Oh ok, so it's weight is different, it could be heavy or lighter. Let me think...

OK I got it.

Weight 4 with other 4, that's the first one.
Take the heavier side, and weight with the other 4 left, that's the second one.
IF they weight the same, that means there is a light one on the 4 bbs left.
IF they weight differently, that means there is a heavier one on the heavier side.

Now you take those 4 different bbs and weight than, 2 each side, that's the third one.
Take the 2 who were heavier or lighter (depends on what happened on the second try) and put than on the balance, you'll get the different one, and... that's the fourth weighing. There you go.

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I'm going to be gone over the weekend, so I'm going to post the answer (or an answer, there might be other ways) so the thread won't die. If you want to keep working it out, don't read the next post.

Other than that, the thread is open. First person to ask a riddle gets control!

U = unknown
R = confirmed regular
H = possibly heavy
L = possibly light

1: UUUU UUUU
If they are even:
8R and 4U

____2: UU UR
____If they are even:
____11R and 1U

________3: U R – see if the unknown is heavier or lighter

____If they are uneven:
____9R, 2H, 1L or 9R, 2L, 1H (the three unknowns in weighing 2 are either heavier or lighter depending on which side went down)

________3: H H or L L
________If even, the unweighted L or H is the rogue and you already know if it is heavier or lighter.
________If uneven, it is the heavier or lighter of the two, depending what your pair is.

If they are uneven:
4H, 4L, 4R

____2: HHHL HRRR (or LLLH LRRR, same logic applies)
____If they are even:
____One of the 3 unweighed L’s is a light rogue.

________3: L L
________If they are even:
________The third is the rogue. If uneven, the lighter of the two is the rogue.

____If the left side is heavier:
________One of the 3 H’s from the left is a heavy rogue. Same as above.

____If the right side is heavier:
________The L on the left or the H on the right are rogue. Pick one and weigh it with an R. The outcome will tell you which is rogue, and
________they are already H or L so you know if it is heavy or light.

Then I'll take it...

Pronounced as one letter,
And written with three,
Two letters there are,
And two only in me.
I'm double, I'm single,
I'm black, blue, and gray,
I'm read from both ends,
And the same either way.

What am I?

Very nice, Simon. You look it up, know it beforehand, or actually figure it out? Either way, doesn't matter. You get to pose the next riddle.

To what plural English word can you ADD an 's' to make a singular word? (not the singular version of the same word, but a different, singular word)

And as an addition, although it's not quite a riddle, my girlfriend wants to know "what do you call a deer with no eyes?"

ASSES --> ASSESS ?

Although the resulting word is not singular in the sense of a singular noun, it is a singular action. Maybe I'm reaching.

No idea about the deer.

Yeah, both words have to be nouns. But I like it, Bossk : )

As for the deer, you got it right.
No-eyed deer = no idea-r

No, they're not lame. It's just that I tend to give up and wait for someone else to answer once mine are wrong.

Here's one. Not too tough...

Behead me again, and I am the partner of ready.
Restore me, and I become the domain of beasts.

Stable?

OK, I'm just going to roll with this now.

Three people are being interviewed for a logic professor position. There is one final test.

They are blindfolded and told either a black or a white dot will be applied to their foreheads. All three are then given a black dot. They are then sat in a circle. When the blindfold is removed they are asked to raise their hand if they see a black dot on either of the other two applicants' foreheads. (all three raise their hands).

They are then told that the first person to identify what color dot is on his own forehead and how he knows it gets the job.

Yes, Stable is the answer. Sorry, it didn't appear that a reply had been posted so I didn't see it a while back.

I'm assuming that the question in your riddle is how he knows it?

I'll go out on a limb here... one of the other applicants is wearing glasses and the guy who guesses correctly can see his reflection in the glasses.

Quality "out of the box" thinking there.

But no. He can actually deduce it. Don't let that stop you from guessing, though. You can get it.

Okay, here's some more limb grabbing... the applicant who guesses correctly sees that both of the other applicants have black dots. Each of the other two applicants have a 50/50 shot of whose head they are going to look at first. If they do look at yours first and they raise their hands with no hesitation before seeing the other head, then they see a black dot on your own head. If that makes any sense.
