Oh dear. Looks like it. Maybe you have a very slightly different disk layout to me :-(

Darth Solo said:

Erm, do i have files that you dont have on your disk going on the size of my convertion:

Yours is 7.7 GB????

Its like the blind leading the blind here. Moth3r!!!

they should both be exactly the same as the disc i sent cjtc is taken from the ISO i posted to usenet but when making the iso to match one thats taken from a disc and not direct from the image the file size exactly matches cjtc's. I just tried creating an image from the iso and one from a burned disc and the file sizes are very slightly different. but your file size seems to be totally different from both of my attempts Darth Solo.

well some bad news. even though the file sizes report in windows to be exactly the same , azureus won't accept it saying it doesn't match :(

edit: actually ripping it from a burned dvd of the iso i posted to usenet only the MDS is unacceptable. it seems to be accepting the iso. i just  replaced the iso file created by the torrent, did a force recheck of the files, let the torrent download the MDS and it all seems to be working

i can only help seed for a few hours because i need to start getting this thing up on rapidshare, but at least it will give a little boost

In the process of putting it up on alt.binaries.starwars too. Going to take a long time to complete uploading though, particularly with me continuing to be the only seed of the torrent :-( Hang in there guys, it'll be there eventually.

Broken Menu:

I torrent'ed the DVD-9 version last winter, but it's giving me some issues.

My menu "breaks" when going to the "Deleted & Extended Scenes".  It gets to what I presume is the last frame of the animation and then it freezes.  I have to turn off the DVD player.  It does this on my PC, on my Xbox, and on every DVD player I've tried it on (3 or 4).  I figure I must have a corrupted menu file.  It also won't go to the Multi-Angle Special Effects Breakdown.  It doesn't freeze there, but it doesn't start anything either.

I can play all of the deleted scenes if I jump directly to the Title that they're on.

Can anyone guess which file is corrupted?  And then maybe have the good graces to send me the replacements?

Thanks.

Sorry cjtc. Ive messed about for hours trying to get an identical ISO to yours, and i managed to get an image that was just 2Kb short of yours, but my client will not accept it as being part of the torrent!!

I give up!!!! Sorry.

was the version you got still as an ISO or had it been unpacked to give you the VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS  & DVD-ROM folders? also what version did you get. the PAL or NTSC one? Also what media and speed did you use

It was an unpacked VIDEO_TS, etc..  NTSC.  I have Verbatim DL discs, but the menu is broken even when I play the vob's directly from my PC.

Thanks!

Look for an intact ISO.  I had that problem at first, and I got my copy from RapidShare.  WinRAR recognized the ISO as "un-zippable", so I unpacked it and burned the folders to a disc and had the same problem.  When I used it properly, "Burn Image to Disc" in Nero, it worked fine.

sounds like you got the version that someone unpacked the ISO using winrar that was originally posted over at demonoid. unfortunately the way it was unpacked totally screwed one of the menu video files and the structure of the disc. why people just don't keep the ISO & MDS files intact when torrenting movies i'll never know. i had so many angry emails when this first happened even though it through no fault of mine.

I'll see if i can find my original fix for this issue and get back to you ASAP

Thanks.  I would seek out the ISO, but it took me weeks just to get the version I've got.  If Ady can find a quick (read: smaller) fix, it would really make my day.  And a couple friends' of mine too.

Hi cjtc, Im downloading the one from Binaries.Starwars, but it seems to have a few missing parts on 4 of the rar's, any chance of uploading some Par2 files? once Ive done this I'll be looking to seed it on torrent (if someone can help me with that later hehe).

I see adywan has released a 1080p bluray version of the EP4, but it only has colour correction and fixed greedo scene.

so my question is:

Will we ever see a 1080p version of the full Revisited edit?  I suppose that would depend largely on whether he made his original edits in 1080p... which is probably unlikely :-(

Episode IV was done in DVD quality, and V is being done in 720p. Those are the highest that the saga could possibly be in.

This has been addressed multiple times. No, it will not.

Any updates on my menu problem?  I wanted to burn a DVD and sent it to my brothers, and I thought I should wait until I can get it fixed.

(I'm not trying to sound ungrateful)

Hello.

Heres my two cents on the project.

Overall it is a remarkable improvement upon any official releases out there, and essentially a saving grace for all those true fans who remained feeling neglected after Lucas' tampering.

Great array of technical fixes and wonderful visual improvements (To me its the little things that make the movie so much better and elevate the film quality, eg. the new death star hologram additions, improved and added ships, etc.), the restored Greedo scene, and wise removal of the extended Mos Eisley scenes, these I think remain the most important and valued changes.

Yet there are things that either bothered me or felt unnecessary, for example the changing the type of hand of Ponda Baba, (I do believe that officially there was another varient of the species had that padlike hand) was kind off unnecessary. The extended reveals also in a way, although a nice effort, do not fit in well neither does the music, and feels cringy in terms of plain old film making. Neither does the Ben's home rearrangment scene fit well for me. For this I am thankful of the purist release.

Nevertheless the above assessments are either indifferent or have been attended by Adywan himself.

Now I come to what I really wanted to address and not sound like a review rather a request. A few things that should not have been changed and were you kind off became your own "George Lucas" is Chewbacca getting the medal and Lukes reaction to Biggs' death.

Essentially these are plot elements and should not have been changed not for the sake of my opinion or what I would like but for the sake of the film. If in the story he does not get a medal, then he doesn't get a medal. Maybe its a customary thing that a slave does not get the medal or that it was reserved for the captain of the ship in getting the medal as representing the whole crew ie. Han. I don't know the reason. But thats how scene was since the original release. Same thing with Lukes reaction to Biggs death if thats how he originally reacted, then thats how he reacted, why? that can be discussed, maybe it reveals a more reserved nature in Luke tied with the moment and his relationship with Biggs. These changes, however minute, change the plot element. Just like the change in the Greedo scene changed the character of Han.

Is there anyway that these issues could possibly be addressed in a future in the Purist edition or a possible future "revisit of the revisited" :b All this might sound a bit nitpicky of a fantastic job, but it would make all the other valuable improvements made by Adywan to the movie all the more special if some things just remain untouched. :)

Couple of points Arkanian.

First, welcome to the boards.

Second, I can understand you didn't like some of the things Ady did, but saying he's acting like Lucas is a little uncalled-for. I don't think there are many here besides the man himself who agree with every single change he made, but we don't have to; while he posts here for feedback and incorporates some of our suggestions, it's his personal project. Furthermore, this is a fan-edit, and one of the things fan-edits often do is change the story. If in the story he doesn't get a medal, but Adywan thinks the story/film would be better if he did, then he gets a medal. Ady will be making considerable story changes when he gets around to Return of the Jedi and especially the prequels. I don't think Ady's versions will replace the originals for any of us; they might replace the SE as alternative versions.

As for asking that these things be addressed, I'm afraid Adywan does not intend to make another release of ANH:R, and no release could ever satisfy everyone. What you can do, however, is take his edit and make your own little changes (just be sure to give him the credit if you release it). The two examples you mentioned should be relatively trivial to change back.

Apologies if I came off as a bit negatively, I have great admiration for what Adywan accomplished here. I don't think it was his aim to change story elements, because nowhere else is this done, rather I think he wanted to improve the things that assist the existing story elements, which hes done more or less quite well. The things I pointed out lastly were likely unintentional on his part in what effects they make in terms of the plot elements, however small. Therefore the change can be compared to what Lucas did with the Greedo and Han scene, but I'm sure Lucas did it with a more sinister intention.

Yes, I was expecting to be told to go away and do my own edit using Adawan's :b, but unfortunatly I do not know how :(, it would help if I could get some pointers on how it's done or influence someone knows how to do it. Nevertheless, I would like to mention I am an avid and quite conservative SW fan, and now I am a fan of Adywan :D, and would be very greatful if I would be one of those with the suggestians he would consider for his future projects namely ROTJ for which I have very much to delve into eagerly. So far ESB looks like its being handled quite nicely, all fixes listed are those I happily can agree with, it looks nice and clean and its looking like it could be his best edit so far :).
