So many questions so many suggestions so little answers.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Let's see that test shot.
Well, I think the Stormtrooper's skin should be painted over. It's supposed to be a full body glove, and you don't see any sort of physical features with the armor on.

What is the point in wearing armor when laser blasts go right through it?
What is the point in pointing out what can be clearly seen? Sometimes it's all about STYLE.
i think that's wat bugged people about the PT or at least one of the things anyways. u never see a soilder without his armor in the OT, so seeing skin under a glove or helment bugs people.
people know already that they're people in armor, not droids.
on the laser subject, as bingo had already said, the armor was made to feed fear into civilians. only the special commando stormies got the pricey durable armor.
Ok, here is the test shot I mentioned. It's not an animation, just a still shot. My Maya is currently on a desktop PC that is out of commision at the moment so I cannot grab and re composite the animation I worked on. The still is from very first render I made, and was just working on the lighting for the scene. The X-Wing is untextured, and the ship angle is just temp. let me know what you think.

It looks good, but I really can't say how good it is without the animation. Is Adywan using this in ESB R?
No, he completed the shot with somebody else I imagine. Like I said earlier, I could not get/find a X-wing model that matched the studio version used in ESB. My render was done back in feburary I think, and Ady hasn't kept in touch with me about it since. Anyway, I'm not worried about it. Ady does a fantastic job with or without my help. Once I get my desktop going again in a few months I will post the full animation I worked on. The animation does look a whole lot better than the still pic.

Augie, the still looks pretty good. There is potential for a cool sequence, depending what you are doing with it.
Using the same model (which looks great by the way) you could try your hand at doing a video mockup of one of the ideas on doubleofive's ROTJ suggestion list.
http://doubleofive.wordpress.com/rotj-fanedit-wishlist/
This sequence for example could really do with a replacement model mapped to the original because of the loss of detail (you can really see it in slow motion).
As the sequence in ESB:R has been completed without your model the ESB/ROTJ Wishlist thread might be a good place to show it as someone doing a different edit of ESB may prefer your version to the one used in ESB:R.
Could I make a request for vertically stacked comparison images? I've only got 1280 pixels! :(

It seems the official ESB/RotJ Wishlist setting is side-by-side, which is nice for the complied Wishlist, but a pain for the thread. :-D

We actually got Vaderios to do that once. Lasted around...two posts? :p I kinda wish they were vertical too since the forum can't display pictures properly anymore and we have to 'right-click --> View' nearly every large/wide picture now.
I have a 17" screen & my browser is filling the screen & I can only ever see half of the second image
I have to wait for someone to quote the image so that I can scroll to the right to view it in full

Right-click on the image and select View Image. (or the equivalent in Explorer) It's the best workaround for now.
I don't want to open a new window to view the image if I can help it
What can I say I'm a lazy begger

Sorry, dual 22" monitors here.
The eye does better comparisons horizontally rather vertical.

Take it from an expert - if you want to get your point across, you have to say more than that.

I'm sorry you're awesome. ;-)

I did not know that. It seems to me that my on-top comparisons are easier for me to see the differences than your side-by-side....

In your case angel, they are SOOOO radically different that that argument just doesn't count LOL

I've reduced the in forum size on my last posted image, hopefully that helps.
I've been a bit coy about fiddling with the image via the forum settings after Jay spent so long updating the forum format and it seemed to be interfering with the flow of things in the early days.
Meh, it'll get fixed eventually. I don't mind taking an extra step for now.
