STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION — Page 430

In terms of visual continuity of movement, during the battle, the Death Star is on the left and the base on the right. So the fighters should be moving from right to left, as they do in that shot and all the others in the sequence.

I do actually like the idea of comping the SE X-wings onto the theatrical background plate of the takeoff shot.

I wonder if anyone has noticed this.

During the scene in the MF while escaping Tatooine from the Empire, Chewie isn’t wearing anything and Han is wearing his pilots gloves.

Then in the next shot of the MF going into hyperspace, Chewie is suddenly wearing his Bandolier belt and Han isn’t wearing his pilots gloves.

Understandable, and I think Adywan is on the same page as you for ANH:R:HD. I might just do my own version of the audio track with the March inserted for myself.

It’s not that I don’t think it fits - the imperial march fits perfectly imo for the Death Star reveal - but it takes away from the first time we hear it in ESB.

Regarding Battle of the Heroes, I don’t really think it fits at all.

Yeah, but what would be the problem with making it optional for those that have liked and been used to it from the original Revisited release?

An audio option in the menu.

and it’s not just the Imperial March and Battle of the Heroes.

There is some music playing in the first Tarkin scene. It sounds like The Emperor’s Throne Room.

I feel like the music playing softly in the background adds to that scene immensely.

“Anakin had those qualities so rarely seen, exuding an unmistakable confidence and yet still able to touch one’s heart in simply knowing how he was so flawed… wounded.”

I agree. I know Ady liked Rogue One, so perhaps the Imperial theme from that film (ending as it does with the four-note flourish used in ANH) would suit.

I have no problem with using the Imperial march in ANH:R as such, but I agree with saving its full, bombastic statement for ESB.

The colour grading for ANH:RHD is now complete. All that’s left to do now is to render it out, watch it and then make any adjustments necessary. Now i can move onto the colour grading stage for ROTJ.

Here are a few sample comparisons…

A 1080p 25GB mkv version of the colour graded version will be uploaded soon for anyone that wants it.

(And, please, if you quote this post, make sure you remove the urls for the pictures so it’s easier for people to scroll down the page)

Looks amazing, Adywan! Will a BD version of it be released alongside it at some point too? Btw super excited for ROTJ Revisited!

I apologise in advanced if this has been discussed…or there is some drama I don’t know about…

Is adywan using the TeamNegative 1 4K version for any of the shots now it has been released? I know he is using the BluRay as the basis of this edit.

I think he had mentioned something about how problematic it is to render FX in 4K.

i don’t think he means revisited should be in 4k, just that 4k77 is probably the best source for despecializing the film.

I think it looks good… The only one I am a bit iffy on is the binary sunset.

Have it how you want it but after looking at the original theatrical footage and then the techni-disc and then when I saw the van-ling Dvd menu colors I decided the Dvd menu color was the best reference. You might not feel the same way but I think it’s the best reference for that shot an as is the massasi temple also.

The DVD menu colors were painstakingly recreated from the best sources according to a guy who worked on them, so I would personally default to them for reference. However, this isn’t a restoration, its the first step for a fan edit, so it’s up to how it makes Ady feel.

I don’t have any reservations about what Ady would like to do but get this, I just went into my local charity shop and aquired star wars the complete illustrated script. It’s the same as the van ling dvd menu the binary sunset still in that book. Also the command center displays are very blue. It has been a bit of a surprise upon talking about that shot and then seeing it in a book the same as the dvd menu. It is possible that this book may also hold some answers about certain shots. Anyway it’s a nice little heads up and if you trust that then fine but looking at some shots I would actually trust Ady’s grading than what is in the book.

I think the problem is some shots have gotten a little confused color wise and it’s impossible to say with 100% certainty anything like this is correct but if it is good which it is in Ady’s stills then brilliant.

The illustrated script is based on the Special Edition Version.

I have no trust of any film print entirely because the film is all over the shop for color.

That’s very cool by the way ! Are you also going to release 1080p 25GB mkv versions of your color corrected TESB and ROTJ ?

Yeah but it was the 1997 SE reconstruction, not the 2011 SE ?

Author

It was a reconstruction, IIRC. I don’t recall the resolution. Not sure why I didn’t preserve it…
