Rogue One * Spoilers * Thread — Page 2

I hope the dialogues of the vilains are written the same way of the OT, and not the new 2K generation way, such as :

This is the Empire. I… hum… Empire ?

And we can assume that there will be an old rebel guy who will say to the suicide death star plans squad “May the Force be with you”.

“I have to say that I felt George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.” - James Cameron about Episode VII.

I am posting this here even though it is not really a spoiler but the thing that I am left pondering most and there is no spoilers for Rogue one but perhaps if people never saw Star Wars (A new hope).

So people have been saying that this film is a prequel. But will it be a prequel entirely.

Now many people speculate that this will include the Blockade Runner from the opening scenes of Star Wars. But I do imagine that we will see R2-D2 having the stolen plans uploaded to his memory.

So what I am saying is will this film exist somewhat in the same timeline and will there be more story to tell if we don’t follow the droids in the escape pod?

I don’t know the answer but I am actually quite excited in how this could turn out. But the dialogue is a bit worrisome.

The Shot of the AT-AT’s features a communications dish. This I believe is where the transmission will be sent from that The Blockade Runner Intercepts. Alerting the Empire to the Blockade Runner with Princess Leia aboard.

I can imagine seeing the Blockade Runner Sequence from the Empires perspective.

In fact this is what Leia does in the opening scene of ANH. Leia has the plan when the movie begins, she uploads them into R2 after having recording her message to Ben.

Handsome

Jokes aside, I do think we’ll see the plans handed off to Leia at the end. We won’t see her, but the audience will know who it is.

Ah yes on the credit card!

I think what I am trying to establish if this movie will end with the transmission being sent and I think the answer is there will be another 30 minutes to go after the transmission is sent. so I think the movies timelines will crossover a little bit.

I think the idea of overlap with Star Wars is a distinct possibility. Don’t we see storm troopers burning out Owen and Beru’s home in the trailer? That’s at least what I imagine that image is.

I was wondering the same thing but doesn’t that scene look a little too Green in the trailer? Too much vegetation.

Yeah. It also looks a little rocky. I guess it’s not. Seems odd you’d need vaporators outside of a desert…

To modern eyes, it does look like Leia is using Artoo to do her banking. 😉

I frankly don’t see “how”. No life form escapes the Tantive IV. Leia’s got the plans and clearly puts them into R2. Everyone on board of the Tantive is either killed or made prisoner. It’s supposed to be a diplomatic ship, so no obvious members of the Rebellion (i.e. the death star suicide squad) would have boarded it. There is already no need to tell this story, so I don’t think at all they are going to step on ANH.

On a screenplay point of view I don’t have any hopes about this reboot/prequel; but the director knows how to shoot action scenes and how to create suspense. He’s also got a very good visual style (Godzilla 2014 is not a great movie at all, the script is lazy, the main protagonist isn’t interesting, but there are a few dazzling ideas). So at least Rogue One could be visually interesting and, why not, surprising. If I get a mediocre/average movie, it will be more than I expect.

In the Radio version we “see” Leia receive the plans from Rebels under attack from Imperials.
We may see that conflict and hear Leia receive the transmissions. Starting the first film off and gaining a mention in the crawl.

“Thanks for your hard work. You’ll get full credit in the opening crawl… Now they are all dead, what the hell am I going to do with the two gold medals they were supposed to receive ?”

Technically, it’s a midquel (or interquel; I always get the two confused).

Doubt that the sun doth move,
Doubt truth to be a liar,
But never doubt I love.

It could also be considered a sidequel?

These terms all sound like brands of alcohol heavy cold medicine! 😉

I think we will probably follow the characters in this film Rogue one whilst the Tantive IV is being attacked. The film will have to show them making the transmission of the plans and that’s not really an ending to a film that is just the mission being completed which is not grounds enough to base a movie on. It is simply an event we know happened.

But I do believe we will be in no doubt about when the Tantive is attacked as like I said I think we will see that from the Empires Perspective rather than the Rebels perspective.
