If you remove lines like that, you take away the very essence of who these characters are.
Removing a line like that, to me, is as bad as Greedo shooting first.

I prefer it with Han's line too, however this is the way I'd REALLY have liked George to have originally ordered this scene -
Greedo: 'I've been looking forward to this for a long time'
[ BLAM! ]
[ Greedo falls, dead ]
Han: 'Yes, I bet you have....'
:)

Very cool. But we all know that the biggest problem with this scene is that Greedo should have seen this coming from a mile away. He needs to be distracted:
Greedo: 'I've been looking forward to this for a long time'
Ric Olie: Look over there.
[ BLAM! ]
[ Greedo falls, dead ]
Now that would be nice to see.

Nice one TV's Frink, lol!
Darth Chronus, thanks for that, big lol!. :)

My pleasure :)
I have a surprise for good 'ol Ric 'The Hyperdrive is Leaking' Olie :D

Ric I think you should have been Leia's daddy with a line like "STARDESTROYER" it would make more sense.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Now THAT was a joy to see! I especially like the record needle sound effect. Lucas, eat your heart out.

It's an ideas thread and if you have ideas feel free to post them there, here isn't the place as it's a thread dedicated to ANH:R and Ady is finished with that project.
If you have a full project on the go start your own thread up.
I take it you have seen this enjoyable confection :
That Scene was so Damn Awesome
Bloody hell
So, there won't be an ANH:R V2, but didn't Ady need to put the spinning starfield back in and change the needle?
That would only have been if he were to make a V2. Revisited is the way we have it.
That's a damn shame but totally understandable. He must be sick enough of Empire, let alone wanting to go back again to ANH.
Does anyone have a link to a video comparison of the spinning/non spinning starfield? I've never been able to notice what's different, so can't really comment on how this affects continuity between ANH:R and ESB:R.
Edit: Not to worry. Have just checked my SE DVD *spits on floor* and have seen the difference.

There won't be a v2 or ANH:R. i was only going to do this to add a commentary track and maybe 1 or 2 minor tweaks, but i'm not going to do a commentarty track, so that's it i'm afraid.
I would like a commentary track so I could know everything that was done and after watching it several times I could pick up a couple little thing that could be tweaked, because there are so few errors that stand out now like right before R2 get shot by trhe Jawas there is thye restraing bolt mark on him and Ady had fixed the mark that was there right before they put it on him.
The text commentary should be enough for that.
I actually think doubleofive could do a good commentary. It would be like one of those historian commentaries. Just throwing it out there. =P

It might be fun if as many originaltrilogy.com members as possible did a group commentary.
People could submit commentary snippets and the sound could be edited together.
It would be like we were all in the room together, it would be easier for Ady to reply to comments made by other people than to just chat all the way through.
If it worked it could become a feature on a lot of the edits featured here.

Did someone just seriously suggest that I do a commentary? I'm flattered, but I don't know any more than anyone else, I just compiled it all together.
Peter Bogdovich's commentary's on some of Orson Welles's films (becasue Welles is apparently too lazy to record his own DVD commentaries... jerk!) are some of the more interesting things out there to listen too if your a film buff.
I mean, in the young artform/hobby of fanediting, your compilations makes you one of the foremost scholars in an emerging field :)

And instead of trying to badger Ady into re-issuing the disc with the commentary track, just make it available as an MP3 file that people would play in sync with their own Revisited disc, a la Rifftrax.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

ADYWAN, y'hear that? :) Sounds like a great, and very reasonable, idea! I'd love to hear your commentary as you watch the movie for the first time since you finished it. You haven't watched it again yet, right? I have a feeling it could have some hilarious moments. We'd probably hear your frustrations and such, too.
Whaddaya think?!
Thanks for the link Double Five.

I think they did have him record some commentaries but, in his current state, they didn't turn out to be very interesting :P
Too right, to quote one of my favorite films, "I think the dead should shut up, unless there's something to say".
