I know this is completely off topic but.....

Please could you upload your edit of Titanic that you did? I stupidly burnt it to bad media and now it wont play and i can't retrieve it. Pretty please. I'd be willing to make a small donation of some kind for your trouble if you could???

If I can manage to slurp the AVI off ABSW, I'll see what I can do about a torrent...this all depends on how reliable my usenet feed is for binaries, as I've never used it for that...

I actually replied to you both times you PM'd me about this. Are your PM's turned on? i don't have a copy of the edit any more. I used Riktek media to burn the copy and it has now degraded and unless someone has a copy of this then that edit is lost forever. That is why i only use Taiyo Yuden media now. Ritek was always one of the best media to use but when they changed the dye it is unbelievably bad and i didn't know about this issue until it was too late. hell of a lot of my stuff that was backed up using RITEK is now unreadable.

Just finishing off the last few tweaks needed to the audio, the xvid is ready to have the audio track applied and should start going up in a.b.starwars in about 3 hours followed by the DVD-5 versions starting in a couple of days

Just checking the XVID now. So far everything looks to be ok. You should see it starting to appear in the next hour or so. Just got to create the sample and the nfo and rar the files up and it's good to go. Its approx 1.8gb NTSC,with 5.1 AC3 . Any smaller and i just wasn't happy with the quality. plays fine on my PS3 & Sony DVD player.

Great news Ady! I've just spent half an hour setting up a usenet download program so I can get this! Seems to be working now - I managed to download a couple of pics of tennis players anyway!!!

I'll torrent as soon as I have the whole thing

I'm using a program called Binary Boy, but you will need to have access to a usenet server. If your ISP doesnt provide you with this then you'll have to either pay for one or sign up for a free trial

Do what I did - google 'usenet' and try to figure it out - there's lots of info out there

And it sounds like someone will create a torrent once they get the download from the binaries, if you don't have access to UseNet (like myself).

Tomorrow is going to be a long but good day, waiting for this . . .

Congrats, Ady! Can't wait to jump on usenet tomorrow and download the fruits of your laborious-type laborings.

Edit : To the other usenet newbies: you'll need to familiarize yourselves with news servers, browsers, and the like.

You might try www.news.astraweb.com as your news server, a pay service with good server retention (e.g., the length of time posts are retained) or your internet provider (mine is Comcast, but their retention seems to be really bad). For a browser, I'm using "GrabIt!" which seems to be working pretty well. It will take some time coming up to speed on the subject, but it's cool when it works!

A good resource for terminology: TechSono

Rebel Scum helped me out in coming up to speed on the newsgroup thing here.

It is probably way too late now but an interesting side now...

it would seem the animatic version of Family Guy - Blue Harvest, has a lot of the raw SFX for ANH... including that siren onboard the Tantive IV which I always thought was cool heh
