Rogue One differences from Theatrical Cut?

Author

It’s already common knowledge TFA had 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 changes on Blu Ray as opposed to the Theatrical Version involving the score.
If it’s anything we learned, it’s that any Star Wars home media pre 1997 has some change. So is there a possibility that Rogue One has been treated any better?

The quickest & easiest way to find out any changes/differences is to compare a cam version of the film to the official blu ray / digital download…?

I’m told the ‘Deflickered’ or ‘AC3-CPG’ versions of Rogue One were two of the better quality cams out there…

I find that answer vague and unconvincing. Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Yeah, I’d assume we all already got the Blu Ray, now it’s time to hunt down those Cam rips.

EDIT: I have the Deflickered version now although whatever method the bootleggers used to stabilize the image results in frame blending

Just a small gripe as it’s a rather decent cam rip. I’ll start watching the Cam first, then the digital version.

Just finished watching both simultaneously (the Deflickered cam and official Digital Download) - there were no additional scenes - nor were there any scenes missing (both ran at the same length too). I didn’t notice any changes to the dialogue or music - nor any changes to what was on screen.

There a bloody amazing difference in quality between the two (obviously), as well as colour, detail and being able to see the emotions of the actors - really enjoyed watching it (them) again 😃

Just finished doing the same. Looks like for the first time, a Star Wars movie has gone unbutchered, for better or worse. It’s possible we could be dealing with a missing speeder situation (AOTC), a small visual change, but only time will tell.

Are you really calling TFA’s home video release “butchered”?

Was there ever a definitive list of things changed? Aside from people being incorrect about the flags, I mostly remember discussion of the length of the credits (probably the score you mention). However, at the time I’m not sure that there were cams with intact credits.

No. But it was changed.
I wasn’t being literal.

No that was changed before the theatrical release. (J J and his anti prequel boner)

I believe there is a cam with credits intact, and there is no change with the length I’ve heard of. Just one of the music tracks that plays during the credits.

Was there ever a definitive list of things changed?

If there was, I’ve never seen it.

There was also a line of alien dialogue removed in Maz’s castle at I think 58:12.

There is plenty of evidence that these changes happened during release and the DVD/BR is 100% faithful to one of the releases. I found multiple audio streams in the camera prints and all these changes can be found at that point.

Just to be clear, you’re saying that the issue is variability in the theatrical run?

Bullshit!

You tell me how it makes sense for a second that she’d have that flag in her possession. And don’t try and justify it with some other piece of media explaining the flag’s origin. In the context of the film, it’s Anakin’s flag and nothing else. I think it’s a change that makes sense.

That, and I think you’re overestimating how much the prequels would really have an influence on the current state of affairs in the in-universe galaxy. Or are you complaining about lack of world-building while also arguing they should visit more planets we’ve already seen before!?

I’m just here because I’m driving tonight.

Woah, woah. That comment was made sarcastically, as well as my signature. This thread is about RO’s home media matching the one shown in theaters, not about me. Find someplace else to discuss that.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

You’re doing a poor job of expressing it.

Also, no one believes you.

Can you bring up a boner? Isn’t it already up by definition?

Do you have these audio streams, could be used to see if the Blu Ray used another mix.

There have been a lot of ups and downs in this thread.

Yes. I have more than one camera print and one has changes from what came out on home video and one did not. It may be domestic vs international English. I have no clue where the English language track for the camera prints came from. But I do have two completely different ones. Particularly that line by the women in black and white as she tells the large alien something. One has her line, one does not.

I figure with the flag is was probably a placeholder for an unfinished shot.

I think all the other changes are bs but I think the credits extension is probably legit. I saw the film in theaters quite a few times and knew the end credit suite pretty well and I never noticed a difference (and at least one difference between those two is obvious - the inclusion of Scherzo for X-Wings). Not to mention the smoking gun (which no one seems to mention) is the FYC end credit suite. All the FYC tracks contain the music as heard in the film, edits and all. The FYC end credit suite is longer than the OST one as it’s been edited to include the concert version of March of the Resistance. So why else would the FYC have that edit and not the Rey’s Theme and Scherzo for X-Wings edits present on the Blu-ray?

…You mean like trying to justify how she randomly has Anakin’s lightsaber after it fell out of a vent shaft into a gas planet some 30-odd years prior?

At least Anakin’s flag still being around is plausible.
