Here’s a poser for you all, do any BTS photos of Sebastian Shaw as Anakin exist? There are plenty in the Vader costume and makeup, but I’ve never seen one in the Jedi robes. Were Shaw and Sir Alec shot together or separately?

Edit, found this in Wookiepedia:

George Lucas personally directed Shaw for his appearance in the final scene of the movie, in which he is a Force ghost of Anakin Skywalker dressed in brown and white robes, his prior burns and injuries completely healed. The footage was shot against a blue screen and the characters of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, with whom Anakin exchanges glances and smiles, were added later. Shaw did not know the purpose of the footage and believed it to be publicity, not for the film. When directing the scene, Lucas simply advised the actor, “Look happy, smile.”

Here are some BTS pics I found of the unmasking, couldn’t find any for the ghost scene:

Originally the scene at the end with the Force ghosts only had Ben and Yoda. Producer Howard Kazanjian suggested adding Anakin’s ghost. Lucas agreed and recalled Shaw for a day of filming. For the sake of secrecy, the call sheets listed Shaw’s character as “Bob Brown”.

Fascinating! And yet Obi Wan seems to be looking at Anakin. So did they re-purpose one of Sir Alec’s costumes or whip something up for Shaw in a hurry?

Since it’s obvious in one photo that Shaw was never as tall as Prowse, I presume the switch occurs after Vader slumps to the ground on the shuttle ramp.

On a side note, I wonder if the book that only came out bundled with the 12 inch Shaw Anakin figure might have some rare pix in it? Anybody have a copy?

I have a copy! I’ll have to look through it and see if there’s anything of note.

JEDIT: Nope, no new images in the book as far as I can see.

Drat! Thanks for checking though. Still tempted to get one of those figures just to make a pro-OOT statement. 😉

A picture of George and Carrie I’ve not seen before.

Funny how red Carrie’s hair looks in that pic. And why is George wearing those incredibly bulky gloves?

It was probably a cold morning in the woods that day and he’s warming up a princess’ hands as one should?

^ When I was young I somehow though this guy may have been related to Ben Kenobi - I think it may have the hair or the beard! That is one dodgy beard 😃

I never saw that giant bug in Jabba’s palace before!

And it seems like they finished the Rancor costume more than what was seen of it in Star Wars to Jedi. Pity we’ve never seen any more of the footage they shot before going with the puppet version.
