"you WILL get to see a brief glimpse of the new wampa. I've got to admit i'm pretty nervous about revealing this but i though it best to reveal it earlier just in case it doesn't work and i'm looking at it with too favourable eyes just because i built it. but anyway you'll see soon. hopefully it will be ready & online by tomorrow night  and maybe even earlier"

^^ That's awesome.............I wasn't expecting it so soon. Thanks AdY! And I'm sure it'll look fine bTw. Now I'll be checking in on the board every few hours, lol.

Sev.....glad to hear about the CG Yoda being confirmed in Insider, I wasn't aware of that....I definitely give them credit for that one as it'll really improve TpM.........to your point...

"The same goes for any movie ever made can have several things corrected, people aren't as obsessive compulsive as we are on films. Any film can be put thru the ringer and many things corrected in it technically. The film industry doesn't have endless non deadline times to work on things.

It's like with anything. I am sure there are people more obsessed with every detail in a Stephen King novel than Mr King was himself. Same goes for George Lucas and SW, he isn't as quite obsessive compusive with these films as we are. Same goes for just about any director and their films."

^^ Makes sense....I agree with what you are saying. I just think many of us take GL to task a bit more considering he has gone back and done work on these films a few times but still hasn't quite nailed it. Which is pretty much why we're here. In a way I'm glad though - because these projects are a blast to follow and this is now one of my favorite boards.

Anyway, *Forest Gump voice* that's all I have to say about that. LoL

It's only going to be the first reveal at the beginning of the movie. i'll leave the cave sequence for its final release

^^ That sounds great.......I mean the anticipation to see it fully in action will be rough but even a glimpse of what you've done will be cool for now.

Thanks!

Some very interesting future plans revealed there Adywan!

Awesome news about what you've decided to show us of your new Wampa.  When I watch it, I'm just going to imagine it as if it's the first time I've ever seen it.  I'll compare the differences to myself analytically afterwards....  ;)

That's good to hear. :)

Sorry you had to wade through all those crazy posts before. At least people weren't calling you a pikey, nor your dad a wino. ;)

Bravo on your defense of your PT vision, ady. I'm one of those Star Wars fans that's torn over the new trilogy, because there are times where it's simply fantastic and hits all of the same buttons that the original trilogy hit for me, but then there's a clock wipe to a new scene and that feeling is dashed. I know, from having read various posts you've made about the PT that you feel the same, and I think given the time and the right tools that you could offer a unique vision of the PT that has the heart and soul of the OT.

Question about the wampa scene, forgive me if you've mentioned this already. Are you replacing every shot of the wampa with your new model, or just the cave scenes?

I am one of those people who enjoy the PT, but I can see why people do not. The OT will always be the best, the PT could have been, but there were too many missed opprotunities.

Luckily for me, The Clone Wars cartoon is really improving the PT even more for me. I watched the duel from ROTS and it did seem more dramatic just from watching the first 22 episodes of Clone Wars. I feel that at the end of its run it will make the connections and give more depth that the movies on their own could not do.

Whew, glad all those PT posts are over with.

Ady, I got a new suggestion for you.  It's about Luke's X-Wing.  The way ESB is presented right now it suggests that Luke flies from Hoth to Dagobah then Dagobah to Bespin traveling at sublight speed.  We know this is impossible.  It would take Luke weeks if not months to travel between those destinations at such a pace.

My suggestion is we need to see Luke's X-Wing drop out of hyperspace when it reaches the Dagobah system. Jump into hyperspace when he leaves Dagobah.  Then drop out of hyperspace again when he reaches the Bespin system.  We don't need to see Luke jump into hyperspace from Hoth since Luke tells R2 he wants to fly the ship himself just for awhile.  The scenes are all there you just need to do that same cool visual effect you did with the Rebel Transport in your Ion Cannon clip.

Keep on plugging away, Ady.  Your efforts are greatly appreciated.  Hope you feel better soon, bud.

Author

Yeah thats good one! One more jump to hyperspace isnt bad at all.

Also just before we see the stardestroyer chase the falcon, the X wing movement is the same wit ROTJ.

So either here or ROTJ an enter to hyperspace scene will be ace.

Just look at Ric Olie in TPM. he's almost a narrator. why does he have to explain everything that is going on when we can plainly see that?

I laughed when I read that... my friends and I refer to him as "Captain Exposition."

Loved your post Ady.  I really don't get why your edits seem to occasionally get people up in arms -- they act as if you're planning to destroy all other copies of Star Wars on the planet and replace them with your own.  The fact is, you have every right to make an edit, and everyone else has a right to not watch it if they so choose.  As Ripplin (I think) stated, people seem to forget that we're LUCKY you're choosing to share your work with us.  I'll tell ya, it freaks me out to no end when I see people verbally attacking you for doing a fanedit because I think, "Christ, maybe he'll just get so fed up with us that he won't bother releasing his projects in the future."

I'm sure you know this, but hey, it's nice to hear so I'll say it anyway: tons of people love what you're doing, and it means a lot that you're willing to share the fruits of your labour with us.  I can't tell you how excited I am at the prospect of one day having an entire Revisited saga to sit down and watch, as your vision of what the films should be totally coincides with mine and many others here.

So, again, thanks Ady... looking forward to see what you have in store for us.

P.S.  Hope the issue with your tooth gets resolved sooner than later... can't imagine it's too pleasant.

I'm dying to write a rebuttal of Ady's prequel synopsis but I won't, unless someone else starts in. The accent complaint is something I've never heard before. Just because I disagree with him in certains ways, does not mean I don't like what he has done with ANHR and now ESBR.

Author
Time

^ Although I agree with Ady's assessment of the PT, I can see where the issue regarding the accents may come down to personal taste.  His assertions about the editing, however, were bang on and are pretty irrefutable.

But anyway... no more PT talk, right?

totally agree with ady, i like the PT cause i've waited so long  to see a star wars movie again in theatre..., but the feel of the O.T is totaly different..GL editing and directing actors for this movies is really bad including the bad dialogue...there's so much mistakes and discontinuity...exemple : the lightsaber fighting (the most obvious and ridiculous all of the duels in EPII and Mace Vs Palpy in EP III) ..that's why there's so much fan editing (see intersting commentarys of The fantom edit and attack of the fantom).

and now for ESB, ady in comparaison with Revisited is there much more to do with ESB ?!

I've got a time question:

When the Falcon lands on Bespin, is it supposed to be in the a.m., with the final escape at sunset?  Or does it land at sunset of day one, with the escape at sunset, day two?  Or does more time elapse?  Just wondering how much total time elapses here.

O.T. or No T., baby!

I think the official EU (read: bullshit ass-covering) explanation is that the warranty on Artoo's jets had expired by the time of the OT, forcing his CPU to lock them off, or something stupid like that.

I think they should be removed from the PT, not added to the OT.  I thought they were ridiculous and, frankly, stupid.

As most EU explanations for OT-PT continuity errors....seriously I dunno what's the game with making up stupid explanations for all that crap!

i'm going to maybe add a faint saber glow on lukes face only in a couple of closeups. the whole glow issue seems to have been overdone a bit in the PT but the bit where they swing the sabers around their heads in AOTC is going anyway so the other glows are so quick you hardly notice them anyway

REPLY -  Excellent. That will be a good compromise for the 'Empire:R' shots, without having to worry about every possible surface reflection throughout.  These couple of 'close-ups' of Luke's face alone, will be a welcome, subtle touch.

R2's jets are also going in the PT so they won't be added in the OT. I hate all the bloody EU explanations for everything which is why all that crap is staying out of Revisited.

REPLY -  At last!  I never did like their addition to R2 in the 'prequels', despite ANY of the 'official' suggestions given for their lack of inclusion in the 'Original Trilogy'.  I'm really pleased that R2 is going to remain grounded in these future edits.

The rotating room is an interesting idea but just wouldn't work. i've been looking over that scene again and the scale of things is all messed up. the cloud car is too big when it reaches the building. either that or the lift on the side of the building is for midgets only. maybe it was the ugnaught only lift. lol. it does need a new matte. i was thinking about shrinking the window a bit but leia needs to be the focal point of that shot so that may not work. plus the window needs to be higher up on the building because the interior ceiling is too low down. Is it worth all the extra work to try and sort out the continuity mess though? i'm not so sure at the moment.

REPLY -  Thanks for the update on this one.  As I recently described, even a little tweaking to the 'interior' detail of the 'apartment window', and the removal of the uppermost 'roof framework' would make a big difference to the existing continuity.  However, if you DO decide to go further, then that's even more than I could have hoped for.

(Oh and Sevb32, regarding your recent request for a 'flipped into reverse' clip of the 'city fly-through' to be put up - just get a mirror out to watch it in, I tells ya, and have those 'pause' / 'reverse' remote buttons at hand)

By the way, has anyone else had any problems with page 300 freezing up half-way through the 13th post down by Dangerous Incorporated?  I seem to remember this happened a while ago, but can't remember what caused it.  Anyway, It's still frozen at my end, and if anyone else can see the whole page, did I miss anything of interest?

I had the same problem catching up from 294, 300 was a freeze, thought I had the problem.....nice to see it wasn't me! hehe

I dunno Sevb32, it's not like most movies can have all these things corrected. Think of it, first it needs to have complex continuity errors, as with most movies it's a matter of "this shirt was in the scene before, not that short" or "the gun holster was on the other side" If you take any of the late movies all boil down to that, here I've seen Ady work not just on continuity errors but holes in the way things should work (ANH:R Death Star Reveal anyone?). I think Star Wars is one of the very few movie sagas that can have that luxury of lending itself for edits...IMO.
