Exactly, risk free and boring, and ultimately a simulation - fun, yes, but rather pointless. I just had a thought - according to Einstein if you could travel faster than the speed of light then you could travel back in time.... so maybe .5 past lightspeed is enough to have the falcon and a time machine.... But Deloreans are cool.

i'd get the time machine, and use it to go 700 years into the future and get a holo deck machine
then i would use it to go 2000 years into the future where i could find a ship that was good enough to cross the galactic threshold, and i would go find the SW galaxy, then i would go and find han solo and take the falcon

I'd like to have a DeLorean and go back in time, and make money by catching onto trends early. IE, printing good comics without the comics code authority seal and the stupid restrictions that caused. Or inventing digital watches.

I dont think thats right...cause a) it assumes that no one would come up with the idea if this site wasnt here. But also, since your doing something that changes the flow of history it would possibly just make it so when you return no one knows about the special editions except you cause they never existed.
Thats actually where it gets confusing. Think of Back to the Future. Marty made changes, but he is still the Marty from the pre-change time period. so he really caused a branch. But the changes he made almost affected him while in the past (if his parents hadnt gotten together) so wouldnt then all the memories he had from growing up of changed as well (since those events changed), causing him to not be confused when he went back to his parents and saw that things were 'different'.
or maybe time travel is possible, and someone did go back to stop the prequals (its not necessary to kill him, plus its an inappropriate comment) but then since there were no SE's it changed the events so that they never went back in time, thus they never went back in time to stopped the SE's because they werent there to stop.
but back to the BttF, you could go by what Doc says in 2. If im not mistaken he says something about the changes actually causing branches and its a 'different 1985'

Thats the thing with time travel. It's all good untill you start thinking about it, then it gets all confusing
Anyway, if I had a time machine I'd go back to 77-85 and buy all the SW stuff I could find. Then go to the future, buy a Lottery ticket with a rollover jackpot, then come back and live happy ever after.
I have this very good idea what I'd also do if I had a time machine, but haven't got time to type it now. But it's something I used to go on about years ago with my mates, when we used to get very stoned in my car....Ahhh the good ol' days
