RoboCop Theatrical Version Preservation

Okay I know most RoboCop fans are more favorable of Paul Verhoeven's cut as opposed to the theatrical cut. However, considering most if not all the Robo BluRays featured the director's cut, has anyone ever considered upscaling the theatrical version of the film?? The last release of the original version was the 20th Anniversary DVD edition which had the same color issues as the BluRay version of the director's cut released around the same time. Anyways just thought I'd ask about this.

Why preserve this?

If you can't answer the question with any seriousness and dignity you should  go away (preserve it yourself and create a new thread when you're done).  Sheesh!

Is this a preservation inquiry for preservations sake? Because you're asking about something you already say isn't favorable when compared to the director's cut? Ridiculous!

Just a question. No need to be rude you jerk!!! :p If I had any preservation knowledge I would preserve it myself and have no need to post here and deal with harrassers like you! If you ask me you're the one who should go away!

There is already a "non-released" theatrical cut Sony Blu-ray of this one. It's MPEG-2 and 29.970 fps if I remember correctly.

And it can be found the usual way on the Net (usenet for me: "bd-robo-sony"). I'm pretty sure I have it somewhere on a hard drive.

I believe one of the 4K remastered blu-rays also has a choice of the extended or theatrical cut by way of seamless branching.

What I would really love to see is a preservation of the censored for TV version, you know where the old man is an Airhead.

Does anyone have a decent taping of it?

I have the Sony rip and it's close to the detail of the 4k but the colour is odd and may need changing

Can this Sony BD still be found anywhere besides Usenet? binsearch does not show anything with those search parameters.

Didn't the Sony BD have a bunch of EE and contrast boosting? I mean it looked better than the original Fox BD granted but still...

It's on RuTracker, IIRC, btw.

Contrast boosting yes and overly sharpened, I actually played with matching the video on the new MGM 4k disc and they are not too far apart after some tinkering

Interesting... to be honest, the 4K BD has been sitting on my shelf. Don't expect much now.
