Should Stanley Tookie Williams have been executed? — Page 2

On the CKY band website, one of the members was joking around and said something along the lines of:

in my opinion, if you kill somebody - you should get killed back. and it should be a really humiliating death too. like drowning a serial killer in a giant bucket of piss (and have it on pay per view too) i think the number of murders per year would drastically decrease if the penalty was drowning in piss on digital cable. dont you?

I about busted a gut from laughing so hard when I read that.

What if instead of being executed, the person was made to work as a slave for the rest of their lives in jobs people don't want, like finding explosive mines. OK forget the exploding mines bit, was a joke, but seriously, why waste that person? Put him to work with NO pay into some serious manual labor. At least he will be useful and very cheap.

Yes, but then your bleeding-heart, prisoners' rights advocates will claim that you're dehumanizing him. *rolls eyes*

Well, come on, you were going to kill that man! Now, there are only 2 reasons to kill someone for a crime:

* Because he is a total menace to society and should be totally excluded from it.

* So it will scare people thinking of doing such crimes.

If you make him work as a slave as opposed to KILLING him, that will make both points valid. Besides, any human rights advocate should belive that killing is worse than being put to work. Also, don't they know that there are still slave labor over the world?
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I can't believe I missed this point when I first read your post ric.

Jesse Jackson would sue the state of California if they even considered the idea of enslavement, especially if it was black Stanley 'Tookie' Williams.

I guess it didn't get as much media coverage, but here in Mississippi, we just had our first execution in three years last night. Seventy-seven year old John B. Nixon is the oldest person to be executed since the death penalty was reinstated. He was convicted of a murder by hire in 1985.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
