Jar-Jar? "I have a bad feeling about this"...as a side note: I can't imagine what pushed GL to creat a creature such as Jar Jar....he could have gone with something "chewie" like and have that character be the "Chewie" of the PT for Anakin, of course he could have died at the end or what ever but why pursue a creature so.....utterly..........OK! Back to ESB.

Among one of those things of doing "something just because you can", how about showing the googles of the AT-AT that recognize the power generator be more flashhy? hehehe ok, turbolaser time now.....

I know how to make jar jar stand able. Re-dub his voice. Ah ha. He can keep a Jamaican accent  but a cooler Jamaican accent. Like he's about to roll up a big fatty in the middle of tattooine. More like Hermes from Futurama.

I'm not saying get Phil LaMarr. But someone who can speak in a more ''laid back'' Jamaican accent. I'm sure one of us can do a Jamaican accent. Look at all the other gungans they are cool. But Jar Jar is annoying because of his voice and his constant meesa. If you remove his childish shenanigans and re dub his voice he will not stick out like the big annoying thumb he is.

Adywan,

Incredible trailer. I can't believe this is the last we'll see of ESB:R until its release, but I can understand why.

One thing. In the close-up of Vader's saber near Luke's face, you should technically be able to see a reflection of it in Luke's eye. Have you tried doing something about that? I can imagine it would be awfully difficult. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

All in all, the trailer has somehow made the wait easier and more difficult at the same time. I look forward to when we can all start discussing the trailer at length!

I am downloading it now. I just thought of something cool. We usually get comparison pics, how about if someone puts together a comparison trailer. Just a thought

Check out "The Phantom Edit".  The way to fix JarJar, aside from removing some of his antics, is to re-do the sound mix.  Not by re-dubbing a different voice but just by adjusting the levels.  Every time JarJar speaks, THE VOLUME LEVEL GOES WAY UP, and then back down to normal for everyone else.  Bring him back down to the same volume level as the rest of the movie and he becomes a lot more tolerable.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Now that you mention it I do have to turn down the tv everytime Jar Jar speaks so i won't wake anyone up.

Concerning suggestions yet to be covered, I know someone mentioned that the snakes and lizards in the dark cave on Dagobah look a little too terrestrial and ordinary. But I don't know if Ady commented on it. Is there any intention of removing them or doing something to them that gives them a more alien look? I'm sorry if ady's already covered this.

Btw, all these comments are getting me very excited for the offical trailer release. Was it may 21th?

The humans look too ordinary.  I am fine with there being snakes and lizards like our in SW Universe. I believe the SW Universe has pretty much all the animals we have and many more as well.

The snakes always to me made the cave seem darker and scarier. Luke didn't seem to mind them. Look at it as if the star wars universe is in our universe. Its just a galaxy far far away. Snakes could be on any planet for all we know. EVEN THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought of another change to make in the movie.  I hope this doesn't get lost in the pile of trailer comments.

I think it would be cool to show yoda actually doing something to the ship so Luke can't control his landing when trying to land on degobah.  Right now it isn't clear why the ship goes all crazy and luke crashes.  Do you think it is a good idea to add somekind of flash or some other indication that the x-wing has a power outage or EMP blast or something.  This could imply that yoda is controlling the ship so it lands near him instead of on the other side of the planet.

what do you think?

Author

would those of you who does not like snakes and lizards have Adywans whisk them out or add small horns on them, give them different coliurs and strange eyes to make them look more as alien..things?! o.0

I think i's ok to have them there, sure some of the puppets can ge made to look more alive :)

Luke was caught in fog. He couldn't even see the horizon (this has happened to even the best pilots in real life) He was not even a jedi yet so he doesn't have the power to sense a good place to land. It was fog to water as soon as he entered the atmosphere.

There's still something wrong with both pictures: the perspective is way off.  Not only does this shot make Cloud city look as if one end of the city is tipped towards the sky, but in regards to the foreground set with the Slave and the little background buildings, the perspective is off there as well.. I think more buildings should be added here and a new sky complete with a horizon to make things a bit more interesting and 3-dimensional.

This is what I've done personally to this scene:

Some perspective has been corrected; a few more buildings and a new sky with a more visible horizon has been added to correct such issues.  Also note the thick top layer of clouds behind the buildings - a similar effect can be seen from outside the airplane window.  Quite weak for a mock-up, but I did my best, I guess it's up to ady to decide now.

I get the point....I dunno if the movie was going for "A high enough place out of the way for an easy get away" and hence the lack of obstacles for Bobba's escape. you mock up does get a different point across: "A random platform, and walking away to the horizon with his quarry" bit of a western feel to it. now that I think of it.

Isn't Bespin a gas giant?  As such, there would be no horizon, correct?  I really don't remember if there's a horizon in any Bespin shots (and I certainly don't know for sure if you can see a horizon in a gas giant, I've never been to one).

Author

There's always a horizon line, perspective doesnt stop and start on one fixed line in reality, everywher you look there is a horizon line... as Yoda would say.. "it surrounds us... binds us... ties the galaxy together" lol if you would like to study up on basic camera techniques and theory I suggest a text  book called "Shot by Shot".

I know there's always a horizon line in terms of cinematography and perspective, I'm just saying we wouldn't see it the same way on Bespin since there's no ground to differentiate between the clouds.  By definition, a "horizon line" is where the ground meets the sky, correct?  Well, if there's no ground, how can we see a traditional horizon line?

Anyway, I don't see a problem with that shot - it doesn't feel off to me at all (I'm referring to Vaderios' mockup, not the original).

 (Edited)

The horizon line is not defined by having a ground plane,it is always at eye level and is relative to where you are looking from. The term horizon has nothing to do with whether you have a physical ground plane to receed from, which is why you can have a horizon line underwater or in space... even a gas giant.

Loved the trailer.  Loved the color correction, and really loved the shot of Cloud City.  For those who have yet to see it, there's not really a lot of spoilers I could talk about, it's really a mostly classically structured trailer with just a hint of the kind of tweaks Ady is doing.

Great job Ady.  Thanks for the look.
