Dammit, Snyder Cut. See what you’ve done?!
This has to be a gag? Not the Star Wars movie I thought someone would start a petition for getting a longer cut of.

Has there ever been even a whiff of such a version existing?
What’s sad is I find out about this from a post in a Stanley Kubrick FB group.
Where were you in '77?
Probably not (I thought the four hours was just the script, which spent a ton of time on the Invisible Hand), but even if it was filmed, it wouldn’t be remotely understandable (characters would just be walking on the green screen). They would have to invest a lot into making it presentable: and Lucasfilm still hasn’t released the original cuts of the OT, which they have right in their hands for free, so why would they go out of their way for something like this?
I don’t care about a ROTS 4-hour cut either, but i would like to see more deleted scenes, especially more of the Anakin-turns scenes from 2003. Lucas partially scrapped those when he made Anakins turn to the dark side merely Padme-centric during the 2004 reshoots. The 2003 version supposedly shows more of the “I should have known the Jedi are plotting to take over!” angle and also Palpatine grabbing Anakins lightsaber to fight Mace Windu.
Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

‘The best visual effects in the world will not compensate for a story told badly.’ - V.E.S.
‘Star Wars is a buffet, enjoy the stuff you want, and leave the rest.’ - SilverWook
Yeah, that wouldn’t be released even if such a thing was ever filmed and finished, which it wasn’t.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
I can’t believe that petition even has as many signatures as it does. The actual text of it reads like parody. I have a hard time believing it’s not a joke that people are simply taking seriously because at this point, with the Snyder Cut being made real, it’s hard to tell what’s fantasy or parody and what’s an actual plea from a completely around-the-bend fandom.
Satire’s dead, so anything goes right now.

Let’s not make PTSD jokes, okay?

But there is already a 4 hour cut of ROTS which greatly improves on the theatrical version
Come on, that’s just mean. This movie at least has some redeeming qualities.
A four hour extended cut is a terrible idea though.
My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX
I’m not opposed to it on the grounds of all the fan editing possibilities, honestly. Not that this would ever happen.
not a Jedi apologist or a Jedi hater but a secret third thing

A true tour de farce
The closest thing we’ve got is a mashup of TCW Season 7 and ROTS.
I mean, if by some miracle they just decided to drop millions of dollars and release heavily extended versions somehow, that’d be incredible for us with what we do here.
There’s no way they’d do that. TROS would be the most likely, and it’s a zero chance even then.
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
It’ll NEVER happen.
The prequel novelisations expand and improve upon the (disappointing) films.
It is not going to happen. Lucas maintains final cut over his films. Disney cannot just decide to create a 4 hour cut of Revenge of the Sith, which does not exist.
What people should be asking for is Theatrical Cuts of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi because Lucas did not direct them. Based on Lucas own belief that a director should legally have the right to final cut, those should be available.
