Good news! Silverwook sent me a THX laserdisc audio rip, and it looks like will be able to fit both audio tracks - the 16mm optical AND the THX laserdisc rip on the ROTP dvd. The project is nearly done.

😎 great news!
It’s done! I’ll be mailing a disc to Silverwook today, to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Turns out my fears regarding space on the disc were largely unfounded. With only a slight reduction in bitrate, I was still able to fit the documentary, a second audio track, motion menu, and even still had space for a very small bonus extra.
And what is the bonus this time, you ask? Well, anyone remember the bonus on Stjärnornas Krig? It was called “The Maniac” and was an 8mm homemade horror movie made by some kids… I had found the film in a box marked “Star Wars”. I still don’t know who those kids are. Anyhow, “The Maniac” was one of three stories they filmed, the others being “The Robot” and “The Detectives”. “The Maniac” was the best of the three - in fact I consider it the main reason to get Stjärnornas Krig! 😃 Anyhow, ROTP contains “The Robot”, which features breathtaking special effects. A spaceship comes in from outer space carrying a giant robot that goes on a rampage, until the humans finally defeat it. It even includes a short documentary “the making of ‘The Robot’”!

Truly it is the best of all possible worlds!
Amazing!!! I’m looking forward to sitting down and watching this- and counting mouse droppings 😃
‘Mailing a disc’? Are you not able to upload it?
I’ve mailed a disc to Silverwook before too. If you can think of a simpler way, I’d like to hear it.
Unless I’m missing something, I’m guessing uploading the DVD files to MEGA would be faster than snail mailing a disc.
You’re probably right. But I customarily prefer to burn a disc and print my own label. This is retro all the way, start to finish 😃 For PG and ESB I was sending out lightscribe discs… but that seems to have gone the way of the black rhino and I don’t feel like firing up my old Windows 2000 machine with the lighscribe drive.

We’re in the same geographic area more or less. And my pal Jaxxon likes his physical media. Also, our internet is slow as a turtle.
I lament the trilogy discs won’t look similar, but we need to track down Boba Feta to make a cover.
JEDIT:Apparently he already did a mock-up for one some time ago.

I join Puggo in lamenting the death of Lightscribe. It’s Lightscribe media that’s hard to find. DVD-9’s are rare as hen’s teeth, and BD-R’s never came to be. DVD-5’s are all you can find, if you’re really desperate enough to try to keep that old tech alive.
We’re from the seventies, man. You should be glad we’ve graduated beyond passing around old Foghat 8-tracks.
I did my share of VHS tape trading back in the day.

Oh man, I saw Greatest American Hero that way. Er, I think. It was a long time ago.

I’m pretty sure I have y’all beat when it comes to old video formats…
NTSC open reel, and even older CV open reel, both working decks.
That’s Sony CV – we’re talkin’ 1960’s. Didn’t even have a tracking control, because they hadn’t imagined anyone wanting to record on one deck, and play back on another deck.
I actually did one commercial video restoration project about 5 years ago that required restoring two CV tapes using that deck. Amazingly, they reproduced rather well. Got lucky on the tracking.

I still have about 10 blank Lightscribe disks left. No plans to replenish them. Although they do look pretty cool, laserjet printing is full color, cheaper, and a LOT faster. Not lamenting all that much, frankly. Maybe 20 years from now I’ll pull out the old machine and burn a LS disk for old time’s sake. By then nobody will even know what a DVD is.

Well that song is also something different than the original Cinema Snob theme song? 😃
And a HUGE thanks to Puggo for finishing this
I’m so flipping excited for this.

Silverwook found one glitch in the menu navigation that I’m fixing now.

Can’t wait to see it, droppings and all.
Glad I decided to check OT again after so long. This was the reason I kept coming back! Excited to see ROTP.
Fixed the glitch, introduced another. Working on fixing the new one…

I don’t think the menu button glitch is really worth pulling your fur out over. All player remotes have the top menu button don’t they? Even my Panasonic Blu Ray remote has that while lacking subtitle and angle buttons.
