Mock-Up Time!

I must confess the chap on the bottom looks more frightening to me and I got a second opinion from the better half too.

The dark eyes and mouth against the white fur looks more like a skull.

But, it's only by making mock ups like this that we can be sure of these things.

I'd be happy to keep a few flashes of SE Wampa but the armless shot looked very silly.

Going a bit off topic here but i was watching ROTJ in HD tonight and i had always though that the Coruscant footage was people celebrating and pulling down the statue. i always though where the hell are the imperials and that the celebrations were too soon. But i was wrong. Upon closer inspection the crowd at the front aren't celebrating at all but are in fact a mob crowd attacking a stormtrooper. Ben Burtt totally screwed up the sound FX on this one. Should have been the sound of an angry mob and not a celebration.

The bottom is the unaltered SE Wampa. The Top is the SE Wampa modified with the face of the Wampa in the first shot where Luke and his tauntaun get knocked out.

I know about that trooper being grabbed for 10 years, I just thought they were mobbing him and some were celebrating. Love the Emperor statue falling, Saddam Hussein's was toppled long before the war was even close to over.

There is some real potential for a sequel series to ROTJ here. The Stormtroopers (assuming they are still Clones) were created by the senate to protect the Republic. They were genetically programmed to obey orders without question so can they be held responsible for what they did during the Imperial period?  To maintain the Empire there must have been millions of them so what happens to them after the civil war (will the New Republic start it's new age by building concentration camps for the genetically modified and brain washed consequences of the Old Republic's assisted suicide?) How does the New Republic deal with the possiblity of someone else building a Death Star now that the technology has been proved to work? Does it build it's own?

Love the idea of redubbing the scene as a riot BTW.

I don't think most of the troopers are clones at that point. They don't have the accents plus they are different heights. Maybe the cloning facility became to expensive for the Empire or the sadistic Palpatine just felt like supplying his army with some fresh blood.

New clone DNA i'd say along with recruits. And if you notice in ANH there are a bunch of Stormtroopers in varying heights so I get the impression they were having a pretty good recruitment rate at that point. The ones that ran away from Han must've been noob recruits. But the Rebellion's victory must've brought down recruitment rates to an all time low. In ESB and ROTJ the troops are all the same height. Maybe they had to go back to nearly all clones.

Or the Emperor was paranoid of spies after the victory (not that a lowly trooper would have much access to information).

Why couldn't it have been the Female Wampa that knocked Luke off the Tan-tan, while the Male Wampa is the one we see in the SE. I always liked the SE Wampa since we see it sloppily eating something, with fleshy bits hanging from its jaws. Some species of animlas work it out so that the Female hunts for the Male, or vice-versa.

the clones only had a lifespan of twenty to thirty years due to the genetic engineering. the empire used the majority of the leftover clones to train other recruits at the various imperial acadamies because of their combat expierence.

the stormtroopers lack that, and obviously not very smart.

As you can see it would be impossible to remove that shot of Han without causing a major problem.

I think a lot of radio hosts do that, not just Bob and Tom. I mean, if they don't laugh, it's just kinda dead air. And most suck up to the host anyway. :p

No, you don't understand.  For the most part, when they laugh, it's fairly natural and you're pretty much laughing with them (because whatever they're laughing at is usually pretty damn funny), BUUUT there are those special moments when a comic says something that's eh, kinda funny, and Bob or Tom LAUGH... BADLY.  I mean that fake, forced laughter that some suck-up does that is so obvious you want to bitch-slap them like Terrance and Phillip did to animated Brooke Shields.

That is how SE Wampa looked after getting his arm sliced.

And I'm in Louisville (you know, the city that gets nuked at the end of RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD)

And Ady?  I would just keep the original JEDI ending strickly on Endor.  Regardless of how long it would take for word to get out, it just felt like extra FX being shoved in with a convenient universe sized night-club party.  While the "nub-nub" song nubs on my soul, after watching the SEs it's one of those things where you realize the original way was still better (read: less convoluted and more straight-forward).  You know, like after watching the Sci-Fi DUNE mini-series, it just made me appreciate the David Lynch DUNE that much more.

Then again, you could always have Carrie Fisher's Life Day song play over the end credits.

Is there an explanation for reverting to the original Boba Fett voice?

Don't get me wrong, I love the original voice, I just want to know how you explain it to fit in with the continuity of the PT.

already been over this:

so please forget it already!

I was not vouching for the redubbed voice, only inquiring as to the explanation for the reversion, which I now understand and accept.

Well, according to all visual and audio evidence they ARE celebrating.  The stormtrooper is obviously happy that he doesn't have to take orders from the Empire and is crowdsurfing in celebration.

I hope you can feel my sarcasm from there in England.

Apparently everyone else on this board can feel it much easier since it seems that my southern Indiana position puts them in prime range of my sarcasm bomb.

So, I've been keeping an archive of all of the ESBR previews on my thumb drive, but I started keeping them too late to have the original teaser or the date of release for the revised version with the new Emperor.  Can anyone help with finding the original teaser, when it was released, and when the revised version was?

Thanks.

Adding red windows to the AT-Ats would mean that i would have to tint the insides red and fake lighting looks just that.. fake, and i am not prepared to do that, especially when it doesn't need to be done.

One thing you have to remember is that i am not a miracle worker. I can only work with what footage i have available.

This is a couple of days behind, but I just checked in to find you've given us all another clip ontop of the excellent 'Luke approaching Dagobah' one!

Adywan - I am one of those who really liked that red-lit, leading AT-AT, as it initially came over the rise, as I always reckoned that it gave it a menacing look....  I always used to wish that all the window 'slits' on every AT-AT shown in the battle had been given the same red-lit treatment (including the one that delivers Luke to Vader in 'JEDI').

Anyway, I just wanted to say that from what I've seen in your latest 1 min. clip of the Hoth ground battle....that losing the red-slit look in that shot is a very small price to pay for all your added AT-ATs, snowspeeders, lasers etc., and general extra oomph to the overall battle, which is looking fabulous!  :)

Oh, and you are wrong....you ARE  a miracle worker on this thing.
