Actually, yeah I have compared it to a lot of other players. I've had several high-end Pioneer Elite players and the XA2 is better than all of them. I'm VERY picky when it comes to home theater components and the XA2 is the best upconverting player I've found yet. Oh, and by the way, just because the format might be dead it doesn't mean that all the HD-DVD players will immediately stop working and become obsolete.

One thing I will agree with you on........let's stop the back and forth about this so we can focus back on Adywan's edit.

Not to continue the format war crap, but I was reading (wikipedia) that the new HD-DVD players will stop shipping to stores by the end of this month, and the last new movies on the format will be released in June (but the blank media will still be sold).

Finally got a chance to sit down and take a look at this thing. Sometimes it is almost a surreal experience watching this thing, you are watching an old movie you have seen a million times before and suddenly a stunning visual that you are not used to pops up on the screen.

This thing is really fun to watch. Even the so called "video game cutscene" TIE Fighters are really amazing looking. I feel like they look a lot better than most CG I see on the big screen these days. As I have said before, this will never replace my 1977 version, but man is this thing a cool alternative version.

Adyway, I just finished watching this movie and I am completely blown away. Its like watching Star Wars again for the first time. The production values are magnificent and I love all the new shots. I almost want to call this the "Extra Special Edition."

And I can't help but think that you may have given Lucas a few ideas. Especially concerning your choice of musical score during the final duel.

Outstanding work. I thank you from the bottom of my heart from one Star Wars fan to another.

So....I have 2-3 peers seeding of about 28-32 peers.....does that sound right, and is there any difference in the pirate bay torrent? At this rate I may have this downloaded by the time the DVD-9 is ready?

I see 3 seeds, 54 peers. It's the Pirate Bay torrent, but I got it off Mininova.

@ gavin77: It could be that no one is uploading at very fast speeds, or it could mean that you need to try some different ports for your Bittorrent client. Are you using a router, if so try forwarding your ports. I'm still downloading my copy from a.b.starwars, and I'm almost finnished. I had to stop my download earlier today because of work or else I would be watching it right know.

I don't think there is any secrecy surrounding the PAL version. The problem is with player compatibility surrounding the Toshiba HD DVD player if I'm not mistaken. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for your help.....I couldn't figure out how to forward my ports on my router, so I just hooked my computer up via ethernet cable.....nothing has really changed....very, very slow.....0 download rate right now.....

I'm from europe and my video material is for PAL system, as known the PAL is better quality but it's much "quicker" 25 imps (NTSC 29imps). and most of my DVD's are PAL...

I'll be honest I have no idea what the Ep30 is equivalent to. And I just updated the firmware last week.
It *does* sound like an NTSC problem, I'm about 3 hours away from completing that download so I'll get that burned ASAP and check it out for you guys.

Now that the dvd-5 is out, should we be considering posting a new xvid and taking down the old one ? Im sure this fan edit is going to get lots of attention and osme people will download the old xvid and see the film pre-final changes.

p.s. no there is no secret about the PAL version we are all just commenting that people only seem to be seeding a NTSC version. I will try and get one up sometime soon if I can.
