I think there were slight differences between the refit and Enterprise-A.

I said I liked the design of the ship in the first movie, I never said I liked the first movie. It was a snore fest.
deleted, I think I went too far.

Totally agree. Sadly, its theatrical version is not available, and I've only seen the Director's Cut, which was supposed to make the movie much better... I honestly didn't see how it could be any worse. Slowest thing ever. But I'd still prefer to see the original version.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

speaking of.... are the original theatrical versions of all the trek movies available? I've only seen a few of the trek films, but like gaffer tape, i've only been able to find director's cuts of several of them.... It feels kind of like watching the special editions of Star Wars without ever having seen the orginals... ick! If they aren't on dvd, are they on laserdisc?

III, IV, and V are supposedly the original versions. I and II are clearly labeled as Director's Cuts. VI is not labeled that way, but it's not the theatrical version, either. If you can find the old non-anamorphic single disc releases, those are supposedly the original versions (except for VI, as I don't think its theatrical cut was ever released on home video).

God--its so much more tedious. You know all those long, unnecessary, gratuitous shots of the Enterprise that shows off the FX? The DC trimmed about half of it. Personally I thought the DC was pretty decent, but maybe its because I had fallen asleep the only time I watched the original version when I was 10.

i am furious that due to conflicts with jj's new season of lost, and reportedly a sequel to the turd that is cloverfield, star trek 11 has been pushed back from christmas to may 2009.

the only possible good thing i can see coming out of this is it will give them time to find william shatner a part in the movie if his ego and money grabbing are checked at the door.

is it possible that the delays on this movie among other movies out there being pushed back has anything to do with the ended writer's strike?

i mean it pushed back narnia 2 and pretty much made the next temrinator movies cancelled and has had brian singer walk off of superman the man of steel, and led to the demise of the justice league movie.

supposedly the new james bond quantum of solace and indiana jone IV crystal skulls come out on schedule.

Here is the Enterprise design for the new "STAR TREK" film coming out December 25th 2008.

I'm willing to bet my left nut those pictures are fake. When I say fake, I mean - Not the Enterprise from the new movie, They look suspiciously like the work of long time Trek fan Gabe Koerner [sp?]

- this excludes the actual shot from the teaser trailer of course. Actually if you compare, the other shots don't match what we see from the trailer shot.

I think that's the real deal. Looks to be the same ship as in the official trailer.

This looks more believable, although I have doubts about that too.

The other good thing about bringing it out in May versus Christmas is that the Summer season is typically better for movies than the Christmas season is.

Does Shatner even want a part in the movie? Seriously, all indications to me show that the guy has moved on. Star Trek isn't his life. He seems more interested in not being known as just Captain Kirk.

Demise of the Justice League movie? IMDB lists it as Pre-Production with a date of 2010. And actually, there's an article posted on its listing that says Warner is pushing ahead with a 2009 release date. In that same listing, they say T4 is also scheduled for 2009.

I'd say all the delays and indefinite holds were definitely related to the writer's strike. Now that the strike is over though, everything can get moving again.

Could it be that "Justice League" is held up due to the "Superman: Man of Steel" movie? I'm sure they don't want two films with Superman played by two different actors to come out at the same time. I'm also sure that "Superman: Man of Steel" will get more support by the studio to come out first.

I'm hoping that the "Iron Man" and "Incredible Hulk" films are going to be good. Still waiting to see the Hulk trailer.

In a way I'm glad Star Trek is getting some more production time, and it is not going to be a rush job {Like Star Trek The Motion Picture}. Filming is starting about now, and they will have more time to tweak the film if it does not come out as good as they expect.

Well well...

"The rumoured new old Enterprise is not the real McCoy (good, because that will keep the surprise.) It's the work of CG artist Gabriel Köerner, who is the author of the video above and the gallery after the jump."

Could it be that Justice League sounds like it's going to be a really bad movie based on a bad DC comic?

Iron Man on the other hand... I'm so glad that it looks like it's been done right. Looking forward to seeing that one.

When has that ever held up a Hollywood movie though?

Wait, what? What 'bad DC comic' is the Justice League movie based on? I had thought it was going to be sort of an amalgam of the two Crises, with Barry Allen's death at the start and the OMACs playing a role later on.

I can't believe no one saw that the lettering on the trailer Enterprise is different from those CG pictures that screamed to me as fake. And apparently I was right.

Uh, yeah I did, but that's not the only difference.

From what we've heard this film is not simply a reboot/ do-over [ala Batman Begins] and somehow ties into the existing series. Common sense dictates the ship in the movie should retain the same shape as the original NCC-1701, Only more detailed. the pics, Although nicely done are too different.

What's interesting though is that the Ship is shown under construction, although we know from 'The Original Series' that Kirk was not the first captain of the enterprise. I wonder if this will be handled in an interesting and conflict free way [story wise] or if it will be a case of rebooting certain elements.

I'm really more interested in seeing this for who's involved and what they manage to pull off rather than expecting to be entertained. One thing is certain though, Star Trek 10 was terrible no matter hgow you slice it so hopefully we can only go up from there.

Well i notice that on IMDb that Christopher Pike is listed so maybe we'll see some sort of "hand over" of the Captains reigns.

Yeah, a little birdy [Dayv] pointed that out to me earlier, But Pike wasn't the first captain of the Enterprise [ncc 1701] either.

I'm not saying there's a problem here, Just making an observation.

Yes, the first Captain was Robert April. He was shown in an episode of the short lived cartoon. That episode title is "The Counter-Clock Incident".

When Roddenberry submitted his first proposal for Star Trek to MGM Studios in 1964, his name for the starship commander was "Robert M. April"

He was also used in a few of the official novels. ("Final Frontier" and "Best Destiny" by Diane Carey and in "Crisis on Vulcan" by Brad and Barbara Strickland)
