I almost forgot, as far as the SE shot of the Falcon approaching the platform, and slowing down as it is about to land on it (in the shot immediately before the one above), I think the thing that made it seem somewhat 'flattened' at that point, was the possibility that we should actually be able to see a hint of some of the 'landing gear' legs sticking out underneath the side of the CGI Falcon, nearest to us, at some point within the last 3 seconds of the shot, just before it cuts to the above shot.

You'd need to study the footage carefully, and it would be quite subtle, but it now seems to me that this would go a long way to 'fattening-up' the look of the Falcon at this point, and matching the shot above, a lot better.

The true shape of the Falcon is slightly camouflaged by the new framing elements and uniform colour tint.

In the original 1980 version the ship's silhouette is not cluttered by the added buildings in the new version and the contrasting cylan/green tones have been largely over written with the intense orangey/peach tones that have been added to the 2004 version.

Bingowings, I take it you know that I am not referring to the shot you've shown, but to the 'flatness' that seems to come across in the previous shot, compared to this one.

If I remember correctly in the SE DVD the consistency of the millennium falcon when entering cloud city is off. The falcon is thinner in the the new CG shots and thicker in the old shots. I think this is most obvious when it lands on the platform.

Once the ship has docked it's back to it's usual thickness.

Something to look at AdY?

"yeh i always thought it looked a bit flat but having looked at it closer it seems the shadowing is off giving it the flat effect. Its the same CG model that is used in the previous shot when being pursued by Slave 1 and also used in ANH SE and it looks fine then. I'm not sure what i can do with it but something does need to be done."

^^ Thanks for getting back to me AdY...I know you have a million posts to sift through.

The most recent shots of cloud city you posted are looking awesome. As someone else mentioned your skills and talents have grown since AnH....I can only imagine how great RoTJ will turn out down the line at this rate.

I remembered that previous posts refered to the approach shot but I assumed that, seeing as the comments I replied to were illustrated with those shot comparision captures, it was the landing sequence that was under discussion at that point.

If anything the effects I described in the newer landing shot make the Falcon look fatter and shorter which might go some way to explain why in comparison it looks thinner and longer in the approach.

Bingowings, that's the trouble with not having an exact screenshot at hand, it's sometimes difficult to get something specific across without one.  I'd tried to say that I was talking about the shot of the Millennium Falcon that comes immediately before the shot of the Falcon that I actually used.

It's strange how the CGI Falcon shown in the flying approach shot seems a more 'thinner', 'flattened' version of the one in that 'Falcon with landing gear down' shot that I used, but as I say, I think it's a lot to do with the 'angles' where we 'look down' at the Falcon coming in to land in the previous shot, and that we should have seen a little of the 'landing gear' on that shot too, in the last moments, before it cuts to the shot I used.

Can you guys imagine being one of the majority of Star Wars fans out there that have no clue about these Revisited edits? That would be so sad, especially after seeing all of this amazing new stuff! Those Empire menus are pretty sweet. Ady, you rock man!

I'm surprised that the news of this hasn't got out. This is the biggest breakthrough in fan-editing since "The Phantom Edit". That was widely covered, I don't see why Revisited hasn't been picked up by major news outlets.

i wouldn't be surprised if george lucas already knew of this. i'm sure as the creator of star wars he keeps tabs on this stuff. he prolly doesn't care as long as the same story is being told. but if word got out, adywan may get in trouble and those who've downloaded any revisited versions of the films.

That's just unwarranted fear mongering.

You don't scare me with your sorceror's ways....

He might be interested in what other wonders Ady can show his team eventually....  ;)

^In a way, yes. But then, it could just encourage him to play with them again and do more questionable things. Then it would be another complete overhaul for the fan editors because LFL never gets it right. (even though we know they can)

I would love to see Adywan post a clip of this scene, from the fly thru the city to until they leave the falcon and approach Lando. Even if it is an unfinished version.

i probably won't be posting any more clips for a while. If i post too many then there will be no surprises left for the finished version. I will be putting together a new longer trailer that will be released on the same day as ESB's original release date in may whcih will feature a lot of new footage.

Sounds good to me.  Don't need to spoil all the surprises before the release.  And a new trailer should be sufficient indeed.

Since there are a number of clips already out for ESB:R I was wondering if anyone knows of a site where they could be downloaded with no expiration timeframe. I was hoping we could have a database of all the video's uploaded by ady thusfar and future ones as well. I know youtube is a great tool but the quality is lacking compared to a direct download. Let me know if anyone had any ideas.

I'm looking at three sites: Filefront, Steek and Wuala.

Does anyone have any experience with these sites?

You couldn't be more wrong. Hayden can't act to save his life. Does he even know what method acting is? I doubt it.

The stiff has one look on his face for every emotion....is his character mad? Que the "Hayden Stare". Is his character happy? Que the "Hayden Stare".

I've seen no name off brodway actors with way more talent than Mr. Woodie.

You want to know the mark of a good actor? No matter how crappy the script, a good actor can pull it off, Hayden can't.

As much as I don't like his acting in the prequels, see "My life as a house". He actually does a great job as a teenager in that movie. Which is exactly why he shouldn't have been cast in the prequels- he's a good actor in certain roles, which nobody seems to have figured out, so they keep putting him in bad ones.

As for acting vs dialogue, take a look at Natalie Portman- she's a great actor, but can you tell from the prequels? No. Liam Neeson did a good job with what he had, as did Ewan McGregor, but when you have dialogue as horrendous as those in the love scenes, it's hard to do anything good with them. Even so, Hayden shouldn't have been Anakin.
