I think that's brilliant. I like it.

When you used the word "when", I also thought it would envolve time, and not math... But it's a good one, never thought of that.

That was cool Maddog. So what's the next riddle?

Well, glad to see everyone was enjoying the holidays, not just me. Hasn't been too much action around here.

Anyway, the answer to my earlier riddle was "empty". You can remove the letters one by one:

m-pty.
mp-t
m-t

And it still sounds like "empty."

---

I told my family the roman numeral riddle, and it stumped them and they loved it. it's a good one.

---

And I'm out of riddles, for the moment. It's open to the next asker.
If you're going to take forever, then I'm having a hotdog!

"m-t" sounds like empty? Really?

OK here's a good, classic one. Now, I belive about 50% of the regular posters might be familiar with it, so I ask for you guys to not reply with the answer if you already know it. It's actually kinda easy:

Imagine you have with you a wolf, a rabbit and a carrot, and you are walking in the woods and you see a river. You must cross this river by using a small boat that rests on the edge of the river, but it's so small you can only bring one thing/animal with you. If you leave the rabbit alone with the carrot, the rabbit eats the carrot. If you leave the wolf with the rabbit, the wolf eats the rabbit. The wolf dosen't eat the carrot. Now, being able to carry one animal (or the carrot) at once, how can you cross the river?

I don't remember seeing this one before, so I'll try it.

First, bring the rabbit over leaving the wolf and the carrot.
Second, bring the carrot over and stick it up in a tree. You're in the woods, after all, and rabbits can't climb trees.
Third, bring the wolf over.
Fourth, ask yourself why your traveling companions are a wolf, rabbit, and carrot and then seek therapy.

That rabbit can fly, so he would get the carrot. He just cannot fly over water (remeber "Back to The Future 2"?)

a flying rabbit eh? I guess the wolf must be able to fly as well . . .

I already know the answer to this puzzel so I won't give it out.

As do i, it's pretty simple (i did get the answer myself).

After you have solved it the first time, it gets simple.

But let me add some new rules:

The rabbit and the wolf can fly, but only short distances, and never over water.
You cannot eat the carrot.
No, the wolf and the rabbit will not "become friends".
Yes, the boat is so small, SO SMALL, you can only carry a carrot with you.
No, there is no bridge, and no, you cannot cross the river by swiming.
No, you can't kill the rabbit with the holy hand granade.

Okay, how about this... Since you never specified the distance traversed by boat...

First, throw the carrot across the water to the other side.
Second, take the wolf across the river by boat.
Third, take the rabbit across by boat.

Somebody just post the damn answer.

lol.

I'm sure Ric is going to reply that the river is too wide for you to be able to throw the carrot across.

No Bossk, there is another solution. But, I'm not going to tell. You can figure out. Think Bossk, think!

I've got an idea: leave the carrot, the rabbit, and the wolf behind and take the boat yourself because all it says is that all you need to do is get across.

I think I remember how that Wolf/Rabbit/Carrot thing works, but since Bossk seems to be having such a good time, I'll not say anything.

If you're only doing 1 at a time, I apologize, but I have one for the rest of use while Bossk is working on rics.

You have 9 dots, arranged in a 3x3 grid, looking something like this (draw one out for yourself):

. . .
. . .
. . .

Now, using only 4 straight lines and without picking up pencil, put a line through all 9 dots.
Author
Time
easy...

if we mark the dots 1 - 9, by starting with the top left as 1 and the top right as 3, and the bottom left as 7 tyhen the bottom right would be 9. the line will go: 1-4-7-X-8-6-X-3-2-1-5-9

mind you, the "X" stands for the pencils moving outside the "box" if you understand my meaning.

I understood what you did, motti. The first line you draw went beyond dot 7, and make a turn passing by 8 and 6, right? And then the next line goes beyond dot 6, and makes a turn at dot 3... I belive this is the only solution possible - without creating these "invisible" vertices, by graph you can see that it's impossible to do that.

Oh I'm done having fun with the boat question. And I've seen that dot question before. I remember they used to have that one on a kids puzzle placemat at some restaurant when I was a kid. It's tough at first when you're a kid trying to figure that out. Thinking outside the box is a relatively weird concept for kids.

It is quite simple, and here's the answer, since it dosen't matter anymore:

take the rabbit, come back
take the wolf, come back with the rabbit
take the carrot, come back
take the rabbit

OK these are not ordinary flying wolves and rabbits... those are POKEMONS!

If they are Pokemon then here is my solution.

Leave all three on the shore, get in the boat, paddle out to the middle of the river, drill a hole in the boat, allow myself to drown into a non-Pokemon-infested bliss.
