THE LINK THAT MOTTI GAVE US SHOWS THE ACTUAL DVD COVER ART FOR ALL REGIONS. I WAS JUST ON SW.COM HYPERSPACE. THEY HAD A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT ON THERE SHOWING THE EXACT SAME COVERS. IMHO, THE BOX LOOKS FANTASTIC. I'M INTERESTED IN SEEING THE INDIVIDUAL CASE COVERS. RIGHT NOW ONLY HYPERSPACE MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO SEE THE IMAGES, BUT AS MOTTI'S LINK SHOWS THESE IMAGES HAVE BEEN LEAKED. THE OFFICIAL PUBLIC DEBUT OF THE IMAGES WILL HIT IN A WEEK.

Leak is not quite the right word for what was done.
They released the stuff on their Hyperspace, and some member with half a brain saved the file and posted it somewhere else.

If I was a member, I would have done the same thing.

Regardless, I agree, I think the cover looks great. The Vader mask looks more like a concept image, I've seen something like it in pencil drawings on my Behind the Magic CD.
The other half is from one of the movie posters (there were 2 styles like that...this is the non-Hildebrandt one).

Yep, these are official. They're even posted on the DigitalBits. Nice looking box. I like the original Vader artwork that McQuarrie did on the one side. Fits in nicely with the original VHS SE releases. Wonder what the individual cases look like and how they're gonna make the PT boxes fit in, looks wise.

Ehm... why doesn't the box say 'special edition' on it?

i condsider that to be totally wrong!
the man should clearly label them the shitty bastardiest versions.. or SE would be fine.

but ya its totally wrong for him not labeling them properly...

Bossk they said the individual cover art should be released sometime this week or next....
i cant wait to see what they'll look like...
i could use them for my bootlegs... LOL

When the images are released, e-mail them my way and I'll Photoshop in a text bubble that says "The Real Version". Or some such.

They are labled as the movies they are. The Special Editions are the only version that excist. I don't see anything wrong with the packaging.

GL stopped labeling them as SEs with the 2nd VHS release.

But what happens when the Ultimate Edition comes out. Then it's a misnomer. May as well name them in anticipation of what is nearly a 100% guaranteed eventuality.

In 2007 the Ultimate Editions will be the only versions of the movie.
Author
Time
But won't that warrant a non-qualifier as a title? Meaning, if the ultimate editions, due in 2007, are the way that GL wants them, shouldn't they have the simple, straight forward title of Star Wars instead of the 2004 edition having that name? Why not give the 2004 editions an alternate title like the "Special Edition" so when the 2007s come out, people who are otherwise clueless will know the difference?

I feel that so long as all of us have copies of the original and SE movies, your statement will not be true.

That's like saying that the current nickel is the only version of the nickel. Its not. The buffalo nickel still exists, even if they are not in circulation.

And then there's the new nickel that was just released.

And then there's the Susan B. Anthony dollar, which bears the strongest resemblance to the SEs.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Would that make the Sacajawea (sp?) dollar coin the equivalent of the Ultimate Edition?
