Okay, here me out. I know, Adywan, you said that you will not be adding any Prequel music to ESB, and I agree that is the best way to go.
My suggestion is simple. There is an music track that was recorded for Empire back in 1980 that was edited out. The track would be played during the first part of Luke's fight with Darth Vader. What I am suggesting is to add atleast the first part of that track to that scene.

GEP, I believe Ady has decided not to use that score, but for what it's worth I second your request. I think the music fits there very well. There was some talk of including an alternative audio track for the DVD with all the several deleted audio cues reinstated, in addition to the isolated score track we were treated to on ANH:R, and I hope this does eventuate.
I see. Well, he still has time to decide. I think the first part of the score sounds like it is worthy of being included.

Ady, how certain are you that you don't want this music in the movie? :p Would it be a waste of time drumming up support? There's many more minor things that have had 20-page debates, so I hardly feel guilty...
Wow! You're the second person to say the entire dropped score works perfectly. I agree to that actually, since the themes of Obi-Wan and Yoda signify that Luke is using their training to fight Vader.

Not exactly sure what you mean by Ridley Scott lighting (lack of lighting? lol) but I think this is a great idea, add some sort of flickering light (or would that be too ghetto?) to give some realism (ex. in the hangar bays) when it's an obvious matte. There is a scene in ROTJ which I had in mind.
Like how in BLADE RUNNER or his earlier films where he used smoke so as to shine light through it to create nice beams of light coming into the room. A good example would be the Leon interrogation in the beginning of BR.
