How about a new screen shot to spark a fire here.
How about a new screen shot to spark a fire here.
As someone said Han is poiting at the crater (which would probably be an interesting place to hide) and then he see the cave (and say "yes", it's definitely a good place to hide)
I don't see it as a huge continuity problem. If Adywan feels uncomfortable with it he can change it, I don't mind.
But there's enough work to do without searching problems when they are not that obvious (at least ot me).
Wasn't there a scene where Han spoke to Chewie but was really looking at Threepio....That needs to be changed too....It just doesn't look right!

Agreed. That's always the way I read that scene too, I have to say.
I don't know if this will help or not but we're selling some pretty detailed die-cast models of the Millenium Falcon and some Snow Speeders for $20 Canadian.

Im saying he provides a great contribution to this thread, and i was tempted to hit on her.
Question to Ass master, how big are they though? And dont you have a web-site yet?

That reminds of the Simpsons:
"Moe: And I was a lot happier before I knew Dame Edna was a man. A *lot* happier."

Yeah possums and shit. Not going there with the Pete Burns references though. I am genuinlly sorry though lady/guy, as i get my own kicks when everyone else is being so damned bloody serious all the time around here. It reminds me of being back in collage! (No, i didnt make it/ I guess im a roody plick)

But... here is one thing I've been meaning to mention for a while, and just kept forgetting to do for some reason... toward the end of the asteroid chase, just before Han finds the asteroid cave, he says "there, that looks pretty good." While he says this line, he points out the cockpit with his finger, implying he VISUALLY spotted it with nothing but the eyes he was born with...
... yet in the next shot, while Leia is asking "what looks pretty good?", the view outside of the cockpit is very clearly NOT showing a cave yet! As they continue flying, only then does the cave appear. How could Han have known there was a cave there? For all he knew, it could have just been another valley!
A fix could be just replacing the footage outside the front of the cockpit to show what Han is talking about, maybe making the cave appear a lot sooner, or making the valley bigger so that they are already flying into it when Leia says the line. Otherwise, it is just illogical to see how Han spotted a cave that he couldn't possibly have seen yet, as he kept the Falcon flying low the entire time.
"What looks pretty good?" Indeed.
um he was saying it about the "ASTEROID" it self
Why would he randomly point out the asteroid they've been flying over for a minute or so already (they lose the TIEs in a canyon on the same asteroid where he points out the cave no one can see yet)?
DarthBo said:There's only two things that always bothered me in ESB. One has already been fixed in the trailer (The Falcon not retracting its landing gear on Bespin), the second is Han pointing at the cave he can't see.
Considering Adywan is rebuilding parts of the asteroid for continuity, I'm fairly sure he'll look at this as well.
I'm only building the canyon part of the asteroid. Building the crater would just be too big and i have a limited amount of space here.
I really don't see a problem with the whole crater thing. Here's how i see it:
Han is a smuggler. he knows of many hiding places to evade capture and has probably evaded the Imperials before by hiding in an asteroid field, or has heard stories of other smugglers using this trick. They think he's crazy when he says he wants to get closer to a big asteroid, but han knows what he's doing. He knows there is a chance of a hiding place. He points as he sees the large crater ahead and then says "yeh, that'll do nicely" as the cave comes into his view

I'm saving all this stuff up for Christmas :)
I'm glad you said that. There seems to be a tendency at times to want to explain everything, including things that really don't need it.
Not sure if this can be done. maybe Ady has to answer to see if yes.
According with this tutorial http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/scene_re-lighting/
you can take an image or video that has been applied on it a normal map filter and do realistic lightsaber interactive lighting in spots that are difficult to use other modes.
Especially when luke's face is shadowed dark several times or Vader's suit.
Can it be done?

"They're not taking me without a fight!"
Ah, but if you watch the scene again, he even starts saying that line before the cave is in sight... and I even made a video showing the scene in as descriptive of a detail as possible, with a few (rough) mock-ups for good measure, just to prove my point.
There is nothing wrong with the theory that Han knows to hide in an asteroid, since he is a smuggler, but that's not what I'm trying to point out. I'm just trying to point out that Han somehow predicted that cave location, and it is illogical.

There's a world of difference between explaining everything, and just making sure everything makes logical sense.

This is my first post so I just had an idea. On Dagobah could you put the ship Yoda arrives in, in the background covered in leafs and vines. And maybe place Yoda's lightsaber in his hut. And have a journal, say Journal of the Whills!!! What do you think guys

What the hell was he talking about Superman and Batman driving his car?? That is possibly the weirdest tangent I've ever heard someone take.

Okay forget about the lightsaber then I think the ship and the Journal should be there
^Think again that Yoda's house supposed to be made from the pod that he arrived there. why we want to see it again?

I am sorry I just thought it was a good idea. I just thought that how could of just disappear you know.
He wasn't talking about you Jed he was talking about the tutorial.
It's proberbly easier to address the problem in the prequels by say having Yoda arrive in a ship that leaves him there rather than in an ET pod (therefore no pod to hide).

Nice one! I don't even think any video changes would have to be made. The first line can stay as-is because we can say he's just seeing a huge canyon (which he might've been able to hide in even if there wasn't a cave), then just delay his "that'll do nicely" line for a second until they come over the ridge. I'm sure someone could do it even though it might mess up the timing of the audio or something.
Well i decided to take the plunge and try out After Effects CS4, even though people have said to stay away from it. Well, i'm hooked. It's worth the swap to CS4 for the Mocha software included alone. The motion tracking capabilities are amazing and 1,000,000x better than After Effect native motion tracker and with a handy little free script i picked up to import the mocha settings easily into after effects this is such a must have. Its solving so many problems i had that there is no way i'm going back to CS3. It's so much faster too :)
Awesome. Glad you're finding stuff to ease your load. : )

I wish i could tell the same for photoshop, Ady.
So with the new improved tools are you going to remade some previous ESB:R shots that were impossible with CS3?
-Angel
I'm still shocked that you hate CS4 so much, Vaderios - in my experience it's been nothing but a vast improvement in every way over CS3. Yes, that includes Photoshop.
