Perhaps you should forgo any extras besides your usual technical notes?

Is this going to have a Laserdisc stereo track like PSB?

My thoughts exactly, or possibly even consider DVD9?

Please, include all the extras. Take your time, and don't be rushed. We've waited this long, and everyone can wait further for it.

At this point, we can wait as long as it takes to get it right, and yes, Jedi is longer:

=================================================

Star Wars IV: A New Hope" Runtime: 121 min | 125 min (special edition)

"Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back" Runtime: 124 min | USA:127 min (special edition)

"Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi" Runtime: 134 min | 135 min (special edition)

I think the suggestion to forego the extras relates to the video quality.

Yes I'm planning to be conservative in this regard...

 Yes, clearly.

Fitting a 134 minute movie on a DVD5 with no extras at all is challenge enough.

Thanks for doing what you do Puggo

I contacted TMPGEnc - they confirmed that their newer versions can't do the setting I want.  So they sold me a license for the older version, and everything is working fine now on my new computer.

Finished encoding all three films.  Now to start on the doc...

Yes, but the idea of revisiting the first two with a better encode has been floated in the past.

Puggo, have you looked into x262 encoder? The new mpeg2 equivalent of x264

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Actually, I was wondering about that too, whether x262 could be used to make vobs (especially from Avisynth scripts, for which I currently use tmpgenc 2.5).

I'd be wary of using x262.  It's far from finished, and there doesn't seem to have been any significant development for a while.

Wonderful! Keep at it, there's no sense in rushing anything if it's still not satisfactory...we can keep waiting. ;)

Just wanted to chime in with a generic cheerleader-kinda post, saying that I’m eagerly awaiting ROTP progress–your scans so far have been completely excellent. 😄

Sorry - work has totally consumed me this semester. As they say in my line of work, the last 10% of the work takes 90% of the time 😃

I hate that saying since it’s so often true :-p
