I could have sworn it was different in the old VHS. Ah, maybe I'm thinking of another shot.

I'm wondering about the above still. Is Luke outside or inside? The set makes him look like he is walking inside of a hallway when he ought to be in an alley between buildings.
I think it was a fully enclosed interior corridor before the SE. I never liked those "just because we can" "photoshops" to make it look more open anyway.
No, sorry you are mistaken. That's actually one shot that wasn't touched in the SE. (Just click on the image to see it full size)

Looking at the matte painting done for revisited I feel sorry you declined my proposal for a couple of matte, mate (because of my "old" technics if I remember...
Not a critiscism of what have been done though, only I just had a flash at the moment I checked the pictures in your post, seeing the "ideal" background that would have given this plan such a depht as Luke would have looked more lost again into the set, with a simple and effective architectural/perspective effect.
Oh well... just sharing a thought. Perhaps I forgot to mention it is more or less my real job, I don't think I did. ;)

I could have sworn it was different in the old VHS. Ah, maybe I'm thinking of another shot.
I was thinking that perhaps Ady could offer up a nice fully printed cover and labeled version of ANH:R and ESB:R signed by Ady in a donation raffle just to get through the final push towards completion of this project, perhaps with a second prize of just ESB:R signed.
It would also reduce blanket requests down a bit if there was an element of chance thrown in.
Anyone with the kit could print up their own disc labels and covers but having one with a message from Ady written on the inside sleeve would be a nice keepsake.
Seeing as we all know who would have won it would stop such harmless prizes ending up on ebay too.
What may be 'nit-picking' to some, is much-appreciated 'care and attention to detail' to others. How about this example. Here's adywan's original preview of this scene -
....and this is his latest version -
....where we now have a balcony 'railing'!
A trivial thing in the scheme of things, but yet another neat, subtle addition from adywan. Nice work. :)
Architectural continuity! Yay!

This word as made a lot of noise around here. It's just pointless. Adywan is yet generous to show his w.i.p.

I know many here would love to see a mock-up of how you would do the shot. We're easily enthralled by a good mock-up! :)

Awesome new pic there ady.. i love the railings and the new sun posioned buildings :D
Keep it up :D!!!

While I often think that things are over thought in this thread, I do always appreciate the skill in the mock-ups. So you have fans even from the skeptics, haha.
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Its funny how two shots can be different in so subtle ways.

While I love the colour correction, I'm actually inclined to think that the original buildings and sky in the background look better.
It's not a technical detail, but I just think that the original designs of those buildings together with the beautiful blue sky and pearl-white clouds look more inviting than the soft-white buildings from the new shots.
Maybe it's because it looks more surreal (fairytale-like) but I just don't like this new background much.
I'm not saying that the original background couldn't use some sprucing up, but maybe you will consider leaving it more as it was before?
Anyway, just my thoughts :)

The new color of the walls were done to match the rest of the shots.
The new buildings were placed to match the architecture and to fix the bad perspective.
The sky was replaced to match the new bespin shot that luke arrives(as we see in trailer) before.

Well I'm not complaining about the walls, I just meant that maybe the buildings could be more like the originals?

But the originals has nothing to do with the new SE ones that ady kept in his edit.
Im even considering to suggest again like someone else did in the past to remove the originals in some other backdrops that makes no sense :P

Stop nit picking!!!
^If nits are your thing start nit planting, personally I'm not a fan.
I don't like nits. They are itchy, and bite and are irritating and they get everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth and nit free ...

... I can hear from here: "Who's this guy speaking?"... :)
Well, sorry for that. I'm lurking this thread since a couple of weeks and I must admit I don't quite catch who's involved, and I'm still wondereing if people making mock-ups like Vaderios does are only here to show their skill or if they are really working on the Revisited project. In the first case it would be a huge loss of time and a pointless spent of skills... Now, the only thing I know is that I'm not involved, no regret nor bitterness about it, just looks like some people are made to meet each others, or not.
I didn't mean to convince anybody here about what I'm able to do. Now, I find funny that I'm on these board sharing something dedicated to sound restitution since a time from now while I never shown any of my personnal nor professional visual works that could attract or interest many people there. The reason is simple and I'm sure I don't need to explain about it: that's just private.
Just for fun, and to give my words a little credibility will I let you see some 12 years old paintings I've reproduced from SW shots or matte paintings (my only SW related picture works). These (edit: link removed) will not show you any of my creative skills, but rather my first steps as a learner a "long time ago" :). These were acrylics on woodboard, were all about 1,20m long and were direct copies = not layered, so please be gentle (these are scans of paper photos, sorry for the dust and grains). The time for execution was between 1 and 2days with one exception. I don't use acrylics anymore but oils, though I'm familiar and (even) good with 2D and 3D cgi too.
But for now I'm involved in all another genre of work on OT.com. and that's yet quite something. ;)
... Sorry for the (half) off topic !

Angel isn't "showing off" so much as trying to inspire everyone's imaginations, including Ady's. If a picture is a thousand words, we're saving time trying to describe what we see by mocking it up. Ady uses some of the ideas from the mockups, and may even be using some of Angel's work.
I worked for weeks with ImperialFighter to do some primitive (compared to others) mockups of fleet positions around Hoth. When Ady released a clip from that section of the movie, we found that nearly everything we had mocked up had come to pass. Whether or not Ady actually was inspired by ImperialFighter's ideas has not been said, but I finally felt like I contributed something solid to the project, instead of just my comparisons.
Please mock up something if you have the time. I would love to see what you can do now!

I found a great opportunity to keep and improve my skills through these boards because its a good motivation. Like 005 said i never make anything for showing off. I can still name my self as visualizer of the ideas that floating here. so yes I sort of work for the edit. As everybody else here who are helping ady with their ways.
In the first case it would be a huge loss of time and a pointless spent of skills...
Most of the work i do in these topics i put them to my portfolio for future jobs.

Well i believe neither ady wanted to show what he is able to do but he is sharing his passion. i m doing it too. and yes my private other genre art(works) are not placed here.

I admire your paintings and you know it ;) no need to start a digital / traditional debate kind of art.
Now move on

Now that you're pointing this out, there isn't any window frame or anything, it feels to me the corridor ends on some kind of terrace without real ending, but it doesn't mean it's outside, it could just be the open entrance of the building…
That's what I'm saying. It just looks odd to me. I'm not suggesting a change or anything, I just wanted other peoples two cents on it.
Sluggo, now that you mention it, this does look odd.

I like it open, I even welcome it being a bit confusing because it's essentially alien architecture and if it is open or a high roofed atrium leading to a balcony it just adds to the space opera quality of the shot.
It might have been nice if instead of just a balcony it led from the distant landing platform and you could a tiny X-wing parked there, just an idea but I'm pretty much happy with it as it is.
An interesting take on it, but I think I prefer the grandeur of the incredibly high walls of the original.
