This is nitpicking. How many people look at the crawl, and notice that? You are supposed to be paying attention to the words not the stupid allignment.

This is nitpicking?!? Dude, have you seen the fix list on the first page of this thread? I mean honestly, if one's weighing valid fixes vs. nitpicking, this one hardly seems like the tipping point.
It certainly isn't any more nitpicky than fixing the speed of the receding "STAR WARS" at the beginning, which has already been done. Of course, if adywan doesn't do anything to the crawl I doubt it will ruin the movie for anyone. But with all the other stuff that's being tinkered with, why not fix that as well?
It's like looking at an optical illusion. I'm getting a headache just trying to figure out - are the words crooked or is it the lines??? This "problem" is beyond me. I'm starting to feel dizzy.

I can assure you the lines are perfectly straight, but feel free to check 'em out in whatever graphics app you happen to have handy. A quick swipe of the rectangular selection tool should do nicely.
Well, I don't doubt they're crooked. I mean, the quality of Lucas' work as of late has been nothing if questionable. I'm sure Ady' will have a response to this, though he is very close to being done with the edit - wonder if it's at a point of no return....

This is the difference. I can see the Star Wars logo flying away unnaturally fast compared to the other films. That allignment problem or whatever it is is not something I noticed until you drew those red lines, and is something I don't notice when I watch the film. Adywan has improved and fixed things he notices and we notice when we watch the film. This is something most people only notice when they pause the film, and draw red lines across the words. Adywan's goal was to fix and improve many things. All the other stuff adywan has done improves something within its context. When he adds a stormtrooper it is to make for a more complex background, or when he enhances a shot it is to add more complkexity or smooth a jump out or fix a continuity error. If he fixes the alignment or whatever the problem is does it in anyway improve what the crawl is saying? It doesn't becaue the crawl's alignment is not effecting the message it is trying to convey. This is not teh same as a continuity error that pulls me out of the film, or a jump cut or a bland background. This is just a crawl.
Also, most of the stuff that adywan has fixed is stuff that now that I know it is there I notice it everytime I watch the film. This crawl thing is somethign that even though you have mentioned it, I want notice it when I watch the film.
adywan, if you want to fix it then go ahead. I am not mad that people want it fixed. I am just amazed that some people notice stuff like this. It is no wonder some can not enjoy the films when they worry about stuff like that.
My oppinion on this matter could be do to the fact that I skip the crawls most of the time. I know what they say so I don't need to watch them again. There whole purpose is to give a little back story. I don't need to watch them again, because I already know what they say. And some might say that new fans need to watch them, well, of course they do, but if someone that has never seen the films watches them then they are going to be focusing on the what is being said not the allignment.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the crawl was always like that. I don't think that's an SE issue, I think it has to do with how he crawl was originally filmed.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion, Marvolo, and if you don't notice the misalignment in the crawl then I'm happy for you. However, please realize that just because you don't notice a problem, it doesn't mean that it's not worth looking at. There are many fans, myself included, who have noticed that misalignment for awhile and think that it is something perhaps worth changing. To be honest, I'm surprised you even ventured an opinion on the issue, considering you just acknowledged that you skip over the crawl when watching the movie anyway.

Also, please don't assume that just because someone notices an "error" with the film that it translates into them not enjoying it. I myself have noticed innumerable special effect shortcomings in Star Wars over the years, but that doesn't alter the fact that I love the original movie. If such things ruin your enjoyment of the film, then I'm sorry to hear that, but don't presume your problems are ours as well.
In all, I think that Adywan's edit has focussed heavily on "fixing" all those little things that we as fans have noticed for years and desired to have changed. That being the case, I see no reason why the opening crawl can't be discussed as well; it's a noticeable "error" in the film (which, as Erikstormtrooper pointed out, I believe has been there since the original ANH), and as such is as worthy of being addressed as any other issue discussed in the thread thus far.
Well the i had noticed the problem with the crawl but at first i wasn't going to bother with it, but after seeing such a strong reaction to this matter i decided to go back and correct this issue.
Maybe I'm being picky here, but that yellow text is a little TOO bright for my tastes. And the stars, are a bit too bright and stand out. Forgive me if I'm being a bit too picky.

It is called "Star" Wars... to my eyes the new crawl color and star field look great... although shouldn't the crawl span the entire screen left to right when coming form the bottom of the frame? ...different strokes for different folks I guess.

Well, I guess now you know there will be great appreciation for such an adjustment. I wasn't sure if you were planning to alter it yet or at all, I was just trying to make a point, Thanks a lot for doing that.

<Princess Leia>What!?</Princess Leia> Will you eventually skip the whole film when you know it off by heart?
Adywan, if you don't want to recreate the whole crawl (it requires a lot more than picking the right shade of yellow to look right) I've made an Avisynth plugin that stretches out the bottom left corner of the existing video, slowly enough that you can't tell at normal speed.
I think the stars look really good, but I have to agree about the bright yellow. That could come down a bit. And yeah, I hate to say it, but I think the text needs to extend just off the sides of the screen as it scrolls into view.
I actually dig the new robust colors and star field - They feel fresh and very much in-line with Adywan's Revisited philosophy - not just edits and effects improvements - but shot-by-shot color restoration. Ady' - I think the new crawl looks very appropriate. Keep up the amazing work and thanks again for everything you have done to accomodate the observations of so many. You deserve a medal...and I'm sure with your skills you can digitally give yourself one.
Oh, and everyone make sure your monitors and screens are properly adjusted. I'd hate to see us all debating color issues and we're all looking at different saturation levels.

Thanks for the offer DE. The crawl is actually complete now. The yellow does look somewhat different in the pic i posted than it does when watched on the monitor or my TV so that's really weird. But it could be an optical illusion. If you look at the "A New Hope" title it looks a paler yellow so it could be that adding the red guide lines has changed the appearance of the colour slightly. i chose a yellow that i think looks the best as if you notice throughout the saga it changes colour throughout most of them. This will be my little signature on the saga as they will now all be the same shade. It's actually the same colour as it was in the clip of the opening sequences a while back and no one complained about it back then or the intensity of the stars so it will be staying as it is now. Its actually the same width as it is on the original
As you can see it is the same width. Also this shows that there isn't a great difference in colour from the original 2004 DVd colour except it isn't as washed out. Definitely must be the red lines that's throwing the colour out in the last pic because both pics are from the same still capture..
i now have to close the suggestion box for this release. Its getting very close to completion and i know which shots i have left to finish and what i want to do with them so i will not be changing anything else at this late stage.

Dang... I was just about to ask if you could add the skyhopper race between Luke and Fixer

Alright, Ady! After busting your arse for 15 months you're in the home stretch. Only one more month to go. Keep up the good work.

No kidding... I think Adywan should recieve a medal for being the most patient man alive. I probably would've snapped a few months ago in his place after all the critiquing.
