I was only comparing these three images to eachother. The lighting just feels wrong - the brightness and hazyness of the surrounding vs. the contrasts of the walker's features.

I agree of course with that continuity between shots is more important and I realise that you have to work with what you have.

i can't understand what you mean about Luke's speeder because it isn't in the shot.

I was referring to the dark features half covered by snow, just ahead of the walker. It can be seen in the GOUT and the 2004 DVD version, but you have removed it in your version. Does that not look like a speeder to you? A T-47 without a canopy, perhaps.

Oh I'm in agreement with you about in camera fx. They certainly can be flawed. And I'm not suggesting that they're perfect merely because they are photographed, but that any new shots adhere as closely as possible to the photographed footage, live-action and original fx shots.

That's why that new shot of adys appears to need a little softer focus in the background or a sharper one in the mid. Otherwise, the different focal lengths might stand out way too much. But I'll actually wait though until the footage is out.

And Monroville's suggestion about, to paraphrase him here, "clogging up shots with too many things", certainly warrants some attention.

 

Lars, I think that's a rock outcropping, not a speeder.

Wow.  Honestly, I was kind of worried about the busy-ness of the shot, but I think it flows well, and brings some more battle to the battle, just like you did to Yavin.  Great work.  I don't even think the reused tripped walker needs to be replaced, its hard to tell that its the same one!

Ok, I'm very impressed. I definitely looks better in motion. It's strange (in a good way) how different it looks- eventually, I would love to see a top/bottom comparison of this battle to the original, assuming of course that there aren't new shots. : )

Very, very nicely done, Adywan. It looks absolutely fantastic. There's actually a sense of peril reintroduced to the battle now that was tragically missing from many of Luke's "I think we're alone now" scenes.

Every 27th customer will get a ball-peen hammer, free!

I know this is a work-in-progress, but going through it frame-by-frame (its so short, I'm justified!) I noticed that the falling walker doesn't move for the first frame.  I KNOW you're going to fix it, but I can't be too safe by not saying anything.

It's impossible to see in the full motion, I'm just having a great time flipping back and forth as everything moves but the walker defies all logic and stays perfectly still!

Perhaps your eyes are drawn to the falling AT-AT because you know it's new, show it to someone less familiar with the material and they might focus more on Luke.

The speeder wouldn't still be circling it. The films show they speed off after they detach the cable. Then the walker falls.
