Some ideas:
-The music for the title card for ROGUE ONE felt odd. I like to change it into some JW type of music.

-The planets names should be removed.

-Maybe try to extend the ending of R1 (Maybe see Leia walking on the Tantive with 3PO and R2 and cuts to the planet Tatooine seen from a pilot’s window) since the ending was sudden.

Ooh, would be nice to see Tantive over Tatooine, then the camera pan UP to the exact starfield that opens New Hope (basically a reversal of that opening) maybe(?)

THIS

Maybe some slick editing can use where they are downloading the plans (where you see it on the atari monitor) and have someone say “get this to the princess”

I love Vader kicking ass at the end, but when they have a conversation 20 minutes later, it seems, between Vader and Leia and Cap’n Antellies in star wars
They are playing dumb but plausibly. We’re on a diplomatic mission, blah blah, several transmissions were beemed to the ship by rebel spies. WE INTERCEPTED no trasmissions. Holding her is dangerous. traced the rebel spies to her, my only link to finding the base. Doesn’t seem like Vader is on a straight persuit. Perhaps Vader can see The tantive iv jump to hyperspace.

Fwiw I think the introductory Vader scene can come earlier it would be nice to have his presence felt. Whitesuit guy could know he’s in trouble and try to talk to Vader before tarkin takes over the DS

Long story long the 2 minutes of Vader ruling as might have to be cut and used on ANHR2 I think adywan has a life size tantive IV at his house he can use for some shots.

Add more ANH OST.

Cut/Tweak the shot of the Stormtrooper yelling “hey you, stop right there” at the blind guy in Jedha (the audio is fine, but it is a close up and the stormtrooper doesn’t make any body movement (which is all the acting a masked guy can make) while delivering it. Feels very weird.

Add Vader’s breathing while he’s in the bacta tank.

Re-synch the line when Vader is talking and points his finger at Krennic. The line is “until you rest assured Galen Erso hasn’t compromise this weapon…in any way.” By the line delivery, his gesture should go exactly in “in any way”. But he just does it at a random point of the line.

Re-dub Vader if possible in somelines where he just looses his calm speech and puts way to emphasis.

I revisited the conversation just to precise the line in the upper paragraph, and I can almost confirm that there are different versions of the movie in cinemas. At least in versions that made it up here Vader makes a rethorical question when he says:

“It’s power to create problems has certainly been confirmed…A city destroyed, an imperial facility openly attacked!!?”

But in the version I recently heard, he clearly delivers a statement, in a more Vader-esque way.

Strange.

Logging the Novel (Book) scene order.

In the novel the scenes at the beginning are in a different order being the Prologue (Flashback to Lah’mu) then not Back to Jyn but to Cassian then Bodhi Rook and then we get back to Jyn and stay with her until broken out of the Jail.

“It’s power to create problems has certainly been confirmed…A city destroyed, an imperial facility openly attacked!!?”

^ I never heard this in the version I saw I am going to watch it again tomorrow I think so I’ll look out for it.

Rogue One as Episode III ideas:

-Add opening crawl (with JW theme) which describes events from the end of Catalyst. Mostly just about Galen learning that his Kyber research was to be weaponized and he and his family fled to Lah’mu.

-Remove location subtitles.

-Add scene transition wipes

The Han Solo movie, if any good, could become an alternate Episode II, since it would’nt fit between R1 and ANH unless they CG-faced Han and Lando and anyone else that might show up.

A shot from one of the trailers reveals the moment that Yavin 4 Base decide to go to war at scarif.

This would seem to be Bail Organa there making a speech as well as Doldonna and no doubt would feature R2-D2 C3-PO and Leia possibly abandoning or at least putting on the back burner their mission to tattooine.

Why would you fanedit such a perfect movie which is the best Star Wars since God spoke to Abraham ? You should fan edit this piece of shit called “A new Hope” in which there are several continuity errors.

(edit2: well… not this one either 😃)

“I have to say that I felt George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.” - James Cameron about Episode VII.

Sorry, you already used your “shitty comment about a movie most people enjoy” last page. Please find a new thread in which to be shitty. Thank you.

I loved the movie, just loved it. One thing I might change is the dialogue between the director and Vader on Mustafar. I would simply cut vader’s line about chocking on one’s ambitions, (he’s a sith for Chrissakes! Ambition is all he knows.)

I hated that line because Darth Vader does not use one-liners. But I don’t understand your point about him being a Sith.

And I hate the idea of putting anything more from ROTS in.

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”

I was more bothered by his walk down the ramp towards the Director. Looked like he was struggling in high heels.

They told me they’d fixed it!

As I previously corrected myself, he does not use cheesy one-liners.

Anakin does, though. Now that can either be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you want the prequels to fit into the universe. There’s plenty of people that want to ignore the prequels and treat the two trilogies as separate, so anything that makes Vader more like Anakin might be annoying or even sacrilegious.

Anakin does, though.

Anakin is not Vader. It’s quite obvious they are two completely different characters that have zero in common with each other.

Fairly certain its not explicitly stated in the films but I bet Vader really dislikes sand.

Haven’t heard this brought up yet, but beginning in TFA and now especially in Rogue One, the end credits music simply does not fit with the tone of the final scenes. It’s incredibly jarring to have just sat through the killing of all the main characters and a brutal murder-spree by Vader only to have the music ramp up for two seconds to a fun, adventurous crescendo.

If I were to re-edit it, the Tantive would only belatedly enter the battlefield to receive the transmissions and then jump out of system, apparently free from pursuit, to continue its mission to retrieve Obi-wan. We wouldn’t see Leia’s face at all. Then, as others have suggested, we would end with the Death Star firing on Scarif and the deaths of Jyn and Cassian. Fade to white. After a few seconds of silence, begin subdued music more in line with the tone of the ending.

Exactly, and some see that as a problem.

FWIW, I know what my policy would be for handling prequel material in future films if I were emperor of Disney.
Prequel-specific things can be alluded to without a problem, but never anything that appears to strain or break continuity with the OT.
Having Bail Organa depicted by Jimmy Smitts makes all the sense in the world. Referencing Mustafar is fine too. You could even reference Mace Windu as a Jedi by that logic, not that you’d want to.
However, it wouldn’t be acceptable to reference Qui-Gon Jinn as being Obi-Wan’s master, the Republic collapsing a mere 20 years prior to ANH, or Padme dying in childbirth.

This approach, which seems 100% consistent with what they’ve done so far in TFA and RO, allows three groups of fans to be happy: those whom want to ignore the PT, those whom accept but don’t love the PT, and those whom like the PT.

Seen the film for the second time. Really digging it and feel there’s a lot of fanedit potential. Like or hate TFA, the problems cited against it are so inherent to the film that they can’t really be removed with a fanedit.

Rogue One, on the other hand, just has some bad scenes that can be removed, so it’s ripe for us. 😃

My suggestions-

  1. Don’t start in space, no need since crawl was axed. Possibly also remove “A long time ago…”
  2. Cut opening for cringy child acting and blue milk throwaway shot.
  3. Put scene of Jyn waking up in the present day to before the logo, clearly indicating the transition in time. This possibly reframes the opening scene as a dream, as it appeared to be in the trailer.
  4. Replace oddly cheap-looking logo with nicer trailer logo.
  5. After logo, first scene should now focus on Cassian killing informant.
  6. Move first scene of Bodhi on Jedha to after Jyn and Cassian leave Yavin, in order to avoid excessive planet hopping. Follow it up directly with scene of Saw interrogating him. This means the audience never has to “leave Jedha” immediately after getting there the first time.
  7. Reinstate “I Rebel”? Or at very least make ending of briefing scene less awkward. An alternative would be to have the final exchange be “Is that clear?”; “Yes, sir,” also from teaser.
  8. Cut Cantina Fellows on Jedha.
  9. Cut Psychic Alien monster; no real pay-off in the long-run
  10. Trim Tarkin stuff throughout; camera lingers too long and performance is somewhat weak.
  11. Cut first Vader scene at Bast Castle in its entirety because of poor performance vocally and physically. Better to save Vader for final scene at end.
  12. Take out some of “odds” jokes, which grow excessive.
  13. Cut 3PO and R2D2.
  14. Radical, weird alternate ending idea I had! 😄 (not actually sure how well this would work):

But… instead of ending on a CGI Leia, have the Star Destroyer chase the Tantive, as per the opening shot of SW77, then cut to the deleted scene of Luke watching from the surface of Tatooine. Iris out on a close-up of Luke’s face, as he puts down the binoculars. This would require restoring the deleted scene to an acceptable level of quality, though it could be nice to bring back the “Luke’s theme” musical cue from SW77.

In any case, I feel ending on Luke would do a more clear job of concluding the film’s theme of hope- personifying it, as he is literally “A New Hope” instead of having another character simply say the word. Also, looking at bigger picture placement within the saga, it’s a nice changing of the guard from Vader, shown in close-up, to Luke, who would end the film in close-up. There’d also be an added bit of symmetry with Force Awakens, both ending on Luke.

Of course, we may have a bunch of deleted scenes to work with, as well! Though, my suspicion is that the reshot 3rd act is radically superior to the original.

Hey everyone.

I liked the film - and more the second time around, which is always a good sign. Act 3 being so good enriches everything in the first 2 acts on rewatch.

I’d change a few things:

The score. I’d like to see most of it rescored with ANH/ESB tracks.

Cut as much (ideally all) Forest Whitaker.

I’d replace Vader’s bad pun with something he might actually have said in that situation.

Make a few subtle cuts of Tarkin shots and dialogue. I thought his voice was a bigger problem than the CGI.

The opening 20 minutes could be tightened.

On a different tack, I’m looking forward to “Death Star: The Motion Picture” that someone will now inevitably make.
