I thoroughly enjoyed the interview and I can really associate with a lot of what you said especially about trying to think of a solution to a problem and then one night you are lying in bed and it just pops in your head. That has happened to me on a number of occasions. It does take a lot of thought even subconscious thought for ideas to show them selves. Anyway I think you did a grand job in the interview.
On another note I wanted to let you in as a team on a question that I am currently pondering it may be useful in terms of perception or perhaps not.
In this shot are the troopers running in from an open Hanger door in to the base? I have been pondering the film makers intentions and the direction and the fact they are not with the group of stormtroopers with Vader coming from the command center suggests that they could be running through a open Hanger bay door but they could of course be coming from anywhere within the network of tunnels within the base but the only entrance that we observe is the other side of the falcon when Han says he is leaving to Rieekan and has an argument with Leia in the command center or to the right with 3PO and R2 complaining about Leias wet clothes. So that is why I think they might be running in from open Hanger bay doors. But It's one of those how do we interpret the ambiguity of the footage type of scenes.
I won't expect an answer of what you think but I reckon it might be something you have thought about perhaps but if not, I'm not sure either but a bit intriguing all the same. It may be something that really does not matter but a struggle of how to interpret what is actually happening on screen at this time.
The entrance that Han & co go through to get to the Falcon because Han pulls C3PO through just before it closes suggests he was locking it shut so they could not be followed this way even though 3PO was dithering.

Hi Jason! Thanks for making the interview happen -- it was great to have a nice long, current, in-depth conversation about the epic that Revisited has become.
It made me want to do something similar with Ady to talk about the details of his editing/compositing techniques, for all the editors/artists out there. Maybe some day, if he's up for it!
I wish you had asked a very important question, though: is it ADD-ee-wan or AID-ee-wan?
We did off air,.. it's AID-ee-wan but I think I fell back to calling him ADD-ee-wan at some point in the podcast because I had been calling him that for years! Anyway,... He promised he'll come on again when ESB:R is done! He is a great guy to talk to, we had a blast!
Sojourn, I reckon it's meant to be AID-ee-wan, considering his name is Adrian...but he'll always be ADD-ee-wan to me.
Edit: Jango beat me to it.

Yep. Always been ADD-ee-wan in my head. Sounded weird in the interview so it stays ADD-ee-wan...in my head. :D

Ronster,
I'm aware you enjoy over thinking and on occasion, over complicating this kind of things and I've come to terms with that. Everyone enjoys SW in different ways and there is no wrong way to enjoy them imo.
To me, in these scenes a ground assault happens and everything goes to shit for the rebels. They have to run. New, cool-looking snowtroopers arrive with what appears to be very destructive arsenal to keep the Falcon from escaping. They fail, movie moves on to the next sequence. The end.
I'm positive it's not what you may want to hear but personally I never thought of where they came from, I don't care really. Haven't seen ESB in years but if I remember correctly, didn't they enter the hangar behind Vader? How did Vader got to the hangar? It doesn't matter and I don't need to see how he got there. He is there and that's what matters, at least to me. The other troopers you refer to, no idea where exactly they came from but they are surrounding the falcon, that's all the info I need at that point. I may oversimplify things or just immerse myself in the story w/o pondering inconsequential (again, to me) stuff that imo doesn't add to the tension of a particular scene. Not watching ESB to confirm since I want to see the Revisited version with as much of a fresh mind as possible so someone else would need to address where the came from. :)
hm, I always call him "A(y)-Dee-Wan" ;-)
well for the Snow-Troops, there are cut scenes, where they enter through side-tunnels or the ones the Wampas broke into the base (hence making the scene with C3PO afterwards, where he rips the warning-sign), if I am correct.
But the main conception is, they enter mostly through the seen doors (not saying other openings could exist).
As fot that, we never see Vader land with his "dropship", but it isn't needed because it would slow down the pace of the battle/evacuation :-)
@Marty Mcfly
Remind me not to post after a 15 hour day without looking properly at stuff.
I agree with you somewhat Marty but this section is a bit of a mess. i think they run from inside but because the footage of the snowtroopers going through the same passages as Han & co got removed it ends up being a bit disjointed. Although you think i want to overcomplicate something actually in fact i want it to be much simpler to understand and much more intelligeable = more enjoyable.
I really don't think we need to see 3po ripping off a sticker or wampa pulling in a snowtrooper but it is a shame that snow troopers running through the same part the hereos go through would have joined the sequence up much more. It is actually quite poorly edited and could have been better.
And sorry for mistake that door is not locked Han pulls 3PO through I totally forgot there was a deleted scene that actually helps explain it.
Yeah, I agree that if you don't see everything that happens everywhere and actually have to infer anything with reasonable intelligence that it must be a mess and poorly edited. ;)
No need for sarcasm. i looked at the script on this also. The hanger doors are meant to open when the snow troopers with heavy gun get shot. In fact they were meant to be in between the falcon and the way out of the hanger. the door was meant to be behind them opening as they get shot.
So also for some reason the angle and position of the intended shot changed for some reason.
This is also a shame that it was not like this. did the door break or something? Or are we seeing an alternate angle I wonder.
There's always a need for sarcasm.
The editing in ESB is pretty much perfect. The troopers AREN'T approaching from the same entrance Han and co appear. If you check the whole sequence again you will see that the snowtroopers come in from the left on the hangar ( where the snowspeeders were originally parked), whereas Han & co come in from the right ( where the x-wings were originally parked). How can you tell this? Well look at the position of the falcon in the wide shot where Han & co are running towards the Falcon. The Falcon isn't angled straight on . But, when the troops appear, as in the photo above, then it appears to be at 90 degrees to the troopers. So, from that, we can determine that they are coming in from an entrance to the left and that is where they set up the gun
Will there be a version that keeps the new Fett voice? I personally prefer it to the original voice, which sounds too old for Boba(he's supposed to be in his early 30's by the time of ESB) and doesn't match up with his fathers voice or any of the clones from the prequels/TCW CGI series.

He's in his early 30's according to what? The Prequels? I'm afraid they're getting quite a drastic change. I doubt child boba will even be in the PT:R, personally.
As for the voice not matching a kids' show which has different voices anyway, it's a non issue.
Boba won't be a clone and it will be established that the Fett helmets have voice modulators built in.
As for ESBR, Boba will have the original theatrical voice.

Besides the notion that voices are 'genetic' is bonkers.

I mean, there's a certain about of something here. How often are older children mistaken for their parents on the phone? Maybe it's nature, maybe it's nuture, but it's real.
Temuera totally phone his performance in. It has no menace in it whatsoever. Revealing Boba in AOTC was also one of the bigger failures of the PT in terms of how it affects/changes the OT. One can pretty safely assume that a lot of this is going to be altered in Revisited.
