STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW — Page 617

Okay I'm confused! I thought that Adywan had only released ANH:Revisited (DVD quality) and he's currently working on a 720p version of ESB. So how come I can find all these 1080p versions of Adywan's ANH:R and ESB:R on torrent sites? Are they fake?

They are not the Revisited versions. The 1080p AVCHD ones i did are colour corrected versions of the Special Editions with ESB being the 1997 theatrical version with the original emperor and not the 2004 version. You can find information for these versions here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/THE-STAR-WARS-SAGA-1080P-AVCHD-DVD-9-for-PS3-Blu-Ray-players-Episode-1-available-now/topic/9536/

Do they have Revisited in the title on these sites or just Adywan?

I think they just mention Adywan, but I thought you only did Revisited editions. So what source did you use for these versions, are they from an actual HDTV broadcast because I don't know of any HD transfers of either the theatrical or SE editions.

Anyway, like I said before, thanks for doing this I really appreciate all the work you've done so far!

EDIT: Also, could you perhaps put up a few comparison screencaps of both the German and British HDTV sources that you're using for this project? I've never seen them and I hear they're quite good, especially the German one :)

And are you using the AC3 soundtrack from the LD for this project or the 2004 DVDs?

This is correct, Adywan recreated what he could of the 97 SE using the 04 SE HD broadcast, using the AC3 from the Laserdisc.  I believe the Laserdisc audio is also the grounds for the Revisited versions due to the much better sound quality.

Oh okay, so if I get this straight, Adywan is planning on two versions for each film? One is a colour-corrected 1080p version, the other is colour-corrected AND edited AND at least 720p, right?

Sorry about asking this again, but It's a bit confusing which version is which ;)

I'm currently in the process of reading through this entire thread, and I'm only on page 157 :(

Here's the process I believe he goes through, or at least what he did / is planning for Empire:

  1. Color correction in 1080p
  2. Make it as close to the 97 SE and release on AVCHD (playable on Blu-ray players)
  3. Shrink the 1080p file to 720p and edit with continued color tweaks.
  4. Mistake cleanups, visual effect enhancements, continued editing.
  5. Audio editing/tweaking using every source possible (LD, DVD, Radio Drama, mono mix, etc).
  6. Release in 720p AVCHD.
  7. Release on dual layer DVD.

So, yes, a 1080p just color corrected 97 SE version and a 720p edited enhanced Revisited version are the HD releases.

I was messing with that shot. In fact toying with the idea of fix the scale problem when is possible without creating others.

Footage for chewie can be the next shot with some variation to the speed.

had in mind that the moving pan shot when luke and han are talking cant fixed then better play with the subconscious of the viewer.

I think that this trick can work when leia gives briefing to pilots too. if not the shot takes a care from ady like the extend of hangar in his last clip ofc :D

That is an EXCELLENT idea and mock up!

But the even BIGGER accomplishment is that he posted it top/bottom instead of left/right!

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Okay thanks!

Something I've always wanted to ask was if there's a difference (quality-wise) between the 97SE LD AC3 soundtrack and the 2004 DVD one? I know about some of the swapped channels and muted music in the 2004 version, but I also heard that the LD version has greated dynamic range? If so, wouldn't it be better to use this instead?

LOL, nice one.  It is a great mockup though.  But can it work for every shot?

The quality differences you stated are true, and I believe that Adywan does use the Laserdisc first.

Hmm.. is it possible to create a dual-layer DVD-9 with menus, etc. but with a 720p video image (and create an ISO file for file transfer)?  I'm just wondering if this will have to be downloaded twice (one for the full dvd with menus and another for the 720p image only).

720p would have to be an AVCHD as the DVD format will only do 480i.  From my understanding, you will have to download it twice to get all the menus and possible bonus features.

If all those scale problems are due to camera lens used during shooting (?), can't we consider this as a choice from the director and not "problems"?

The scale problems are due to the full-size Falcon not actually being "full size" (the cockpit Chewie is standing in is too small).  It's a limitation of budget and should be fixed if physically (computerly?) possible.

EDIT: But since it doesn't bother Ady, it leaves something for someone else to try.

Oh, I see. I thought you talked about that camera lens thing discussed in another thread. My bad.

Hey Adywan, you mentioned somewhere that you had scans of the Star Wars Insider magazine which featured the Lost Cut article. But the links don't work anymore, any chance that you'd put it up again? Thanks :)
