You mean confine spoilers to the first page? Because Ady basically laid out 99% of the changes (except the minor ones he forgot).

What other spoilers could there possibly be? We've all seen "Star Wars." The exact location of the George Lucas cameo?

Me, I'd rather be able to show people screen caps and tell them what's in this, than have to worry about blabbing it, but that's me.

So I might actually be able to see this thing over the weekend? Cool. I was thinking it was going to be February...

I'm going to hold off on the back patting until it's actually confirmed as watchable off the 'net (or a playable disc arrives). Still might be possible to jinx it! (j/k)

Just my opinion, but why bother? You can get the whole thing soon enough....

I know. It is kinda of like when people see a mid night show when they can see it for the next few weeks.

Bad new guys, and you are all going to hate me for this. Somethings pretty screwed with the audio. For some reason the volume is fluctuating during the louder scenes. I think the problem is down to exporting the ac3 through vegas. So unfortunately until i have sorted out the audio problem i have no other choice but to delay the release. Hopefully i will have found a solution by tomorrow at the latest and have things back on track for a release the next day. Sorry

Is it a problem with the xvid encode, the dvd encode, or both? I won't speak for anyone else, but for me personally I'm only after the full-on DVD release! To hell with xvid I say! To hell with it!! A few more days won't kill me though...

You lucky PAL people can download the XVid when it's out... out of personal preference, I won't, because the speeding up REALLY bugs me. As for a delay, who cares? We'll still get this eventually.

The Force is with you Ady,

First of all i just want to say congratulations for completing your project! Well done Ady. You deserved it. Don't worry about the snags that has just got you. These things happen in life. The good news of the projects' completion far outweighs the bad news of some damn audio problems. heh heh.

Just a thought. It took GL four years to make ANH and TFM from scratch with his entire Lucasfilm and ILM team plus many more. It took you two years to edit the film all by yourself. hmmmm

Good huh?

Well a spot of good news. I've just discovered that it is indeed a problem with vegas' ac3 encoding. I have just tested a problem section using Maven3D pro and the problem has gone away, but the audio is a little quieter (could be due to the wav exporting because Vegas is reporting the audio as too loud when the peaks clearly show that they are well below the threshold). I might just skip the xvid completely and go straight to the PAL & NTSC DVD-5 versions because the encoding quality of the xvid, even with a 2 disc size, is below par. But i may still do an xvid if i can get it looking better

So, this means the DVD9 will come later?

S'okay. I can wait a few more weeks. I mean, Super Smash Bros. Brawl was delayed until March 9th from February 10th, but I'm not overly annoyed; just reassured of the fact that the quality is the utmost priority.

BTW, what's the difference between a DVD-5 and a DVD-9? 'Cause I think I might be going for DVD-9 when all is said and done.

DVD-5 is a single layer DVD and DVD-9 is a dual layer DVD. The DVD-9 can hold almost twice the disc space as a DVD-5, but there are fewer people out that can burn DVD-9's. More disc space means that the video has fewer artifacts and there can be more alternate audio tracks.

I'd go for either, really. I can show the DVD-5 to friends and keep the DVD-9 version on my computer for when I get a Superdrive in the future.

You're right, to a certain extent; though there are some things Adywan hasn't shown us, like the new Death Star explosion, some new shots in the DS battle, the new severed arm in the cantina, etc. He's also said that he's kept some things secret so that we'll be surprised -- it's mainly those things that I wouldn't want to have ruined for me or anyone else ("OMG Ady, I loved the new Ewoks and Jar-Jar dancing scene as part of the extended Cantina musical number!"), since we won't know they're coming. As I said, it was just an idea I was throwing out there; if nothing happens with it, no worries.

Take care,

Newer than the one in the previously released clip? I guess I missed that detail.

Doesn't really bother me, but whatever. I guess when it comes out don't click on the thread until you've watched it.

Looking back, when the real Special Editions came out, all the "big surprises" (well, other than greedo shooting first, ugh) were spoiled in the trailers. I was totally anti-spoiler for the prequels though (but the originals? I've already seen the movies, so it's only a few visual/audio effects that will be "surprises").

As for DVD-9. I can burn them, I've just never seen the blank media for sale in stores. I'd have to order some online. But I'm not going to order some until I have a better idea when it's actually coming out...

well the audio problem looks to have been solved. using Maven3D Pro to encode the AC3 file has produced 100% better results than using Vegas. The difference in clarity is amazing. it sounds just the same as the uncompressed original, and the volume is the same level too. it will be a bit quieter than the original 2004 DVD's but that is mainly due to having to lower it slightly because of all the extra elements in the mix. Just crank the volume up. So with any luck you should see the first version (probably the xvid if i can get the quality a lot better) as early as tomorrow evening

Fantastic News Ady.......can't wait for the XVid version......it will work out nice since the Xbox360 recently got the update that supports that format. It does a pretty good job of upconverting it and everything. You are the man....we appreciate you

beacause i was working with a PAL source due to the higher image quality and hadn't created an NTSC version when i was posting the clips

Okay, so this is a dumb question, but - is this release in PAL res, or NTSC res to go with the audio & framerate?
