped for a moment yesterday, as it seemed plausible that the clumsy dopes that broke ady's workdesk *might* have re-wired things badly too....  Whew!

I've always thinking of that, since I saw the New Hope, how the imperials wanted to catch the falcon. That's makes sense. thx

the Falcon's superior maneuverability

Han: "I made a lot of special modifications myself."

The Imperials might be unaware that they are trying to catch a modified Corellian Freighter that lacks maneuverability in its standard configuration.

Also: Thanks to all of you for the examination of the approach on Hoth!

This is all the proof I need that Fett is dead.  He fell in, and was shot by tentacle-holding blasters.  Sweet!

I hope Ady keeps the Star Destroyer formation as it is (apart from colour correction and such), it looks perfect the way it is and changing it is going down the "just because we can" path.

Remember, if once you start down the George Lucas path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

The concert was amazing. If anyone is in two minds about going or not then just go for it. I was a bit pissed off that we got a smaller exhibition than everywhere else. No helmets, no Boba Fett and a lot of other stuff was nowhere to be found. But i did notice that many of the props were not ones used in the movies and were quickly made castings. But it was still great to get pics of everything (just uploaded a load to my facebook page).  The concert itself was great. It was almost like listening to the soundtrack at times because the orchestra was that good. Now unfortunately the OT clips used are still the same as the 2004 colouring, but..... TPM looked amazing. It was a brilliant transfer. No more pink tint and the colours were so good and not oversaturated like most  of the other saga clips, although the colours in ANH did look much closer to the '97 transfer and not overly blue especially in the Death Star corridors. They weren't the oversaturated blue in the 2004 transfer but closer to grey colouring. Most noticeably in the conference room scenes where the walls were grey and the skin tones were perfect. New Yoda looked great and a lot better rendered than he does in AOTC. The transfer looked so clean and not the dirty transfer that we have been use to. But it didn't look like it had been scrubbed of all grain with DNR. If this is the transfer we get when it finally comes to Blu-Ray then i will be happy. The colours just looked so right.  It's such a pity they couldn't have spent the same amount of care with the OT

Thanks for the report. One thing I was wondering about is if/how much everything was amplified. If a place is not too big, they wouldn't have to amplify much, right? Always nice to feel the power without the aid of speakers.

Hey, how come you don't have the Facebook page in your signature?

So did they fix that issue with the right side of the screen fading in and out every so often?

Nice pics on FB btw... Tell me you got a shot of the Blastech A-295!!! XD They didn't have that at our concert!

Man, I can't find the Facebook links. The one I went to doesn't seem to have any pics from the concert, and I don't know the others. I did a search here because someone (005?) listed them all a while back, but no dice. If someone could do that again, I'd be sure to bookmark them this time! ;)
