Not only in that section, but possibly in his threads. However, considering thi is your first post, I doubt anyone's going to be too hard on you. Welcome to the Adywan-supporting bandwagon (inserts snappy catchphrase here.)

I'm wondering how the other anti-SE members of this forum feel about the Revisited DVDs? I haven't seen any of them yet, but would someone like myself who think of the SEs as sacrilege really enjoy these?

Mielr,

I would say you might be surprised with your reaction to Adywan's edit. It basically changes some effects, but respects the characters and story. Jabba is gone. Greedo shooting first is gone. Many mono-mix elements are reinstated. And the film LOOKS great.

I don't hate the concept of a Special Edition, it's just that Lucas intended the Special Editions as a replacement for the OOT. If he hadn't gone that route, I bet a lot of us would feel differently.

But regardless - and this may sound corny - Adywan obviously loves Star Wars, which is more than I can say for Lucas. Adywan's spent more than a year and a half obsessing over the smallest details. To me, that alone makes this a must-see.

So go watch it!

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Some of the responses on the "Revisited" thread were rather surprising to me ("From now on, this is the ONLY version of Ep.IV that I'll watch."), such that I had thought of putting up a poll in this forum. But then the forum software was changed and poll functionality isn't available right now.

I would actually venture to say that Adywan's edit has brought aboard a great many folks who don't fit the stereotype of "OT.com member = SE hater".

As an anti-SE dude, I've really enjoyed Adywan's SW:ANH-R, but it certainly won't become my version of choice. In my book, nothing can replace the original, warts and all.

Aside from the Darth Editous-type "goof" and continuity corrections, he has removed some of the more "cute" and silly SE elements (bickering robots, bucking Ronto, gratuitous flying droids at Mos Eisley) resulting in a Special Edition that respects what made the original so great.

The re-editing of the Luke-in-Ben's-hut scene provides an interesting alternative, and the alterations of the DS reveal, the Vader/Ben duel, and the Battle of Yavin are enjoyable. I would say that this is what the original SE should have been: a fun "alternate take" on the film. And without question this is impressive display of what one guy (with a few assistants) can do with modern software and a little imagination.

Ever since buying the official dvds of the whole Star Wars saga i wanted more and found out there were these things called Fan Edits and preservations of the films and i had to see every one i could find. I have seen many fan films out there and fan edits but nothing compares to ADYWANs work as i was amazed to see Star Wars as i have never seen it before and it is the best edit our there i can't wait to see Empire and Jedi. ADYWANSs revisited is what the speciail editions should have been.

A week or so ago I saw a friend that I don't see very often but is a big SW fan.  I described it to him as a strange contradiction - if you know the original film intimately, frame for frame, moment for moment, it's a whole different experience.  If, on the other hand, you've seen SW in passing but don't know all the tiny details, you'd think it was the same old film.  I have yet to give him a copy of it, but in showing him a few minutes of it, he was amazed how different-yet-the-same it was.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
