Requiem for a Clone War dream... (2003 series) (* unfinished project * - lots of info) — Page 3

Well My thinking is more to do with the realm of star wars than the character herself.

Specificallly i want to try out some things with her eyes. They just look too weird to me. I've tried adding a very slight white glow which looked good but i want to test out some other ideas. I wont go into too much detail until I've done some tests.

I'm also thinking of altering her flesh tone to something that is very pale - like a sickly pale shade, Rather than just white. I feel it may give her a more sinister appearance. I've got a feeling the white skin might be a rattatak trait tho, So i'm planning to look into a few things like that.

For the most part I'm not too concerned with the EU.

I actually like the blue green saber combo visually and given her Jedi past - from what I've read, it seems to make sense. Also I'm not really a fan of lightsaber colours outside the realm of red blue and green. Keep in mind at that point she is in NO WAY affiliated with the Sith.

PS Thanx for the star wars asajj forum thread link, I hadn't seen that.

Just thinking that with the obvious skill you have shown that you should try and extend the last battle scene. I think it'd be cool to see what you would come up with. Now the question is, how are you going to go about it? Clever edits or are you going to try and make new footage somehow?
Author

Well the simplistic style of the show makes it easy to cut out and separate certain elements from shots. I've already done that with Asajj and i've got out some jedi fighters to composite into the last shot.

I'm all for the idea of buidling new shots but keep in mind I can only really use elements that already exist in some way - take those, rearrange and repurpose them. Did you have anything specific in mind BSherrod?

it should e possible to recolour Tinn and/or Windu's fighters for example

I haven't really had time to work on this mush during the week but hopefully i'll have some free time on the weekend to tryout some ideas i've had.

What about using some shots from the other shows that use the Bruce Timm style? I mean you could look into justice league adventures for some potential stuff to use. I watched all of the chapters, but can't remember really specific parts, so I don't know how Much I can actually help.

I had thought about checking out other works buy the same artists. I'll check out this Bruce Timm guy when I get home form work. [I have to go back in ]

If you [or anyone here] wanna point me in some cool directions I'll be happy to take a look. Basically at the moment I'm up for anything My goals are simple.

Give it a feature film kind of feel, and flow, Use more star wars film elements like opening crawls and more theatrical visual effects [Ie: less cartoony].
Have fun with it.
Maybe learn something along the way
steal Sluggo's secret powers....

An idea I'm currently toying with is having title cards appear after we jump ahead in time specifically the battle in chapter 21. Something along the lines of

- Day 263 -
Battle of Someplace

- Obviously with real and hopeful somewhat accurate details of course. Might give things a militaresque [sp? - even a word?] feel. I'll only do it if it works neatly and doesn't take the viewer out of the moment.

I prefer that over an "X amount of time" title card if I go that route.

What do you guys think?

EDIT:

I should have some time to work on this over the weekend [no big plans finally] so I should be able to check in frequently and hopefully get some screenies up to make ppl weak at the knees.

Screenies plus video video please. But Look at Justice League Adventures and possibly Teen Titans or something like that.
This website should catalog all of them and you can see if there's anything worth looking at.

[palpy]Come closer, I have good news[/palpy]

So I've got a rough cut together of the entire intro sequence. this is basically 2 pieces. A pre main title intro sequence and the main titles themselves. It's still kind of rough since hardly any of the audio is in and only a few shots have the effects I plan to add. Now I'm preparing to cut these together with all the dvd quality footage [some bits are rough and sketchy] and continue adding in the rest of the sound and the dialogue. The intro part itself runs for about 5 minutes and is kind of effects heavy even tho a LOT of it will probably seem subtle or non existant. So what is it then?...

here be Spoilers

Feeling kind of rushed and out of place later in the series I've brought chapters 6 and 7 to the forefront. Basically it stars with a close up of Asajj on dooku's couch. we hear faint sounds from the ratattak arena and suddenly [thru the magic of transitions] we are there. The main setting is the stuff from chapter 7 fairly unaltered except for effects shots, While the 'meat' of chapter 6 will appear in 3 flash back sequnces throughout. Hopefully the points where I've chosen to cut back and forth work nicely without confusing anyone. At this point I don't really have anything to post yet but hopefully I will soon.

after I've got this at least mostly done, I'll look at focusing on the Muunilist stuff. Since chapters 2 and 3 basically tell storys that run parallel and end with the same event i'll look at cutting and combining those, so we are not retreading the timeline.

I'm not entirely sure if i should pull out chapter 5 - Kitt fisto and slot it later into the story yet. I'm planning to go from chapter 2/3 to 8 then 9 since they cover most of the muunilist story. I may split up the kitt fisto plot line and possibly mace windu and slot them within the main story in small segments. Since they both only really focus on small area and dont really make reference to time that should work well.

I'll see what can be salvaged from chapter 1, I've already got ideas for one scene, but the rest is left out at the moment since the my version of the story begins after that.

At this point I'm pretty happy with the way things start out, I debated whether to go the route of an intro sequence but hopefully it plays out interestingly. I guess time will tell.

Stay tuned and I'll try get something up soon [But no promises]

Okay, I've been tweaking away at the new 'intro' sequence. I've managed to trim it down to 3 minutes and 52 seconds exactly.

On the downside I couldn't really find a star wars cue that fit the sequence well, However I did find something that fits very nicely. The song "Remember, Remember" from the V for Vendetta soundtrack. The main reason I like it is that it feels dramatic without having any recognizable heroic themes - at least in regards to star wars. Once Ventress is introduced to Sidious the original Music will be used since it's already in the style I want [Emperors theme] and it would be a headache to edit the dialogue.

Thankfully the music is fairly lacking when the character speak elsewhere. Are there any regions that Volume 1 came out in that have 5.1? Region 4 is definitely only 2.0, I'd assume they just didn't have big plans for DVD back in the early days.

Some pics and clips shouldn't be too far away guys...

And if there's anything I've learned from being around here lately it's -
"SAVE EARLY, SAVE OFTEN"
So I'm being extra cautious at the moment

If I may hazard a guess maybe the Japanese laserdisc had a 5.1 track?

System Failiure...

So I just picked up a new PC for a bargain price while out shopping. Yay right? - Not quite. It seem that my current [read: old] PC chose that moment to die on me...

Coincidence?

I don't consider it a total loss as I was getting a little frustrated with it. I've lost my videos and settings for the project but I still have all my artwork and original resources...And access to my hard drives.

It's a slight setback but progress should happen a lot faster now that I'm on a faster, and far more reliable rig.

For the most part I am still in the planning and testing stages but I DID have the whole intro sorted. I'll let you guys know when I've got the project back on track. And as a few of you may know it's a long weekend here in OZ so I should have some time to throw into this

Ouch...

Anyhow, really liking the progress I'm seeing here and I'm looking forward to the end result. I'm particularly looking forward to how you mess with Grievous's coloring since that's something that's always bugged me and I had hoped that for the DVD release they would have changed it to its final color scheme, but alas, they didn't...

I'm basically back on track now, If only a little behind. I'm a lot more motivated when I can process files quickly. There are a few small things that I'm still not happy with and I know that if I don't handle them now then I'll never be satisfied.

I'll definitely try get some stuff out to you guys shortly, Just don't hold me to any sort of release timeline, I've only really got weekends to work on this at the moment. In the meantime you can go about your business. You'll know when I've got something worth showing off...[of course comments are always welcome]

Here's a rough mock up of what I'm working on. Not specifically trying to make GG look like the ROTS version, Just trying to go for something that'll be consistent throughout 'clone wars'. It's a bit hard to find a nice balance without 'overdoing' it. What do you guys think? - keep in mind it's only rough at the moment.

I like the red and black cape, but I think his body plating should remain white. I know it isn't exactly consistent with the movie, but it looks better than the colored version. Also, I think the all white plating against the red cape would look good.

Author
Time
I have to agree with marv, I think the body coloring is fine the way it is, maybe just use darker grays if anything

Why not just make his whole body a very pale yellow?
Author

The thing with the coloring of Grievous in the movies is that his mask and plating are the color of bone not really yellow, because before Grievous was injured and put in that life suit he wore a warrior's mask made out of bone. The people who made his life suit replecated a new mask of similar style to his original to cover hisinjured head and colored his plating to match the color and style of it. So, for it to look right, his plating needs to be an off-white not a yellow. But I still think the white would look the best.

Damn, close, very close, but I think it's too subtle now. Try splitting the difference between the two versions, and I think you've nailed it.
