I have a few suggestions if you don't mind me throwing in my two cents. I didn't read every post so you may have already addressed some these.
1. Go ahead and drop the whole Jabba scene. Personally, I never liked it. I doesn't work for the film and it wasn't necessary to the story. It also diminishes Jabba's pressence in ROTJ.
2. I'd drop the Luke and Biggs scene in the hanger as well. It's another unnecessary change that adds nothing to the story.
3. Could you eliminate the blood around Walrus-Man's arm after Kenobi cut it off? Maybe add some burns around the shoulder as well. It makes more sense that lightsaber wounds would be cauterized.
4. Could you perhaps change Kenobi's Krayt Dragon call back to the original sound or even use a new sound altogether? The current whistle doesn't work for me. I don't buy that a giant lizard the size of a dinasuar would whistle. I wouldn't be afraid of that whistle sound.
5. Lucas censored the shootout in the detention block with the officers. Could you restore the original footage?
6. Would it be possible to 'fix' the Dewbacks and the Sandtroopers riding on them in the desert? They don't move very naturally. It currently looks kinda phony and cartoony.
7. Where do you stand on the rings of fire around the explosions of Alderaan and the Death Star? I don't care for these myself. It looks to me like an imitation from Star Trek 6.
8. The Death Star plans that are downloaded from R2-D2 look dated and cheesy. Any chance you could update them to look more modern?
These are just my opinions of course and you don't have to listen to me. I, like almost everyone else here, just want the OT to be as perfect as it possibly can be.
There are a couple changes that you've made that I'm unsure of.
Are you certain the Rebel Base computer tracking the Death Star needed to be corrected? I don't think anything was wrong with either the way the Death Star was tracking the Yavin moon or the way the Rebel Base was tracking the Death Star. If you look closely, they both show the Death Star orbiting counter clockwise around Yavin. For the Imperials the Death Star is tracking the Rebel moon BEHIND the planet. For the Rebels the Death Star is the little red circle, the big blue circle is their moon. There is no contradiction, they both show the same perspective.
Also, are you sure it's necessary to have a Super Star Destroyer present at the battle of Yavin? First, I always assumed Vader had a customized TIE fighter with hyperdrive so seeing him fly off into space alone never bothered me. Second, I always thought Super Star Destroyers were built in the timefram between ANH and ESB, none existed before then. Third, when the Death Star was destroyed a Star Destroyer could just launch wave after wave of TIE fighters and TIE bombers to wipeout the Rebel Base. The Rebels lost alot of ships and men, there's no way they would be able to put up a defense. I apologize if it sounds like I'm nit picking. I just don't think either of these changes were needed.
Keep up the good work, adywan. I wish I was as gifted as you and had a sophisticated enough computer to attempt what you're doing. Peace.
