Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm still trying to make sense of this whole "song doesn't sound like Star Wars" thing. Its from a star wars movie and includes star wars themes. I'm pretty happy with it so it'll probably stay.

When I said that it doesn't sound Star Wars-y, I meant that it doesn't really sound like the main theme of a Star Wars lightsaber duel. I guess that I'm just so used to the regular music that it's quite a change. Anyway, I think that the duel works better without transitioning to other scenes and look forward to seeing this in the edit.

Thanks! I understand what you mean but I think that's why I like it. All that's left to do is add the death star to that window and finish up some sound work.

Ok, I'm putting out an official call for help. I cannot do these shots of adding the death star into the throne room window in my own. I'm just not good enough with after effects. By the time I actually get it working George will be making the sequel trilogy and Clone Wars will be on season 14. If anyone is willing to assist me let me know.

I wish I could, but I can't even spell Aftr Effects.

Hopefully someone will step up.

I can maybe do it in Photoshop. I guess that wouldn't help though.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Author

Well, you'd have to do it frame by frame I would assume, which is probably quite difficult.

I'm digging the composition of it.

I like it!

It does seem to stand out a bit compared to the rest of the scenes blue hues, but that's a small thing, imo.

I haven't color corrected the footage yet. Just a test!

Gotcha. It was just an observation. I really am looking forward to the complete, edited color corrected movie.

Wow, this is looking very interesting - watching the clip you posted though, it feels to me that it might work better if the Death Star was on the right hand side of the window, where the fleet is, since that is where Luke is doing all his looking.

Author
Time

Well, he's still looking at the fleet. So I'm not sure that I follow you...

Sorry, wasn't sure what Luke's focus was supposed to be on - the fleet or the Death Star, but have now read up more and know what's going on *looks sheepish*

Anyone remember on the Wishlist thread when I proposed Luke being on a second Death Star (not the one the Rebels know about) but he only found out when that Death Star rotated into view (prompting the shocked "no" response)?

(ignore the first panel)

A similar approach could work here.

Luke could assume that he is on the Death Star and about to be destroyed when his friends blow it up but when the station comes into view he realises he has been conned (or retconned in the context of the edit).

Great ending, spot on!

You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

Wow, that's ... that's perfect.  I even like the music when Vader's dying.  And I didn't miss the ghosts at all this time, either.

Dude, I'm so pumped for this edit now - you've done a great job so far!

Thanks! I'm aiming for a first week of March release.

The music when Vader is dying is incredible. I can't remember that scene feeling so emotional til now - but it ought to. The rest of the ending still feels a little rushed, but not too bad.

Oh, also, I never realized until now just how perfect the line "Nothing can stop that now" concerning Vader's death is, in light of his reasons for choosing the Sith in ROTS.

Oh and thanks for noticing the music. I think Anakins theme is a fitting end for mr. Skywalker. .

I think I like the original music better.

Although, I suppose it depends on your point of view. If you see it as, "Yes! Anakin is back!", then the happier music works. On the other hand, if your first thought is, "Holy shit! He's taking Vader's mask off!", then the original music is more fitting.

A belated welcome Spence, and as others have pointed out, you're edits are more well known than you realise. Looking forward to this :-)
