Tangental to that point, I wonder if the DVD prequel deleted scenes were ever completed in HD (some were never truly completed).

It was a bit suspect they weren't on the blu-rays, they have been used a lot in fan edits.

I guess Lucas sees the OT deleted scenes the same way he sees the OUT (not worth the effort).

I also doubt if he has much in the way of sources to mount a proper restoration of the deleted material (some of which the company denied existed, probably because they could be bothered to look).

Is it possible for someone to restore the original Prequel Deleted Scenes? Or at least make them appear to be in better quality?

Is it possible to take this to a thread about the prequels or deleted scenes, please? :)

Very nice work, Ady. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished shots in which it'll appear.

When we get the actual, uh, set. When we get the piece, it'll follow exactly these specifications. I mean even these contours and everything?

Something I've been searching high and low for, but can't seem to find any info on it, what websites will the edit be submitted to? Rapidshare? Hotfile? I ask because I'm planning on signing up as a paid member to some sort of downloading site, but I'd like it to be whatever Revisited is going to be submitted to. Perhaps doubleofive or anyone else in the know could help me out?

Initially I thought it was an April fools over on facebook but has Ady actually had his hard-drive crash? Or is it an April fools?

Link; http://www.facebook.com/swrevisited - Latest update

Ady if you are reading, (and I do realise you are highly proficient on computers)  part of my job is as aIT technician for a charity and have had to recover hard-drives before. Often, I've found you can recover everything from a failed drive (regardless of cause)...

There are a couple of options;

Firstly, which is the easiest and cheapest, is to download a USB linux installation and create a linux install USB, which you can run from the Bios and it will run off the USB. DO NOT INSTALL - but see if you can access the the problem hard-drive from the Ubuntu flash disk and move files onto say an external hard-disk. Link here; http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

If that does not work or, it can't do what you want to there are a couple of other options;

If you have another windows computer you can install the failed hard drive to, as a secondary drive to that. (You can also purchase multiple plug and plag hard-drive readers - I have a high performance lap-top I use when fixing hard-drives, which means I need the USB hard-drive reader). Here would be an example of one after a quick google; http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/NewerTech/Voyager/Hard_Drive_Dock

There are various hard-drive restore programmes you can use from here which range from free to paid for varieties. Here is a good example of a freeware program that I have found to be good;

http://www.pcinspector.de/default.htm?language=1

It has a couple of options, you will I suspect either need "find lost drive" or "recover lost data". There are paid for variations but in all honesty I've never needed them.

http://www.techsupportalert.com/ - Also has lists of freeware you may find useful, it reviews the different products in an area.

Related Drive Recovery and file undelete;

http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-data-recovery-file-undelete-utility.htm

Strangely if all else fails, I have managed to get two hard-drives that I could not do anything with to be recoverable after I put them in the freezer.

Hope that helps, if you have any further questions please let me know.

Hopefully and that was my initial reaction but it's well past 12pm now in the UK (the cut off point for April Fool's jokes).

It's so close to completion and suddenly there is a hardware problem?

We all know what's going on here.

He just wants more money for his real 'problems'.

Why should we pay to wash the biscuit crumbs out of his hair?

April 1st is always a scary time where adywan's involved... ;)

The 'Hoth Shield Generator' miniature turned out great by the way.  The weathering is a nice touch.

Update from Ady on Facebook:

It's now 12:02 am 2nd april here now and i can now tell you all.................It isn't a joke. this has really happened. I'm going to go out and get a new 3TB drive tomorrow and i will try all the suggestions to try and get this other drive at least working enough to recover the data from it. The drive is still under guarantee but i will lose all my data if i send it back, so i want to exhaust all options first.

In that case

I cannot fault Jonathan7's advice.

I'd also consider having a linux partition and multiple back up drives.

I've been in a position where a mac partition was on the fritz but I could restore it and access the data on it because the linux partition remained intact.

I've also lost the main drive and the back up before but the back up to the back up was untouched.

It's horrifying when this sort of thing happens and it happens very frequently to fan editors by the sound of things.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this is just an extension of the gag...

^We can only hope.  The x0 project once claimed it was canceled and continued the charade for a whole month.  Oh, wait a second...

That said Ady, if you are serious, my condolences.  I can only imagine how strenuous this setback is for you.

My god I hope so, but if it's not, then we'll just have to wait the extra year. It'll be worth it. Hopefully some of the hard drive recovery tips will help. In addition, there are places you can send it to try to get it recovered.
