The EU is fascinating at filling in gaps. What stories do you the boardmembers like best and give concrete background to the films in a tight way. I know Zahn's books are very popular, but if you could list ones you have read (books and comics), listened to, seen, played (that give story like in the case of KOTOR I and II). I am still thinking of reading more, adding more to my edits, and basically love star wars and want to further my knowledge without wasting my time. I am going to the Con Carolinas this weekend in Charlotte and will probably pick up some things. I'd love to get rips of some of the stuff from the video games movie footage and cut scenes like the movies games and the KOTORs, never heard of anyone having that on disc but it'd be cool. Thanks.

Yup. You live in area? I live just outside of charlotte. The star wars fanworks fan audio show and Greg Keyes, Author of the New Jedi order novels will be there. Again I haven't heard or read either. So I am searching for feedback of what to pursue.

Oh and the 501st stormtrooper outfit will be there. So Star Wars will have some representation there.

I used to live in Gastonia, but where I am living now(on the coast) it still isn't a long trip but it'd be too short notice.

Anyway, regarding your question, there aren't really that many good EU materials that tie directly into the movies, or at least any that you could pull and paste into your edit.

Its not necessarily EU, but the Radio Dramas are a great thing to listen to and to have.

You can be like me and buy the Limited Edition Boxset for around 100 bucks, or you could buy the cheaper one for around 60 or save your cash and download a torrent.

Tales From Jabba's Palace and the Bounty Hunter Wars are two great publications that really fill some gaps in the OT quite nicely.....Boba Fett and his Sarlaac adventure, meeting Dengar, Bossk, and some of the other hunters...........nice to read about some of the "how's" and "why's" about characters you only see briefly.

And while I am at it, Shadows Of The Empire, is a nice fill in too....... Peace!!!!

Cool I just found out at the Con they'll have fan films shows such as "sins of the jedi" "star wars revelations" "beyond star wars" & several discussion panels. I am interested in that New Jedi Order and look forward to getting some autographed copies from mr. Keyes.

I have not listened to the radio dramas or shadows of the empire.

I'll look into Tales from Jabba's Palace, Bounty Hunter Wars, and the Sarlaac Adventure (with the beak? )

I played through the Ep. III video game and there is a lot of pictures, cut scenes and stuff not in the movie in there. Sky Troopers with winged packs, Trooper Assissins (that can do matrix-like movement) and have blades on their elbows. There is a scene where Anakin impales the bitchy jedi librarian in the game (cool) oh and a turnabout scene where Anakin flips over Obi-Wan, impales him and kicks him down to the river of fire (styx?), he then has the emperor tell him "it is done, they will now rule the galaxy together", vade impales him and says he will rule the galaxy alone. Interesting. "Fliiping the script as they say".

I had a blast at Con Carolinas. The guys at Star Wars Fan Works audio were there as well as the people that do Requiem of the Outcast show (ROTO). I saw "saving Star Wars", "Revelations "sins of the Jedi" and "the fall of a saga" Shaun O'rouke who did/starred in Sins of the jedi was there. Many cast/crewmembers of those films were there. I talked to all of them, as well Greg Keyes, the author of a number of NJO books. There was a cool panel on the final verdict of the PT. Basically lots of Star Wars going on, very cool. Everyone was so accessible. I got lots of filmaking/audio advice from those guys. Of course I told them all about OT.com

Well there's 2 from ROTO audio show - Ron and Janine Garner, A guy from Star Wars FanWorks audio recording, and 2 "educated" scholar of philospy and religion. The 3 audio people were all on the same boat with most here. Frustrated with Jar-Jar, the slapstick, and Roger-Rabbit feel of episode 1. Most thought the story arch was a good one. All loved the original, so it was question of the new ones. The scholoar were hardcore, blinded GL loyalists saying all he does is brilliant, ahead of the curve, and talking of joseph Campell and shakesperian tradgedy, etc. Most in there (the audience talked too) were still very angry at episode 1, except those 2 scholars. We all felt Ep. III was an improvement. But Ron mentioned the editing being jolting, like the scene were yoda get laser blasts and the jolted editing is throughout the film. We found it hard to believe Padme would die of a broken heart, having kids is enough a reason to live. The scholar said its tradgedy. We mentioned that some of the stuff in deleted scenes was great why? The scholars said time is important. True, but GL says with each deleted scene on DVD 1&2 that each scene was great and advnaced character or plot, so much of whats in does not. Delete other stuff it thats the case. LOTR ran 4hrs. If its good the audience will deal...It's star wars. If not release an extended edition for the fans, and make money for yourself. EVERYONE IN THE ROOM HATED JAR JAR! The girl said she hated that leia in ROTJ and padme in ROTS became weak, either a slave to Jabba or a slave to her room in coruscant. After being the warrior princess or something noble they both fade away and become minor. That was valid I thought. Overall people like that they're there but frustrated with all the details that don't add up and slap them in the face. We all agreed it not that were just picking it apart, because we wouldnt edit LOTR and this is more a matter of the 3rd Matrix that fell short. But after hearing a line in Saving Star Wars, I think its on the money. Star Wars is like pizza. When it is good it is good, when its bad its still pizza. I am glad they're out. I am going next weekend to Greenville, SC to see it for the third time, but the first on a digital projector. Thy're great...they could be better. But then again that's what edits are for.
