Request: 'Dawn of the Dead - Ultimate Cut'

In germany there is a cut of the original Dawn '78 Classic that features all of the scenes. From the Argento & Extended Version, every know scene, edited to make the “Ultimate Cut”.

I would get it, but there’s a huge problem. The only language it is available in is German.

So I’m asking if a nice horror fan that has the Ultimate Edition 4-disc, if they can add all the different scenes from Argento Cut & Extended Version in a new cut dubbed “Dawn of the Dead: The Ultimate Cut”

Please someone do this for me.

I second that. I have wanted to do this one myself but have never got around to it. And I do have the DVD set.

Another thing I haven't been able to verify. But on some of the other German releases are there bits and pieces that are not on the new box set? Over the years I thought I remember reading that there might be a few quick clips and such that don't appear on the any of the 3 main versions we know and love.

from what I hear, you would be right on that. I used to have the german version in XVID but have since erased it... if someone decides to do something like this though, I have something cool they could use as a bonus feature

A new video walkthorugh of the Monroeville Mall would be a cool extra.

There use to be a website that gave specifics on the different versions of Dawn including fan edits. Does anyone remember this or know the site?

www.homepageofthedead.com might be a good starting resource...

as for a video walkthrough, i think the one on the ultimate collection is good enough, personally

i have a cast reunion vhs rip from one of the conventions... its pretty cool... volume's kinda low though

If you don't mind me asking. What is the item that you have that could be used as a bonus feature? Just curious.

As a resident of Pittsburgh and a member of the tour group that was on the tour featured on the DVD set, I can tell you that it hasn't changed much since then, and it's a pretty generally uninteresting place. Except for the boiler room. We weren't even supposed to go in there and the mall worker going around with us kinda let us in there on a whim. That rocked.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Is it the one with Greg Nicotero there for no apparent reason other than that he just happened to also be there?

Was it the one from the Video Wasteland convention in Ohio some years ago? I have that on DVD. That was a lot of fun.

If someone could put up a guide to the necessary extra footage in various cuts and a cut to start out with, I could do it pretty easily.

I just found out the Ultimate Cut footage is all available in USA,in all 3 cuts they can be found BUT,many are alternate takes,so the Ultimate Cut in Germany consists of the same scenes in alternate versions/takes.
Maybe however someone can be a kinder soul, and make a Dawn of the Dead Deluxe.
Something like Star Warseleted Magic for Dawn. Some very nice fan(trooper) could get everything and edit to make a Deleted Magic or Deleted Magic-Like edit.
Get the Ultimate Edition DVD Set(Dead Walk,Document,Home Movies,Mall Tour,Commentaries,Different cuts and scenes)
Cinema Wasteland Reunion
Airport & Mall Tour(Which I could send mine to someone for them to copy and send back to me,its 76 minutes and has Foree & Emge and others guiding through the entire mall and airport)
Dawn of the Dead(2004)
Laserdisc Box Set(The only thing I don't have, due to no Laserdisc player)
UK Dead Trilogy Box Set(has exclusive Tom Savini commentary)
And make a documovie,like Deleted Magic,Building Empire,Sith Revealed etc.
And add a Trivia pop-up with facts from production, remake stuff, the Pittsburgh Official Dead Trilogy Book,Comics
and do alternate takes looking at how they're different, maybe a Splitscreen comparison. Make a Commentary track featuring the best of all the commentaries editing into one. Also have the Cinema Wasteland/Mall & Airport Tour/Laserdisc Features all preserved. I know prob noone is interested in it,but a guy can dream.
Anyone interested?

*starts to cry knowing it will never happen*

Yeah, a "Deleted Dead" project would be neato, but I ain't tackling something like that.

That would be truely one huge project. I keep thinking I'll do it. But then I think about it for a minute and realize I am only human.

How aobut this?? Edit Night, Dawn, Day and Land into one huge 8'ish hour Dead epic? I would use the 1990 version of Night due to it being in color (easier to incorporate). The films would overlap each other rather than one ending and the next starting. For example the helecopter that flies overhead at the end of Night 90 could be used to merge the scene from Dawn where they fly over the readnecks shooting the zombies.

Just a thought.

But I'm still hoping someone will do an extended Dawn.

A cool extra for this disc would be the "banned" Fridays sketch from the early 80's

I know I have a feature on Day of the Dead from Entertainment Tonight when it was coming out in the 80's. I also have Vincent Price doing a thing about Night of the Living Dead on ET called Masters of Horror. I believe I have the one on Alien too. One day soon I will have to transfer them.

When I got my first VCR in '84 I would leave a tape in the machine available to tape anything that came up of interest. This could have been clips of movies, interviews, etc.. I know I have the broadcast premier of Aliens, Star Wars, The Thing, etc.. I know I have stuff from the USA Channel's old show from Fridays and Saturdays called Night Flight and other misc stuff. I want to look into a nice SVHS VCR to do my transfers. I have an okay model that does a decent job. But searching all those tapes might take a long time and I want to do it right from the start.
